- Welcome to Algeria, a country in the north of Africa whose rich and diverse history, culture and beauty make it a great travel destination. In this video we explore Timimoun, an oasis town deep in the Sahara desert, walking through its old town and market. We also visit Thala, a nearby village, and watch the sun set and rise from the sand dunes.

My new found research of Algeria, the escorts are to protect the tourists and the locals. Trying to get around this, even if it’s not intentional, isn’t respectful of the care they are showing you. It’s not what we’re comfortable with in the West, but this is a different culture with limited exposure to our craziness. The trash you found in the desert, might be a sign of that. I’m hoping to visit next May. I appreciate your videos of Algeria. Thank you!
