I know this video wont get a ton of views, due to it being off season for Quartzsite, but I had fun making it, though less fun during the editing process. 😉 Let’s just say it took a while. There is a surprise in the mine shaft and a cool sunset/campfire towards the end. Thanks for watching!!
I’m a native in Az and its a good ideal to carry some salad tongs if your going to be close to those cholla cactus . I find they work very good to get them off your shoes and clothes . The mine video is fantastic
Haha! That’s great! Glad it surprised you. 😉 While editing this video, I thought the mine shaft clips seemed kinda lame, so what could I do to jazz it up. LOL! Creeping music and a scary guy to the rescue. 😁😜 Well, thanks for checking out this video Jackie. ✌️
OMG you’re so funny!! I ‘bout jumped out of my skin at the end of 50’! Ha!! I’m so happy you are making more regular video stories now. Your authenticity and humor is such a joy.
Thanks Peggy! 😂 Haha! I figured going down another 50’ would be boring, so why not end it here with a bit of a scare. 😁 I really appreciate your feedback. It’s fun adding a touch of comedy here and there. 👍 Stay tuned...more videos coming. ✌️
I think I could live with the road noise, the Cactus, the wind and the funky music 😉 but I didn't see any Whataburgers anywhere close. So I'm not sure I would stay out there more than 2 days ..✌😎👍 Thanks for sharing Troy
Haha! Thanks James. I’m rolling back to Texas, so a Whataburger is in my future. 😋 Yeah, the music was funky. 😉 Still experimenting with music genres. Thanks for watching. ✌️
My favorite parts - the drone footage...super rad! And the mine shaft! That was pretty cool until that creepy thing! Ha! Thanks for the informative, fun post. Keep on dancing like a weirdo 🕺🏽
Haha! Finally someone mentioned my dancing. LOL! 🤣😂 Took a break, but starting to make new videos again and will continue to include the drone shots. Thanks for watching and giving the feedback. 🤙
Oct. 31 ~ (Halloween)! GOT ME! (in the mine shaft!) LOL Fun video to watch, I enjoyed it. Something a little different ~ NICE! Dance on with your bad self ~ Gretchen
Thanks Matty. I heard you made a video about my channel. I’ll have to check it out. Been in Colorado for 4 months, enjoying van life, away from social media. 😁✌️
That’s a great place to camp. I did with my two dogs but I always have them on leash. My neighbors dog was always getting needles in it’s paws. But then their loose dog also bit into a porcupine once which cost them $500 at the vet. I love that place! Lots more mines around.
Yes, it is a great spot. It was my winter hangout for the past two years. I knew I wouldn’t be there this winter, so I made a video…possibly giving up my secret spot. LOL! I bet there are more mines. I always hiked on foot, but with an off-road vehicle, you could get way back there and see much more. Thanks for checking out the videos. 😁✌️
I too live out of my van but haven’t traveled anywhere other than Florida. Been doing it for about 3 months now. Barely survived the winter months until I got a winter sleeping bag.
I have found over the years that the winter months are a breeze if you have some insulation, a good sleeping bag and heat. Summer months are much more difficult, as you can’t do much to lower the hot temps, except install an a/c unit. There are ways to make the heat manageable, but sweating while you sleep is no fun. 😕
Good video. I camped the Q several years. I put some videos of it on TH-cam under my name & the word Quartzsite. Get outside town to see some unique places.
Yes, it’s a nice get-a-way from the crowds. Quartzsite can be fun with all the people, but having a quiet place to go to for a break is cool. 😉 Thanks for watching, Scott. Check it out at the start of next winter. 👍
Hi Kathryn. You are CORRECT. It was a ton of editing work to pull this all together. I actually put it off a week because I knew it would be a challenge piecing it together into a decent story. 😉 Setting up one camera on a tripod and talking for 10 mins is WAY easier. LOL! Glad the surprise got you. 😁 I was debating between doing something funny or scary and ended up going with a scare. 😉 Thanks for watching. 👍
@@TravelingTroy It's nice to have a particular challenge now and then. For a future video... something I wonder about... how do you decide when it's time to relocate for temperature changes and how do you decide where the weather will be better?
@@TravelingTroy It appeared that, for the most part, youtube vanlifers were able to avoid the worst of this winter's freakish weather. I'm not sure which is worst...cold that freezes water or heat that makes sleep miserable. I guess heat is going to be an issue for me, though, because somebody dumped a kitten on my porch in June and said tiny kitten turns out as an 11-month-old to be a great big Maine Coon long-haired cat that doesn't mind icy rain a bit but can't handle heat at all. Unless I can find him a good home (no takers so far) it looks like i'll be accommodating the needs of a cat 2 or 3 times the size of the dog I had intended to get once i'd learned the vandwelling ropes of caring for my own needs out there.
Indeed. Too late for camping at this spot now, due to the heat. Maybe people will check it out, like you said, starting in September. 👍 Enjoy Havasu. I stopped off there for a couple nights about a week ago. ✌️
This camping spot in Quartzsite, AZ is free for 14 days, no permit required. I think I recall showing my beach parking sticker in this video? I forget. That is the only parking permit/decal that I have on my van. It costs $10/year for free beach camping on Bolivar Peninsula beach along the Texas Gulf Coast. Hope this helps. 😁
Very interesting, never heard of that place. Not sure about camping there though, I'm still traumatized from stepping in that Cholla. Cool that mine shaft and I was waiting for a zombie to jump out, LOL!!!
Hi Tina! Well, if you’re out there next winter, give it a try for a few days. 👍 It definitely has me thinking of buying some new hiking boots. 😁 Yeah, I felt like I couldn’t just end the mine shaft clip without something exciting happening. LOL! I had all sorts of ideas, but my special effects skills aren’t great. I really wanted to make someone/something pull the rope and me fall in to the mine shaft. 😮 Thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback, Tina. ✌️
Awesome video you have a new Sub. i have a quick question , i just bought my 2nd GMC Safari the 1st one i still have but built it with all wood , this Safari i want to build with all shag carpet , but i watch ALOT of youtube videos about vans & none or almost none build with carpet , do you know why , is there a legit reason why people don't build with carpet on walls and ceiling ? like moisture or hard to clean , or is it just personal preference if you can answer this would be such an amazing help thanks man keep the great videos coming.
Hi there. Thanks for the sub. 👍 You’re right, I haven’t seen any vans with shag carpeting either. Though, I have seen them with carpet lining. The regular carpet lining seems like it would be easier to manage/install, would provide some insulation and would be easier to clean. I suppose most people are following the trend of building walls with wood. Maybe you could start or restart the walled carpet trend. 😉 Congrats on getting a 2nd Safari! That’s cool.
I love your videos are you going to do more videos cuz I would love to see more of your travels so stay safe be careful out there and happy travels and be careful out there
Indeed. More videos coming. I’m working on one today. Kind of a recap of what I’ve been up to and things I’ve done to the van recently. Thanks for hanging in there. Glad you’ve enjoyed the videos. 😉
Hi there! Mine are BF Goodrich, Light Truck tires. They make a few types of LT tires, so decide which is best for your usage. For me, I do mostly backroad, dirt, rock and gravel driving, so I went with the Mud Terrain tire. BF Goodrich LT 215/75R15 - Mud Terrain. Thanks for checking out the video. 👍✌️

It was very informative. I’d rather see just a couple of vehicles than a fleet of campers at a rally.
Ill never understand people destroying abandoned buildings. Cool video troy. Maybe see ya out there !
I will watch anything that is put together well. Scenic and informative.... greatly appreciated.
Thanks Michelle…glad you like it. 👍
Thanks for the tip, yeah ,i dont want too park next to the toilet, pay, dont really need a camp host. Etc.
Love the background music! 🎶
Very cool 😎
Thanks!
Such beautiful footage. Such a gorgeous place. Thanks for sharing, friend!

I don't believe I've ever dealt with this type but a good lawn blower may help clear a camp area of those thorns
Great Video!
Thanks Don! Glad you liked it. 😁
Okay, the mineshaft music was scary but at the end of 50’ my heart jumped out of my chest! Great video😂

A man named Steve Comisar sold a "solar-powered clothes dryer" for $39.99. Once he received the money, customers were mailed a clothes line
