  • Building options in Mexico outlying pueblos have expanded a lot in the last decade or so. The option of using a steel lid on the lower foundation has saved us a lot of time and was a bit cheaper than the traditional method. You could use this method with steel beam support or with concrete and rebar support or with wood support. So, factoring in the current price of lumber, concrete, rebar , steel beams and galvanized steel decking, you can choose a method that aligns with your needs regarding time and budget; i.e. concrete and rebar beams with galvanized corrugated decking, or steel beams with corrugated, or wood beams with corrugated etc.
The main advantage of this system is the time factor. Building the forms with cimbra concrete forms for the traditional concrete roof is tedious and time consuming, taking weeks (when you include curing) even on a smaller structure like this one.
Obviously it's difficult to compute exact costs when comparing options but as far as we can tell it comes out pretty close, price-wise - so the savings are with time and added structural stability..

Very good work! Such fast progress! 🚀
Busy binge watching all these “old” videos. Can’t _wait_ to see the finished house. 🏡🤞🏼

T, watching your BIM videos to escape and de-stress from caregiving woes. Sure beats politics which was my old "go-to". Now it's just old.

Yeah, the politics are grinding us all down.

I have family back home in the field of construction however I was never introduce to the family trade so please I apologize if I sound stupid. I have a question about using corrugated steel as the subfloor to hold the concrete floor. I notices you put a wire mesh on the floor before putting the concrete. Those the wire mesh act like a rebar to hold the concrete? Thank you Kindly

is the rebar inside of the concrete columns?

Yes, the columns have a rebar structure interior

Question, was no safety precautions required for this? Is fall protection and everything else osha complains about not needed for this kind of work?

Haha. We're in Mexico. There's no OSHA here. However, not a scratch on anyone through the entire process!

Never mind haha. I realize this is in Mexico.
I was looking at this and by the end of the video I couldn't believe it was America. And sure enough it wasn't. 😂😂 I forgot there's no safety laws, and more good luck than anything down there

@@buildinginmexico that's awesome. I was just is confused because OSHA is a dick. Way overkill, and I was like there's no safely whatsoever being considered here, so it kinda blew my mind. But that's cool. Work probably gets done way faster and cheaper.

@@fukkayuu Yes, a lot of luck involved but also, they fully understand the danger and don't take on risky moves they can't confidently execute.

are you going to make your roof this way as well? Im thinking of building my house like this in dominican republic

also, what is the gauge of the corrugated steel decking. Thanks in advance !

I don't remember. I'll check on that. There are charts online that show you the span and weight bearing characteristics of the different thicknesses of the decking. You'll want to look that up to figure out how that information fits in with your specific requirements and select the thickness best for your application.

The roof will be wood beams with wood planking covered with torch-down rolled roofing and clay tiles.
