I love watching your videos and have gotten brave in doing my sketching thanks to you. I like to add botanicals to my journals, also mushrooms and birdhouses. One thing I find difficult to sketch is tree bark. Maybe some day you could do a video on that. I always look forward to your videos and enjoy everything that you share!
Lovely! You are a really good instructor! ...I'll have to look back on your videos and see what other things you have sketched. I did some mushrooms using a charcoal pencil a few years ago and it was Fun! "🤔where did that sketch go?" 😆😂I'll find it! Thanks so much and have a wonderful weekend!🙋💚🌺
I love it! The fact you just start with pen is always wild to me. I have to do pencil always. Even when water coloring. I need a rough sketch. I need to practice and get more confidence so I can let go. I love your style and how you teach. That plant is cool. I really liked your Instagram posts of the botanical studies...I'd love some videos of that maybe. I always love birds and flowers, so anything with those! I'm so glad it's warming up - it's 50-70 degrees here now and ahhh I've missed the sun!
I sketched along with you today, I think that helps me learn better so I use your drawing as my reference. I really enjoyed drawing the mushrooms and birdhouses. I would like to be able to sketch like cute cottages or houses. Stone garden walls with flowers. Doorways. It is unbelievable to me when you speak of your weather, I live in Central Florida, it was 85F earlier this week.
Love this! I've learned so much from you and always enjoy your videos! I'd love to see sketches of roses and daffodils please. I tend to zentangle and doodle, my brain seems to get confused when I am sketching but practice makes perfect. As long as I am enjoying it, I just keep going. Thank you so much for sharing, take care x
You are correct when you say that it is a pretty invasive plant....boy - it spreads everywhere here in Manitoba. You are also correct - they really are a beautiful little plant to come across. Thank you for sharing.
I find doodling relaxing and it doesn't matter if I'm the one doing it or watching you do it on video. What a nice way to start the day. Beautiful drawing! Thank you!
I enjoyed watching you sketch this so much! I will certainly have a go at this. I am planning to make a nature journal, and I’ve been doing some little watercolour paintings to eventually put in it and I want to do some of these sketches that you teach, I would love something like this in my journal. Again I thank you for sharing your talents Michelle, you are so clever! 😀 I know you are planing to draw some frog, how about some cute little cottages? Just a suggestion, only if you want to. x
Thank you for all your great tips. I like when you show a focus on series of drawings thematically. Mushrooms, mushroom houses, etc.. I have taken your ideas from drawing trees and incorporating truck textures into my weaving and needle artwork. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and inspiration!
Vetch is a legume and is related to peas. Next time you see it, grab a bit of the leaves and have a nibble. It tastes like snap peas and is very slightly sweet. My horse absolutely loves it. We mostly have the common purple vetch in New Brunswick but we also have a yellow variety.
Happy Saturday Micgelle!!! This is one f my FAVORITE of the Pea family ( Legume) We have them here as n S.W. Iowa.. Purple/ Pink Vetch, and I think a yellow variety but a bit different..that grows out at the park/ pond.. I think you were also referencing another lovely cut flower garden relation. Sweet Pea....That can grow as a perennial in some areas... I always remember a older neighbor lady back in the 70's and 80's who had an amazing Sweet Pea garden, and would bring up a bunch in the summer when I lived or visited at home in DownEast Maine. So thoughtful and generous! I miss that! Your Botanical art is truly rendered so realistically, to my mind any way!!! Thank You for your generous time in sharing your passion here!! It is very much appreciated and admired!!!🌹🐚🌱🤗💝 Warmest Regards!! Oh, we had a light dusting is Snow earlier this afternoon.. Mixed bag of t-storms and snow in forecast next couple days! Crazy! We could use some rain for sure!! - Mindi🙋♀️
I know how cold it can be in Ontario during the winter! I had a sister living there who was married to a dentist, but he passed away! My sister was a teacher/photographer! She's now in The Philippines!!! By the way, this pencil art is soooo ghoooddd!!! tfs
Growing up on a farm in southern MS, the adults hated Crown Vetch. The cattle didn't eat it but it attracted the deer and it crept into the yard and garden and took over. But I always loved how delicate it looked. I don't think I've ever sketched it but now i will. :)
This may sound funny, but I am planning on making a Little Red Riding Hood journal. My favorite color and one of my favorite childhood books all wrapped up into one😊. I would like to see how to sketch a very simple Red Riding Hood and wolf. I just love your botanical plants, though, and plan on trying to sketch them also. I have such fun drawing the mushrooms you taught us about. Thank you so much for all the time you put into these videos. ❤
I love watching you sketch. I am getting better with my botanical sketches, but i am doing a journal about our visits to the local zoo, and I would love some tips on sketching animals, especially an elephant, please. xx
I also have difficulty in drawing tree bark. It would be great if at some point you could do a video and show everybody needing advice on how to draw bark.
Hi Michelle, I wanted to draw something, but couldn’t figure out what to draw out of all of the things in the world, lol! I then thought about you. Unfortunately, I can’t think of anything to recommend, but if can tell you that those tendrils are called , Klingons, lol, Jk! Sorry, I can’t resist a Star Trek joke. Tfs, Julie 🥰
It's a beautiful plant, but it is invasive. Unfortunately that causes problems in the ecosystem where it and other invasive plants grow. There are many plants that are destructive to native plants. It's a shame because so many are beautiful. I live in North Carolina, U.S.A where kudzu covers trees, electric poles, even buildings. I don't know why, but many invasive species came from Japan and other Asian areas. I love the beauty of these plants, though. Thank you for this video, it's lovely.
Any idea how to sketch a tall tree from the view of standing under the tree looking up. My baby sister put in a request for me to make a piece ... but I'm having issues with the perspective.?
I have recently started following you, in the few short weeks I feel like I’ve learned a lot. My biggest obstacle is my perfectionist nature. I only use pencils, so I can erase, over and over, and over. Any suggestions to get over this? I know I need to loosen my grip on my pencil, and keep practicing my sketching. Was wondering what your background, education, formal art school, or if you are self taught. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I’m trying to watch as many if your videos as I can, so many things I want to try. You make it seen so effortless as watch you. I live in Lincoln Nebraska in the middle of the USA.
These don’t grow in the Western Cape…Mediterranean type climate. Our commonest blue/ purple wildflower is Echium Vulgare which is EVERYWHERE! My favourite thing to sketch is definitely botanicals. I just wish I were better at it.
Oh, my! ❤ I love watching you doodle... I was just catching up with your videos and wanted to say I hope your hip is feeling better. ❤

This is so great! I tried sketching along but I was using a Pilot ball pen so not much difference is line strength, but great to have a go!

Hello, gorgeous! Thank you but a little too complicated for me😢❤

Watching you always makes me feel like I can just pick up a pen and sketch. 🫶
