Yeah they have put a cover over the table so it doesn't get damaged. Haven't played on that specific table but know where it is and the felt there is pretty good tbh.

The bumps in the tunnel make it stop midway. The faster it goes the harder it hits the bumps which makes it lose momentum faster, whereas you just need to hit it hard enough to get through the incline of the tunnel and it'll just roll smoother on the bumps. Just imagine a car going over a speed bump (or dozens of speed bumps), you can drive at a safe speed and go unharmed or floor it and possibly crash.
