    Best review on this setup yet. Of all the reviews I've seen nobody indicated whether the water bottle nests in the Adventure cup. Well done!

    I have one of those bottle holders too and I like the idea of strapping on the two extra pouches, I think I will try it! I have that same Ozark knife, spoon and fork set, nice to know that you can strike a ferro rod with it too!

      karenchakey Definitely try it out! They are canteen pouches purchased for very cheap on ebay (under $10 for the set, I believe). They do a great job of holding extra gear and making the H2O pouch much more of a day kit. Thank you for stopping by and watching! -Dave

    I like the ozark. seems like a cool little cutlery set.

    I might look into it for carrying water attached to my gearslinger
    thanks for sharing

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats for watching, Denis! I really appreciate it, my friend! The ozark is very cool (much better than a spork) and only about $5 here in the US at walmart. I believe you can also get them through amazon if i am not mistaken. If you cannot find one, let me know...and I can send you one. The condor h2o pouch is great. The front pocket has plenty of room, I just needed a bit more space for my emberlit stove or a trangia and my Mora of course. I got the h2o pouch at amazon for about $20 shipped and have carried it ever since. It would attach nicely to your gearslinger. It only has the molle webbing, though, not the fastener button straps. Your videos are such an inspiration to my channel, Denis, and I really appreciate it. Your past Morakniv videos are the reason why I started with and continue to use and love Moras to this day. You can also see in this video that when it comes to sure-fire, I carry your vaseline-cotton ball-tin foil cubes and have since I saw you make them. Brilliant idea. Thanks again for your views, comments and support, brother! -Dave

    I run a similar setup with a shoulder bag and 2 Molle pouches. I have a stainless GI canteen cup, lip and stove, with a lexan canteen, a Trip Tarp, space blankets, Sawyer mini and bag, ferro rods, Mora Robust, Swiss army, compass, fire kit with tinder and bellows, fresnel lens, bank line, flash light, head lamp and all can be slung over a shoulder and are great for a day hike. Never go on a hike without basic supplies, all it takes is a slip or a fall and you are on your own.

    I did about the same as yours but with some different items. Using the Condor H20 pouch. Starting at the bottom of the of the pouch there is a Oilcamp Stainless Steel Space Saver Cup. Then the Stanley Adventure Cook Camp System which fits ( sits ) inside the cup. The tapered sides of the Stanley Camp Cook kit fits inside the cup like it was made for it. Along the outside of the Stanley is a long handled Titanium spoon. Inside the Stanley is the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking 3" Stove. On top of the Stanley is a Trangia Alcohol burner so I can cook with either alcohol or wood. The outside pocket of the Condor has a plastic ( Flask shaped ) bottle which has the Denatured Alcohol for the Trangia. Next to it is a fero rod for lighting the burner or starting a fire. Folded next to the fero rod is a bandana which can be used if the handles of either pot gets to hot for a bare hand to touch. All of it together makes one small complete cooking outfit. Thanks to using a wood fire mine has a nice blacken bottom and sides to it which I think helps it to heat up quicker.
    I haven't gotten the two side pouches but I really like your idea on them. Two of them will offer a lot more space for other items and I can see in the future where I will be adding a couple to my initial setup.

    Nice sheath on that Mora. Did I miss something or did you not say where you got it from? I also have a no-name folding saw which works great. It's fantastic and fits my trousers pockets so it can go with me wherever I go much like a folding knife.
    Good stuff.

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching, my friend! I did not mention the sheath, although I probably should have. Its a "Pathfinder Leather Sheath for Mora Knives" that Dave Canterbury used to sell on thepathfinderstore.com. Right after I bought that one, he stopped selling them on his site. Its too bad because I really like it a lot and it fits all of my Moras very well. The #2 in the video is a bit loose, being that its my main blade for that sheath. He does sell a similar Mora sheath in brown leather that I bought (and like) but like the older model black ones better. Thicker leather and thinner profile. Maybe someday he will carry the black ones once again. The no name folding saw is pretty decent, but it only cuts in one direction, where the laplander cuts in both, but we make use of what we have until our budgets allow us to upgrade :) Thanks again for all of your support, sir! Nice talking with you! -Dave

    Awesome video! Let me tell you why? Ready? Grab a brew and sit back then. :) lol
    First of all, great daypack. All that's missing really is cover. Easily added too.
    I love that you walk around with your striker whacking rocks to see what works. That's wild!
    I really love nesting kit, as we all do I guess. :)
    The point you made about sticking ferro rods in everywhere is just the same as I do. Lol
    My wife has asked me on many many occasions, "how many ferro rods do you need?"
    As many as I can get on me or in my pack! Lol
    Never have fire covered well enough. :)
    And most importantly...you did give me a great idea with this vid! I forgot entirely that i had one of those camp utensils! Fork,knife and spoon combo. A gift actually, from my good friend Matthias of PinewoodCH channel.
    So buddy..this was a great video! Thanks so much for doing it!
    Be very well indeed
    Craig

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Forestwalker111 Thank you, Craig! I took your advice and grabbed a brew...actually I grabbed a couple of brews..lol! I have thrown a 55 gallon drum liner in this a couple of times and you are right, it would make an excellent daypack. My problem is that it's too light for me to carry alone. I always end up throwing this in a pack with other gear just to add weight for exercise. When I am on my daily hikes with Ember in the woods, I always "pack heavy", just to carry extra gear and sweat and struggle a bit. I don't know why..lol..maybe just to get the feeling that I am working out there.
      For the amount of time I have been hitting the striker with rocks, I am starting to get a better grip on the "type" of rocks that will get sparks. I am no expert, but after randomly trying so many rocks, I had to retain some sort of information. Nesting kits are great, even if they are mismatched. Sometimes, you just cannot afford full factory "kits", whereas collecting as your go can save you a lot.
      I, too, am just obsessed with having ferro rods all over the place. That is too funny. You have given me some great ideas with using the pocket organizers as fire kits! They hold ferro rods perfectly! I mostly have Nathan4071's ferro rods because they are great and very affordable but, as we talked about before, I also love the firesteel.com rods. They are great, too, just much more expensive. I have their Gobspark and Scout and I think they are just as good, if not better, than the Light my Fire ones.
      Yes, break out that hobo tool! And if it's the ozark trail one, the back of the blades absolutely rips a ferro rod!
      Thank you for such a great comment, my friend! It is always so great to talk with you, my friend! -Dave

    Was looking into the Condor bottle bag and lo and behold, to my non surprise, there's your video on it. Lol. Oldie but a goodie! Any suggestions after 2.5 years of this system and others to compare?

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching, my friend! I am not really sure how it compares to others, as I have never owned any of them, but I can say that I have no idea why anyone would spend more than this Condor H2O pouch costs on a similar item. This thing is perfect...I love it and have been using it for years! Nice to hear from you! -Dave

      HighCarbonSteel Love the only valid alternative in my opinion is the Maxpedition 12x5 bottle bag which Is $50 but would be necessary for a wider cool set as well as giving an extra 2 inches for nesting options. Plus the Maxpedition has thicker padding. But because I have the Stanley coffee press with a nesting system to go with it, as well as the same Stanley adventure cook cup, Stanley 27ounch wide mouth bottle, and Ozark trail cup system to use for food and water purifying, I think I'm gonna get both the condor and the Maxpedition. lol...but now because of your review I know I can trust the Condor as much as I know I can trust the Maxpedition!!! Thanks as always Dave!

    Nice kit! Do you still use it? Has it remained basically the same or have you updated it? I'd suggest a Silky Saw, much better than the Bahco Laplander. Great video!

      Thanks, Rob! I still use the core of this kit and yes, its gone through several updates. I no longer use the canteen pouches with this kit, just the H2O pouch and it's contents. Yes, someday I do plan to pick up a small silky. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment, my friend! -Dave

    Problem with watching these videos, is that every time I find something really cool, I go on Amazon and find that the item can't be delivered to my country. This setup with the Stanley and the Condor is PERFECT for my use. I have the Trangia cookset and its much too bulky in my pack and takes up a lot of space, and I only need three of the 5 items in it. What do you use for holder/windscreen when you use the Trangia alcohol burner?

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry to hear the items cannot delivery to you country, my friend. For a windscreen/holder, I either use my Emberlit stove or the stainless steel stove stands from the pathfinder store. I hope this helps! -Dave

    • @Kasino80
      @Kasino80 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HighCarbonSteel Love Yeah, there's been a bunch of things that won't be shipped to Denmark. The Stanley cookset is available in stores here, but that nifty bag is not, amd can't be shipped. I've been thinking of getting the small IKEA utincils holder as the holder for the trangia alcohol stove. It seems like a nice setup and doesn't take up much space.

    I know you're just showing us your cook kit but wouldn't it be beneficial to have some "FOOD" to actually cook or eat in your kit? You have 18 ways of starting a fire but no small first aid kit in case you burn yourself, or food to cook or eat. How about throwing in some coffee or tea packets, oatmeal or lipton soup packets, ramen noodles, or even bouillon cubes. Do you use the canteen in one of those two additional pouches to actually lug around water in? Think that may be a good idea? I know this video was made 4 years ago so maybe you have updated what you carry in your kit by now. I hope you have. I think it's a great lightweight kit you have assembled. It just is missing a few things. Good Luck

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching, Bart! This kit was more of a basecamp kit that I would carry in my main pack, which contained the items you mentioned. -Dave

    • @bartwalker474
      @bartwalker474 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HighCarbonSteelLove Thanks for replying Dave. I knew it had to be something like a basecamp kit or something like the bare essentials that you have one you every time you go even 100 yards away from camp etc. etc. I still think it's a great kit. Thanks for showing it to all of us. How has some of the stuff held up over 4 years. Pouches good? how about the zippers or some of the other gear?
