    Similar performance from both clubs. One is forged face. One is completely forged. I'll take the JPX 923 Forged every time.

    Jay, another superb comparison review. Think your audience would like like the 790 against the highly rated and popular Srixon zx5. Also, don’t forget the most under appreciated player distance iron , the Wilson d9 forged. Keep up the great reviews.

      Wilson irons are due in a matter of days 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I think it would be cool if you did a throw back club like the jpx 800 vs jpx 923

      If I had an old head I would happily give it a test..... Just don't have anything that old...... Think the oldest I have is the EZ Forged/Cast.

    Great comparison. I'm just getting back into golf after a good 15yr break where I have only been playing 3-4 times a year. Before the break I was off 16 and feel I could get back there with a new set of clubs. My current MacGregor M565 V Foils (forged) have served me very well but time to treat myself. I will be buying second hand though and until today, it was between the P790's, T200's and ZX5 MkII's. Now I have a fourth option. Very nearly bought Mizuno MX-15 irons when I eventually got the M565's (due to an offer in the main)., so wondering whether to give the JPX 923 forged a shot given they will be a newer model I can afford over the P790's. Now off to check more reviews of said irons. Thanks for the videos in advance.

      Glad you have enjoyed the video and got something from it. The new JPX925 means that the JPX923 irons now may well come down in price from a second hand perspective. Although the Forged version is still current and won't be replaced until the new year 👍🏻

    Would love a measure on flyer lies and if either club is more susceptible to it?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally very difficult due to the twists involved with the club hitting the ground and getting a consistent amount of identical twist. Although one thing is certain, is that lower spin profile clubs have a larger tendency to suffer from fliers due to the higher effect on the amount of spin reduced. An daft but easy to remember example would be taking 1000rpm off a 10000 rpm ball would only affect by 10%, taking 1000 rpm off a ball spinning at only 4000rpm has a 25% potential change in flight....
      That's why generally I've always played with as high a spin as, I can get away with 👍🏻

    Appreciate the review information. Currently in the market and these are the two irons on my preferred list along with the Ping I525's. Leaning towards Mizuno for the feel and look

      Wouldn't be a bad choice whatsoever but just to put a spanner in the works..... The rumours are that the i530 is just around the corner.... 👍🏻👍🏻

    What a fantastic comparison. Clearly, two of the best irons from two of the best iron lines. Very difficult to choose based on performance so looks and feel may be the difference. Does the P790 have a thinner sole? That can be an important consideration.

      Both very very close in dimensions 👍🏻👍🏻

    Great review again :) how about Honma TR21X? Though a couple years old, TR21X is still the latest of the TR family for players' distance ..

    Hello!
    Your club and comparison videos are spot on! Very interesting and in-depth.
    Looking for a couple of new irons myself. Today i have Ping i model E1, are these comparable to these? Would have been very interesting to see irons from 2023 and one like Ping i from 10 years ago in a comparison :) Have it happen alot and are my irons still "good to go"?! :)
    Kepp up the good work!

      Glad you enjoyed the video, have you seen Part 1 also?
      If you are considering one of these two to purchase, if you can its important that your son is correctly custom fitted as it can make a massive difference 👍

    Interesting. I wonder how the TaylorMade P790 will stack up agains the Mizuno pro 245s when they arrive?

      Looks and feel really, looking forward to the new Mizuno Pro 245 to see what that brings to see if that complicates the choice further 😊

    I have the 2021 P790 with MMT125 S - due to recent swing change the MMT feels very heavy and a lot of work (46years, 7HC, driver SS ~103 on TM). I have the S23s (50/55/60) with a DG 120 S300 and get on with them brilliantly. I am thinking to go to a Mizuno fitting place near me and get on the shaft optimizer. Watching this video made me take a look at something. The center of my strike pattern on the 50 and 55 are ~10mm toe. Probably the reason why I like them so much with the toe weighting? Gut feeling tells me the 923 forged would be a good transition from S23 to irons for me? Or are there other Mizuno irons that would be better suited for toe strikes? I’m ok with testing anything. LMK

      @AskGolfNut  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd say that if your patterned toe strikes continue into the irons then using something like the Forged would works very well. It's specifically designed to be more toe biased in its forgiveness so it would blend seemlessly into your S23s 👍🏻👍🏻

      @@AskGolfNut just catching up on the live from today. Appreciate your channel very much!
      Had a chance to hit the Forged and Tour side by side and decided to get a set of PW-6i of the JPX Tour 923s for now. Shaft optimizer led me to a really nice shaft for me (Modus115 Stiff @ 84mph 7i). Felt like butter, and got better height and spin than the forged (a better fit also on TM optimizer). 173carry, 5200rpm, 1.42 SF, 88ft. V1x RCT
      Thanks for leading me in the right direction

    Interesting. I would have thought the fair comparison would have been the Hot Metal vs 790.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, the Hot Metal would be directly compared against the Stealth part of Taylormade's lineup..... P790 is JPX923 Forged and also Pro 225 (both are bridging irons) 👍

    I know it might be difficult/long but it was be really cool if you showed the actual forgiveness shots. It would just add more suspense watching the simulator lol

    Hi Jay, I was looking at the P770 and started doing some research and come across your videos. Absolutely excellent content.
    I thought I the 770 was the competitor to the Mizuno forged so this has surprised me.
