    Great tutorial! Really nice descriptions of the techniques and I really appreciated the clear definition of scumbling; I’m completely new to painting so explanations of the jargon is very helpful. Thank you!

    Hi, I love the way you taught us how to use pallet knife for beginners.
    I would like to learn how to use pallet knife for a thicker aspect of texture ( like tracks of trucks on a snow), please. I think that it might be the Impasto style. I am not sure if I am right.
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Elena
    P.S. Happy new year to you!

      Hi! There is nothing quite as satisfying as painting impasto with a palette knife. And yes, You are correct, thickly applied texture is called Impasto. If you like texture, I think you may really enjoy this tutorial.: th-cam.com/video/DPJKFdB0pL0/w-d-xo.html

      Hi! I wanted to show a few basic techniques in this video. if you’d like more detailed info on how to use each particular knife and more about ratios of medium to paint for impasto, you might enjoy this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/DPJKFdB0pL0/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
      I have a full length 8 painting “impasto challenge” coming up on my websites watch- free page in May as well - we will be creating landscapes and animals and florals and more all with the knife.

    Love the tutorial!! I used palette knives years ago
    And I'm renewing my interest for abstract art. I'm a analog collage artist, would like to expand my mediums. Is heavy body paint necessary? And also does canvas have to be primed? Thank u

    • @jesserobertson
      @jesserobertson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m happy your enjoying your knives again. Heavy body paint is very helpful, particularly for the impasto style techniques - it allows for thick, raised textures and can be controlled more easily. You can add modelling paste or heavy gel to softer bodies paints to thick them up 🙂🎨

    • @jesserobertson

      I’m not sure why you would think a professional painter would need to purposefully paint their hands to look cool? It happens quite naturally, I assure you. Thanks for popping by to watch and comment.
