They could've kept it strictly a comedy series but they didn't, they in write meaningful dialogue and build fantastic character depth, arguably better than the canon series actually. I much prefer TFS' Frieza opposed to the canon version, she's just that much more menacing. Fantastic from TFS, DBZA is so popular for good reason.
Even after multiple viewings of this arc, some of the jokes still catch me off guard. Best one in this episode is when krillin replies, are you still on about that? Love the writing for this 30 yr old series

Technically, she _is_ an android, i.e. a human-like robot, until wished to turn into a human. Against what the Abridged Trunks says, the technical term is *not* a cyborg. The only cyborg in the whole team Androids is doctor Gero, the only one possessing a human brain or any biological parts for that matter.
Konsta Heikkilä No way. 18 is DEFINITELY a cyborg. She, like her brother 17, was human first until Gero transformed her and her brother into their current states.
Proof that she was once human is the fact that she still had reproductive organs after her transformation. (No, don't ask me why Gero kept them in there, but that's what happened... Did he expect a cold-blooded killer to want to become a mother after killing Goku?)
The still-functioning organs are how 18 was able to have a child with Krillin: their daughter Marron, as shown in the Buu Saga.
The other proof is the fact that 17 and 18 hated Gero for turning them into "androids" in the first place.
You may have your facts mixed up, because KRILLIN, not 18, wished for her to be fully human, though he couldn't get the wish granted.
