- In this video, our family prepares to get started on our very first ever cabin build! We finished leveling the pad and pulled a few more trees. The wife and kids put together the new cement mixer we purchased from Harbor Freight.

I like the way your taking down those trees using a chain, leverage, and a tractor getting the whole tree down roots and all, that's the way I would do it!!!

As always I love your show. My family ( Ransom) comes from Michigan. Me and my sister were raised by my Grandfather on his apple ranch in N. California. Doing chores and helping out was a part of our life. I asked my sister why the kids down the road never had chores to do.. she said " they're rich and lazy" 😜

Chad, I wish I could be there to lend a hand. I probably wouldn't be all that much help because construction isn't one of my gifts but I'd do what I could. However, I believe that with the right "technical support" and your family, you will build the new house and learn a great deal in the process! I'm praying for your success.

Yeah that fan would be perfect for that! I’ve used other cordless fans before and this one totally blows away all the others!

Good question! There’s a USB port on it that my wife uses to charge her phone. The downfall is the fan had to be running in order to charge her phone. Not sure if the fan charges through the port or not?

You are lucky we have to blast rock, remember check and purchase building permit for 1 year from the township first once you submit your plans or they will make you start over.

Thank you Jim! Actually we didn’t set up batter boards but I can see where it would’ve been much easier! We’re just using 4 foot rebar streaked a few feet back from the corners. Where the strings cross is the center of the holes. Diggin all 34 or more holes all by hand! Fun stuff! 😆 These girls are gonna be wore right out! 😂

In your exuberance to begin your first off-grid build, please remember, it IS an off-grid build and depending on your location, if you sustain an injury, you may be miles or hours away from medical health. Reason I say this, i've watched many off-grid builds and people have gotten injured with no medical support close by. Also, in this type of build, two person integrity is a must to ensure safety.
In NO way am I attempting to dampen your spirits on your build, just remember there is ample opportunity to get hurt.
