Grayson, the reason people learn Arabic is because it is the language of Quran. Sometimes one verse will not have an exact word so many learn Arabic to fully understand the word of God. Most Americans know how to say peace be upon you, praise god and god willing and the words for prayer. To read the translation, is not reading the Quran. You have to study the verses word by word, but Translation is a beginning. If you are Muslim thats nothing more normal than you schould want to study the Quran :), the Quranic Arabic Basics. I need your help. I am trying to help someone I love to find his way to Islam. He is evangelical and is very convinced about Christianity. Maybe some converts can help me how I can bring him Islam closer. Whatever I tell him, he cites something from the bible or tells me the Quran was man written and says whoever wrote the Quran hasn’t read the Old Testament..I feel helpless. Selem brother, I would just like to point out the part where you discussed learning Arabic and getting proficient in it, please don't get discouraged by this detail. let me tell you this from an Arab born Muslim who never went to the west. becoming Muslim does not include learning Arabic, anyone making that claim is ignorant of the teachings of Islam, learning Arabic is not a pillar "rokn" of Islam nor is it a pillar "rokn" of faith "Iman" nor is it mentioned in the Coran / Suna that you should learn Arabic EXCEPT, reciting Coran during prayers, and that my friend would take you a day or two at best to memorize, just reciting the chapter "el-fatiha" and "Ikhlass" is sufficient for you to fulfil all your prayers for life. Also know that every important book has already been translated. you can learn Islam and practice it as a whole by just learning Islam within your own language. Now learning Arabic does bring lots of benefits as the reward "Ajr" for reciting Coran is very high, but listening to Coran is also rewarded. One last thing to mention, please don't go the "miracles of the Coran" path, just read Coran with an open hear, and leave all kinds of attitude / arrogance aside when reading it, and you should find your answer "inchaa Allah".

Yes ❤❤❤❤ Quran says do not divide in sects. Unfortunately, just like christian get their knowledge from church rather than actually reading bible.... it is the same with muslims too.
They learn about sects through their forefathers and sect leaders rather than reading Quran itself

thats it in the Quranic Religion - Islam - there is no word of shia or sunni. Only hanif Islam, the monotheism.

You can't ask for intercession to Mohammed pbuh or Ali Huseyn neither for forgiveness nor for Shafaat ( to double the good deeds) - we need the shafaat of Allah swt
