New Super Mario Bros. - Two-Player Mario Vs. Luigi Mode (Direct DS Capture)

This is a capture of me and a friend playing the Mario Vs. Luigi mode in New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki. I'm player one (Mario) and Keet is player two (Luigi).
I’m back from Florida after visiting Keet from the KeetAndBait channel, and I’m ready to start posting all of the multiplayer footage we recorded while I was there. A huge thanks goes out to Keet for having me visit and helping me to record all of this awesome footage.

While I was visiting Keet, I recorded some new multiplayer footage from New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. My prior video suffered from some occasional stuttering due to my previous desktop having trouble running the 3DS capture software. This new video no longer has that issue. Also, due to Keet’s comparable skill level, this new gameplay is far more competitive and interesting.
Aside from the touch screens games that were mostly reused from Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros. features a main two-player competitive mode that is loosely based on the original Mario Bros. arcade game. You generally collect a certain number of stars to win (which you can alter in the options menu), but you can also kill your opponent with items as well to deplete all of his lives (if you choose limited lives).
I first played this mode back in 2006 when the DS Lite came out because I had both a DS Lite and an original DS for a short time while I was trying to sell my original DS on eBay. I thought it was a fun little mode, but nothing to write home about. Keet had never played this mode before since he only purchased a DS a few years ago.
This multiplayer mode has five separate stages to play on (grass, underground, ice, pipe and castle), so we showed off all five stages in a best of five set with 1 win, 5 stars, and 3 lives for the settings. These matches got really intense and exciting, but you’ll have to watch to see who won.
Recorded with OBS Studio at 60 frames per second. I'm using a New 3DS XL and Keet is using a 3DS.

I loved the multiplayer in this game. All my friends sold their DSes for some reason so I can't play it anymore. Great maps, great music, chaos, and minigames. What's not to like?
NSMB was made really great and I wish it's sequels got close to how good it was, but with multiplayer you need space for four people.

I personally think the inclusion of a pvp mode like this in all the NSMB games would have been great. Maybe the newer ones would have been better received by fans too
