    I’ve been staying at Holmsley for decades, landing strips etc clearly visible. Some out buildings gone in recent years but the bare bones remain

    Where is this located me and my cousin love visiting these places, we've seen the RAF stanley cross airfield too

      Ashley Heath WW2 Bombing Range on google maps. There is a booklet called: 'Ashley Walk - its bombing range, landscape and history' on ebay. Also, type 'Ashley Walk Illuminated target arrow' into google maps - it will take you there. The largest bomb ever dropped on the UK during WW2 was dropped here by the RAF, the 'Grand Slam' 10 ton bomb designed by Barnes Wallis.
