My grandmother worked here during the war, she worked in the kitchens, and fondly remembered seeing the Royal family frequently, she would tell me how Glamis was very haunted, when she went to tell us about the ghosts my mum would intervene, so as we wouldn’t be scared. I did ask her before she passed and she told me how haunted it really was, wished I’d recorded it!!
Please, write down what you remember. Then, let it sit while you think about it, then come back and add to it as you remember. Before it is lost. Thank you.
I remember reading about glamis when I was very young, apparently a group of people went there trying to find any secret rooms, so they went around glamis & put a towel over every window in the castle, they double checked the windows were covered then went outside to check them, when they went outside to check there were 3 windows mysteriously not covered & the team couldn’t locate where these windows were…Secret rooms.
Yes you’re right. I found many different versions of that story but it seems there are rooms nobody can get too. Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙋♀️👻
The queen mother's two cousins, Nerissa and Katherine, were said to have died in 1941. However, they were not dead but hidden away in Earleswood Hospital, for the mentally disabled, others family members suffered the same fate, when they died only the staff were at the funerals, when it was revealed that the graves had only a number and tag the family paid for a head stone. They were never visited or received gifts. The fee for the gisputak was all that was paid for the cousins
Very interesting to learn of the history of the Queen Mother. Princess Charlottes looks so much like her. The music accompaniment to the video is lovely and adds to the atmosphere. Thanks for sharing.
Glamis Castle is a great place to visit ,though it's been a few years since I've been . My hubby and myself went one anniversary on the spur of a moment hailed a taxi ( we live a few miles away ) by coincidence the driver had worked for the Queen Mother at Glamis and told us a few funny stories. After touring the castle we went for lunch in the self service cafeteria the food was very good ,freshly caught salmon ,local strawberries, chocolate souffle and florentine biscuits, the castle is lived in by the family and is very interesting and so is the gardens with a doggy graveyard with little headstones for beloved pets . Glamis Castle is very well looked after. P.S. the village of Glamis had a folk museum xxJanieDundee
Cold dreary rainy dark day here in the United States. Listening to this has the perfect atmosphere to make it even more creepier. I just love listening to your voice tell these ghost stories. I eagerly anticipate the next one.
I am so glad you are enjoying listening on a dreary dark day in the United States! It's pretty cold here too and parts of the UK have snow (not where I am thankfully!) Yes stay tuned for the next one too 👻🙏
I visited Glamis Castle about 3 years ago. I was thrilled, as it was a place I long wanted to visit. The main driveway is a mile long. I only had about 3 hours there, but I wish I could have spent the whole day there. It's very interesting and obviously very old and well built. I would love to visit again. Whilst I was there, I got separated from my tour members and was up and down the main spiral stone staircase, trying to find the correct route to rejoin them. I never saw or heard anything spooky.
Thank you for the excellent ghost stories as always and history of Glamis Castle. The cruel fate of Janet Douglas at the hands of James V was quite sad. I'd never heard of the mass murder of Clan Ogilvy at Glamis. Though I'm not surprised considering in the aftermath of the Battle of Arbroath, that many innocents were slaughtered in violent retribution. I'd imagine Glamis would be crawling with ghosts.
@@ghostcasebook1266 is this the castle that has the ghost of a woman who has no tounge and when she appears she pionts to her bleeding mouth where her tounge got ripped out (its briefly mentioned in the Osbourne book)
It is, and you are correct that it is in my favourite Usborne book! but there is some debate if this story was a tale that found its way to Glamis via a resident visiting a town in Italy who heard a similar story about a nun (I think)
There was a story where people tried to find the hidden room. The guests went through out the castle and put bed sheets over all the windows, to see which window was not covered. This was done to find the hidden room.
Yes indeed there was. Some accounts say there was only one window identify as missing from the experiment, some say there were several. Eerie all the same! 👻
Glamis castle is so interesting and beautiful architecturally. One thing lacking badly is a 'Grand Entrance' .That pokey little entrance door certainly doesn't do the fabulous architecture any favours.
Another masterpiece and what is so odd is that in the past few days, I've been looking for videos on Glamis castle. Your video is everything and more - horrific, tragic story about the lovely Janet Douglas and so strange about 'the monster' - I know a branch of the Queen Mother's family had some genetic issues which resulted in cousins in QEII age range - institutionalized for severe learning disabilities. The cousin relationship was not super tight, genetically, with QEII - but definitely, these two old gals were hidden away and neglected. Anyway, I digress - your videos are perfection. I listen to them over and over again - they are so full of substance and information. Your channel has quickly become one of my top favorites! You are really talented!
Thank you so much Julie. I am so glad you enjoyed the video and the stories from Glamis. It is an amazing and mysterious place. You’re right, there definitely were members of the family institutionalised sadly, but I hope attitudes have changed these days. Who knows? So pleased you enjoyed the stories. And here I thought Glamis was merely a playwright's setting for dark deeds and royal intrigue. Thanks for fleshing out its history. Still dark but interesting. Love from Canada.
Great video! The thought of a ghostly beard brushing your face is pretty terrifying. Have to admire the people who see ghosts there and just somehow seem to calmly carry on and let the apparition complete its sighting. Think I would pass out.. lol...thanks for your work, impeccable.
I totally agree! It sounds awful. I think any ghostly nocturnal activity is creepy! Thank you so much for your kind comment Celeste, I really appreciate it 👻🙋♀️
You wouldn't pass out if you didn't know any otherway to live, but I doubt everything's calm at the castle.. they just probably realized the "ghosts" aren't going anywhere and it's best just to except their existence.. besides the dead can't hurt you unless it's something evil but usually there's a good reason for seeing an apparition so try not to be scared of the dead.
Hi. I watched your Glamis Castle video last night, and it was amazing. Very well done. It brought me back quite a number of years now, when I first visited Scotland with my parents. I'm first generation Candian born, but both my parents were born in Scotland, and my Mum was from Blairgowrie/Rattray... which of course is not too far from Glamis Castle. I remember driving by the Castle, and my Mum telling me to "keep a close watch " to the grounds of Castle, as I might see the Grey Lady. That was the first time I went to Scotland. I've been back in the UK numerous times since. So thank you so much. This video brought back a flood of memories for me when I was back in Scotland with my Mum and Dad. My Mum was born in 29, and she has told told me numerous stories of her days working in the old Strathmore Infectious Diseases Hospital, where she worked as what we would call a Registered Nurses Assitant nowadays. She's told me stories of when a patient unfortunately passed away, and she had to wheel the body down to the "cold room" in the hospital by herself. Unfortunately I never thought to ask her years ago if she ever had any Paranormal encounters. I would love to know if there is anything out there concerning ghost stories at the old Strathmore Hospital 😊
3:10 That's crazy! I know near me there is a really old manor house that has numerous secret tunnels and priest holes. In one back in the 70's, they found a new one which they weren't aware about and upon breaking in, saw the skeletal form of a priest in tattered clothing disintergrate.
I am from New Orleans and I've always been intrigued by old buildings and their history . I learned about Glamis in the 90's...honestly one of my favorite ghost legends ... hands down. You did a great job coving it. Thank you. 😊
I like how they always start out with all the problems going on at the haunted castle, sounds like an average weekend to me right here in Chicago. However, I like the ghost story, good video, nice and creepy too. I hope all the ghosts are getting even with the people who did them wrong !!

Very cool! I found out that my distant great grandfather is Lord John Lyon, and I am a direct decendant of the Lyon family. It's neat to hear the history of all of this and trace the family roots back. Very fascinating stuff and a great video.
I've changed from total skeptic to believer, many of these witnesses stories are fascinating, ghosts are absolutely real. Wonderful story telling, I become mesmerized listening to you. Thank you.
Well I am a psychic and yes, am very familiar with spirits of almost sll types. But I have never been to GLAMIS but always wanted to go. It was too far north for me to get to the times I visited the UK
Thank you! I've read other, rather sensationalized accounts, particularly of the human "monster" of Glamis. You present a view of the matter that is both humane, compelling and credible. Refreshing to come across!
Awhile back, some relatives did a lot of genealogy research finding a direct line to the Lyons of Glamis. Never one to leave stuff alone, I wanted to know more about the people, not just the names so I had researched a read a lot of this before but it is still extremely interesting and sad.
Thank you for this. I did ask a while ago and you came through. There must be many stories from Glamis that need exploring. Can't wait!!. It bought back memories of visiting those rooms. The main hall was where I felt most Ill at ease where I could sense an unnatural presence. Could you investigate who the little boy is, who sits outside the bedroom of the Queen Mother? Can't remember the story behind it. Thanks again, your calm, clear voice is a pleasure to listen to. 👻👻from 🇦🇺
I have been to the castle and the story given was it was an African servant boy. There had been some big "do" on at the castle and in all the festivity, nobody had remembered that this lad was "on duty" and he was still at his post waiting to be be given permission to stand down. The story goes he died of hypothermia, found frozen to his seat in the morning. He allegedly trips people up as they pass him sitting on the little stone ledge outside the bedroom. There is a shallow step, IIRC. I have seen someone trip and they were the most sceptical out of the whole company up until that point!
As a child I remember reading about the monster of glamis a child that had been born horribly disfigured and locked away in one of the rooms that was said to haunt the castle too
Resident of 🏴 but not a native. Great subject to pick GC Beautifully told and flawless, as always. After a hard day’s work this was my treat, along with a hot bath and a brew ….no cake though 😂 Keep up the amazing work ❤

Amazing tales, well-told. Can you imagine being a child who grows up in such a place? To be royal comes at a price. The Scottish name Brechin, by the way, is pronounced BREK-inn.
Janet Douglas is on my family tree, as well as Mary Queen of Scots, I just despise what Mary’s father did to Janet Douglas and her son when he was king of Scotland. I’m visiting Scotland next June and will definitely tour Castle Glamis.
King James a real gem of a human being. His hatred and paranoia caused way too much damage. The man should never have been king the power only corrupted him more. With the power of the crown he could pretty well do whatever he wanted and that's just plain not right
Hello R Turney, King James V of Scotland is not the same King James as in the King James Version of the Bible. King James V was the father of Mary Queen of Scots. She went on to have James Charles Stuart, 1566 - 1625, who became King James the VI and I, grandson of King James V of Scotland.
We have never been here regardless of driving past many times. Now I think it's time we took the children on a visit. Love anywhere with a haunted history. Does look great when there is snow all around
It is beautiful but it’s not a cheap day out to be honest and I don’t know if it’s cheaper to book things online these days. But it is a truly brilliant castle! 🙏👻
@@ghostcasebook1266 Can't be any worse than Dunrobin not to far from where we live. Great grounds and history. Kids love those though, worth making them sleepy 😁
Truly a remarkable place I went 5 years ago. I also sat in the Private Chapel at the very back. It's only small. Then I smelt a perfume scent and a hand on my right leg. I wasn't told about the Grey Lady who makes her appearance felt. Well I certainly did feel a presence 👻
I think Lady Janet got the ultimate justice . When one considers that her direct descendant Elizabeth Bowes - Lyon became a Queen - Consort of Great Britain and the last Empress of India Lady Janet's suffering was unimaginable , but it was not in vain . You can Rest Easy Gray Lady of Glamis .
And not only did her direct descendant Elizabeth become Queen Consort of Great Britain, but also Elizabeth's daughter and grandson became British monarchs, and their descendants thereafter became direct heirs.
Hi, Awesome live ghosts stories I enjoyed it can't wait to see more soon. How are you doing? I'm doing well. I had another ghosts experience in my apartment building. One day in 2002 a woman knocked at my door. I answered it. She said to me that she was looking for my mother. I said to her my mother is at work. She just stared at me, and said she would be back later. When I closed the door. For a few seconds. I opened it and she vanished before my eyes. I never saw her again. I told my mother about it. And she was shocked. The ghost that I saw never gave me her name before she vanished. Have a great day. See you next video greetings from Canada 😀
Thank you so much Michelle. I’m doing well except it’s cold and raining in the UK. Roll on summer! That’s a mysterious story. I wonder who that was? 👻🙋♀️
Wow that place is hoping!! Thank you for the history and background. I was fortunate to be able to visit Scotland for 10 days in 1996. I arrived right in time for the New Year Celebration. Had I known more about this Castle I definitely would have visited it at the time of the visit.❤️😃👍👍❤️
The long chain winding weight coming down from the clocktower through a hollow shaft in the staircase apparently is the cause of a lot of bumping and rattling in the night. In the daytime too I suppose eh.
I feel so sorry 🙏 for the Ogilvy clan--how awful and brutal‼️. I feel so sorry 🙏 for Janet Douglas, too. Being burned 🔥 at the stake has to be a horrible way to die.
I have absolutely loved watching this, your documentary voice is fantastic and needs to go professional in my opinon, and I am subscribing. Just one thing as a local to the area, Brechin, is pronounced Bree kn. All the best and I can't wait for more :) x
Wow, thank you! Ah so sorry about the pronunciation of Brechin and thank you for pointing that out! As a girl from South Wales my pronunciations are a bit wayward sometimes but as a place name I was unaware. I am so glad you like the video 👻🙋♀️
@Ghost Casebook You are very much welcome! I have read 📚 about Glamis castle before. It does have a very interesting, and tragic history. It seems to have started in 1486, when the lord of the castle at the time, trapped those clansmen in that room and let them starve to death. Or did the haunted history actually start before then?
Hi! TH-cam algorithm did something right and introduced me to you!! I’ve binged watched all your videos (some multiple times 🤪) and love them. Excellent job!! Subbed and bell has been rung. Thank you!!

So glad I found your channel! 🏰🏰🏰🏰
This the second time today I’ve read/heard about Janet Douglas… so weird. I read about her on FB because she was accused of witchcraft, about an hour ago, I didn’t twig at the time she lived in this castle. And now this..👀👀👀
when I was at Edinburgh castle (think 1993) I was alone in one room ahead of the tour group and took a picture with an older analog 35mm camera , no flash attachment and got an electric shock and that picture was black on the roll of film.. can't remember what room it was but had an orange flight suit in it ..
I know what you mean! Some of the castles in Wales are quite brutal in appearance too and I’m working on a video of another castle which also has a rather scary appearance! 👻🙋♀️
What about the ‘elemental ghost?’ The rotting figure that randomly appeared to people with a horrible smell, that was thought to be a combination of many ancient souls together in one apparition? Or was that the ‘dead man’ ghost mentioned here?
Can you visit and do a presentation on Fernihurst Castle in Scotland. When I did the family history on my Mom's, Mom's side, I traced our history to the Ker/Kerr of Fernihurst Castle, when the family moved to England, the spelling was changed to Carr. The Castle is still owned by the Carr family, in England. My Grandmother Tongue was Bertha Bell Carr, before she married my Grandfather, Theodore H. Tongue. Thank you Sandi Davis
Fabulous channel Mrs GC thank you, just found, your calm velvety voice is perfect for narration, as for the ''Monster'' sadly the aristocracy have a history of hiding away their own that had some form of disability or illness that was judged to preclude public knowledge as firebyrd mentions below, obviously Kings and Queens had to be 'perfect' fit strong etc, it's all a bit Aryan race but there you go, ironically they also have a history of inbreeding, to keep power within the extended family, but which has led to huge deformities like the Habsburg jaw and Tutankhamun
Thank you ever so much and welcome to the channel! I. am not sure my family would agree with velvety voice, but I’ll take it! I agree with your point that some things were swept under the rug as such. I hope you’ll enjoy looking at some other videos in time too 👻🙏🙋♀️

Very cool! I found out that my distant great grandfather is Lord John Lyon, and I am a direct decendant of the Lyon family. It's neat to hear the history of all of this and trace the family roots back. Very fascinating stuff and a great video.
00:18 24/5/23 Wednesday. Listening from Penang Island, Malaysia. Thank you. 🙏🏾
puma thank you so much and greetings to you 👻🙋♀️
I've changed from total skeptic to believer, many of these witnesses stories are fascinating, ghosts are absolutely real. Wonderful story telling, I become mesmerized listening to you. Thank you.
You are very kind indeed John and welcome to the channel 🙋♀️👻
How very sad and heartbreaking. I don’t think I would ever visit the castle.
My maternal and paternal ancestors with maybe Earl Beardie. The Lindseys, Ogilvy, Stewart's, Douglas...Thanks for sharimg.
Well I am a psychic and yes, am very familiar with spirits of almost sll types. But I have never been to GLAMIS but always wanted to go. It was too far north for me to get to the times I visited the UK
a realy difinitive account of what went on ,,including our late queen .. amazing stuff
Fascinating history 💜.
Superb as always, dark gloomy days are perfect for ghost tales thank you as always. 😊
Glad you like them Simon and I thank you for taking the time to comment. This means so much 👻🙏
@@ghostcasebook1266 Always a plesure Nicola, thank you have a good weekend. 😊
You too Simon 👻
As with every Ghost Casebook presentation, this one held me spellbound 💕
Goodness me Chris Nicholl, I appreciate your kind words and thank you so much for taking the time to comment 👻🙋♀️
Thank you! I've read other, rather sensationalized accounts, particularly of the human "monster" of Glamis. You present a view of the matter that is both humane, compelling and credible. Refreshing to come across!
Wow, thank you! That’s so kind! 👻🙋♀️
I was fascinated to learn about my ancestors the Ogilvie clan and what happened to them. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it Sonia, thank you 👻
Oh, I have been waiting for another one of your videos!! Thank you so much for all the work you do to bring these to us.
You are so welcome Mary! I hope you enjoyed the tales from Glamis! Would you sleep there? I'm not sure I would! 👻🙂
@@ghostcasebook1266 no thank you, lol
As a child I remember reading about the monster of glamis a child that had been born horribly disfigured and locked away in one of the rooms that was said to haunt the castle too
Lovely video! I always wanted to go to GLAMIS. I know there must be lots going on there👻
Resident of 🏴 but not a native. Great subject to pick GC
Beautifully told and flawless, as always. After a hard day’s work this was my treat, along with a hot bath and a brew ….no cake though 😂
Keep up the amazing work ❤
Thanks as ever Walkingdad 69. No cake? 😲 What's going on? Glad you had a brew though 🙂 So glad you ejoyed the video 👻🙏🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 perfect duration, well balanced episode more than made up for lack of cake 🤣🤣
have been to Clamis Castle mean years ago, lovely old places and spooky...
Thank you Ejb, it’s so old and atmospheric!
Brilliant video as always 👌 👍. I've noticed that the comments are increasing as are the subscribers....your channel is getting better by the day and quite rightly so 😉. Your research and presentation is outstanding 👏. Well done again and thank you for these great, entertaining and informative videos. ❤ from your friends here in Ireland 🇮🇪. Apologies for being late to the party on this video.....helping our daughter with a school project...oh dear......😄
You are welcome Eoin and thank you so much for your kind words and continued support. It means so much. The channel has really grown a lot since Christmas and I am so pleased. Lots more to come. All the best to you and your family in Ireland 🙂🙏👻
I have a book, from the 1980s, of these ghosts stories from Glamis Castle! Thanks for the video, very well done!💕🌚👻
Glad you enjoyed it Marie!
Yay! I love this channel! ❤️
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you as ever Kimberly 🙋♀️👻
Thanks So Much For a Brilliant Video From Blue
King James a real gem of a human being. His hatred and paranoia caused way too much damage. The man should never have been king the power only corrupted him more. With the power of the crown he could pretty well do whatever he wanted and that's just plain not right
As in the King James Version of the Bible. A freeman and part of the Illuminati. He changed the Bible to keep people under control
Hello R Turney, King James V of Scotland is not the same King James as in the King James Version of the Bible. King James V was the father of Mary Queen of Scots. She went on to have James Charles Stuart, 1566 - 1625, who became King James the VI and I, grandson of King James V of Scotland.
@@ghostcasebook1266 thanks 🙏, can you do a video on Somerset Melonoff, please?
Probably why the King doesn't have much power today.
How interesting to find out more about distant relations and Glamis Castle. One day I hope to travel to Scotland and see it.
I’m so pleased you found out more about your distant relations at Glamis and I hope you can travel there to experience it first hand 🙋♀️🙏
When one considers that her direct descendant Elizabeth Bowes - Lyon became a Queen - Consort of Great Britain and the last Empress of India
Lady Janet's suffering was unimaginable , but it was not in vain . You can Rest Easy Gray Lady of Glamis .
I think of that, often.
I’m a descendant of Janet Douglas lady glamis thank you for sharing this
Wow that place is hoping!! Thank you for the history and background. I was fortunate to be able to visit Scotland for 10 days in 1996. I arrived right in time for the New Year Celebration. Had I known more about this Castle I definitely would have visited it at the time of the visit.❤️😃👍👍❤️
Glad you enjoyed it MGM 👻🙋♀️
Just added Glamis Castle to my bucket list. Great video!
Hope you enjoy it Clan Douglas! I’m sure you will 👻🙋♀️
Love the narrators voice, and I love history. Have just subbed.
Thank you so much Mumma Bear and welcome!
Great video ❤
Glad you liked it!!
I agree completely Diane. It’s a gruesome history. 🙏
Great video, very interesting and informative. Thank you.
Thank you so much Michael, I appreciate your kind feedback 🙋♀️👻
@Ghost Casebook You are very much welcome! I have read 📚 about Glamis castle before. It does have a very interesting, and tragic history. It seems to have started in 1486, when the lord of the castle at the time, trapped those clansmen in that room and let them starve to death. Or did the haunted history actually start before then?
Hi! TH-cam algorithm did something right and introduced me to you!! I’ve binged watched all your videos (some multiple times 🤪) and love them. Excellent job!! Subbed and bell has been rung. Thank you!!
Welcome! I am so glad your have found my channel and subscribed. Thank you so much and so pleased you are enjoying the binge watching! 👻🙋♀️

If someone flys me goodness, I would love to stay there. I love hunted things! Beautiful presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it Rosie, you’re so kind 👻🙏
@@ghostcasebook1266 My AUNTE has been in a Genealogy Society, well, forever. She has our family traced to Kilkenny. If there is any haunted Castles there? I know Kilkenny was instrumental during the mid evil and golden age wars. I am a British Royalty hobbyist. Especially leading up to the War of the Roses going in to the Stewart House. So glad I found your channel! 🏰🏰🏰🏰
So many countries with that devil card player story, maybe the best I've heard is out of wexford in Ireland.
Yes there are, I agree 👻
Your voice and music ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Christne. Such a lovely comment, you have no idea 👻💟
It's a beautiful place.
You're such a good narrator Subbed.
Thanks and welcome 🙋♀️🙏
This the second time today I’ve read/heard about Janet Douglas… so weird. I read about her on FB because she was accused of witchcraft, about an hour ago, I didn’t twig at the time she lived in this castle. And now this..👀👀👀
How strange! 🤔
thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊 Thank you Nancy M 👻🙋♀️
I was hoping you would talk about Somerset Melonoff
Cold, rainy night in Ohio.
Nice‼️
I enjoyed this, and the narrator has a lovely voice.
Thank you so much Carol. I appreciate your kind words about my narration, Nicola GC👻🙋♀️🙏
I would love to explore this castle
Warm greetings from America...
Greetings to you in the USA bakenumber4 👻🙋♀️
when I was at Edinburgh castle (think 1993) I was alone in one room ahead of the tour group and took a picture with an older analog 35mm camera , no flash attachment and got an electric shock and that picture was black on the roll of film.. can't remember what room it was but had an orange flight suit in it ..
Glamis is the perfect example of a scary castle. Even bright sunshine can't help it.
I know what you mean! Some of the castles in Wales are quite brutal in appearance too and I’m working on a video of another castle which also has a rather scary appearance! 👻🙋♀️
I doubt the swords people claim to hear are sabers - more likely rapiers.
What about the ‘elemental ghost?’ The rotting figure that randomly appeared to people with a horrible smell, that was thought to be a combination of many ancient souls together in one apparition? Or was that the ‘dead man’ ghost mentioned here?
You might be thinking of Leap Castle in Ireland, an elemental just as you described haunts that castle.
Tongue.
Thank you
Sandi Davis
I hope you’ll enjoy looking at some other videos in time too 👻🙏🙋♀️
Thank you. I adore Scotland- especially the wonderful Cawdor Castle. Do you have any posts about Cawdor?
Hello dharmacharini and thank you for your comment. At this point this is my first location in Scotland but I am hoping there will be more soon 🙂
@@ghostcasebook1266 wow, that'd be great. :)

how cold blooded you have to be to just lock all those people in a room and leave them there forever.
