    Course looks great, I’d love to ride that track. Congrats on the finish.
    Couple pointers if you care, stand up, aim high on off camber/ flat roots, in a turn aim low and try to hit where the root meets another tree and makes a right angle. Are you running stock width bars? If so shorten them a bit so you have clearance. I run 29” bars 3” shorter than stock and can blitz trees, but you give up a little leverage. Pregame your energy so you don’t gas out. Bread and protein the night before, gatorade, bananas and motrin morning of. On starts, do mock starts as the 3 rows ahead of you take off, after the last row before you goes, start your bike, put it in 2nd and keep the clutch pulled in that way you can start in gear and get a good launch.
    If you want to practice rocks, roots and single track meet me at Brushy Mountain Motorsports in Taylorsville NC sometime.

    You were absolutely right ! Beautiful course ! I noticed a couple things in your videos lately, #1 you don't give yourself enough credit ! Sure you could be faster, but aren't you having fun !? #2 It does look like your picking it up ( speed wise) you are smoother every video .I believe that fun+smoothness= speed. You LL get there, your on the perfect bike for it ! I also gotta say you and your co-racers are the most curtious bunch of racers I be ever seen! Very Cool !!

No disrespect at all, I'm sure you'd whip me good riding, of course you would you ride really well, but it's nice to see a race and hear the commentary from a regular Joe and not somebody who creams his field and half of the fields in front of him too. Just went for my first race. It was a muddy deep mess. Never ridden a dirt bike before, and trying to go up a steep muddy hill was a mistake. I gave it gas ans stood up but only got up half way before I fell over. This next race is about the same as this video, flat with trees. Good video, you should list more.

    Great video Jon. If you haven't already done it yet, You need to trim about 1 inch off each end of your handlebars. It will be a big improvement for going through those tight trees... Good Luck.

  • @Booster356
    @Booster356 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Don’t try to go faster yet. Work on your technique and it will help with everything. Proper body positioning will make you faster and cover up poor conditioning. Your pace looks similar to what mine was last year.

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GladiusJon Yea he's definitely right. I was out of racing for years. Tried hoping back in to an AWRCS race which is long tight technical loops. Nothing less than 13 miles. 3 hours + a lap. Tried riding race pace right out of the gate. Bad mistake.

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually swapped back to the yellow before the race. Noticed a huge difference in tractor factor. But I kinda miss the Demon Spring tbh. I was starting to get used to blowing the tires off in the turns. And yea, I didnt think about it but. That would have been cold AF! hahaha

    Working on trees. I used to mountain bike race, and I cut an inch off both ends of my bars for 2" total. While I didn't have the leverage my competitors had, I sliced through the trees like it was a boulevard compared to them. I think it would feel weird now that I'm used to the width of a dirt bike handle bar, but it you ride or race through tight trees a lot, it might be worth cutting a little off from the ends of your bars. The counter to this would be rocks and roots, as you might not have the leverage needed to stop the deflection.

  • @Zeus33rd

    You might have a look at the Pro-Shot chin mount for your gopro. It keeps the gopro from haging off the side of your helmet, and places it right in front of your mouth. Less chance of banging it on trees and it works better for vlogs/talking while riding.

  • @Moibhin
    @Moibhin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you just gotta get on that 300 and really ring it out and use that power on the straights and break late it will help shave off a few seconds. the tight stuff will always be a challenge just getting used to the way the bike responds to the roots and rocks. remember you want the bike to do the work not you. was a sweet race man keep it up bro you will be hitting top 3 soon.

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!! You are right on the power thing, i think my problem is endurance. After a while i get too tired to let her rip. Top 3 would be awesome! Maby one day!

    • @Moibhin
      @Moibhin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no worries man. you just gotta relax and go with the flow of the bike and not fight it too much and just power thru be as smooth as possible and it will wear you out less. Good luck man love your vids.
