If this is “The” Andy Lewins, I just want to thank you alongside Richard Beaton and Dean Liddle for making in my opinion one of the most iconic main menu themes in video game history, Not to mention an amazing soundtrack. The game wouldn’t have been as good if it wasn’t for what you guys did. This was actually the very first video game I actually played, so when I heard this song “Joyrider” for the first time, I knew I was going to be quite an experience. Many thanks. 👍
As I mentioned earlier, in the studio, I was just messing with sounds in my zoom fix unit and was just hitting open strings, no thought went into sanitarium by Metallica. Due to the way the tone on the guitar rang out, I kept the open string concept for the recording. Glad you guys liked the music, it was always fun to play live.
@@MusicOfDestruction it is incredible. Right up there with the Doom soundtrack if not better. Just so good, I don't think there are many soundtracks that could compete with this one though.
I picture an evil Coliseum with all the drivers anxiously ready to go at full speed into the destruction derby from Hell. Fire, skulls, and spikes are everywhere.
These old ones in their classic approach and heavy soundtracks impress me much more than the most recent DD titles, and I still like listening to these tunes of my childhood :D
This tune takes me back to being 13 years old in 1996 playing this game on a 15 inch box TV in my bedroom when i should've been doing homework. I used to listen to this entire song on the menu screen to hype me up to play more aggressively! Seems like a lifetime ago. Great tune for a gem of a game. I played the Hell out of this back in the day.
holy shit the memories, when i was a child, playing the coliseu, about too go head on and there was never a game that i enjoyed more. one of the greatest fucking ps1 games too exist with the most badass sound track
This song completely describe how awesome this game was back in the days and how awesome it still is. Now listening to it again, I must say it does have that Hans Zimmer Black Hawk Down tone.
i remember this song as soon i played this.. menu song.. but bc im am a death metal fan... this is a real death metal intro.. especially from bands from early '90s
15 years later comment. If you still own both a CD-player and have the DD-game disk... just put it in the cd-player and skip the first 1.... there you have it The Soundtrack.
I loved this game. Didn´t worked in color (don´t know why) but I played it all day long :D For me it was and still is one of the best PS1 games!! Thanks for Uploading the soundtrack, I loved hearing this song, sometimes I just stayed in the menu to hear it
Hi mate! Glad to hear that there still are some DD2 fans out there in this world :) I just read your comment regarding the "no-colour-issue". Well I had the same problem at first, but it turned out that you had to switch to a different tv-channel to have it in colour... crasy. But anyway, best regards man. #01
strangely this game destruction derby 2 reminds me of cool boarders 1 in music (yet totally different) but the spirit of the game and in the same spirit a nervous fun trash game both DD2 or CB1 were badass games in the 90's clearly more fun than some games today the only time I found this spirit was on SKATE 1 on PS3 or XBOX 360 SKATE had its 90's game thing undeniably
I feel like this song is what plays as you cross the River Styx. Or in a dark room as you wait to be called to enter the Colosseum. Or as you sit in a massive car crusher with 19 other cars in hell.
I think I even remember the cheat that meant you wouldn't take damage. Your player name had to be, I think.... !DAMAGE! or something along those lines. Those were the days!
well it resembles an open E played followed by 2 natural harmonics on the E and B string exactly what is played on sanitarium. as for the black sabbath song, i'm not not sure which one of theirs it resembles.
Well I mean, they were. They seemed to have formed just for this game, but then split and went different ways. I'm trying to figure out who they are and what they play in nowadays.
It was awesome recording this track. I was sitting in the studio messing with my zoom fx modulator and this sound came out. Loved the game too.

@@stressball1324 Also, just an FYI, the band was: Richard Beston, Dean Liddle, Andy Lewins (they spelt my surname wrong on the game) and Boz.
Biblical mate.
This is the song i always go back to when referencing this game. PS games of yore cannot be topped today.
Thank you guys for helping making this game so great

This song.. such emotions tied to it. Instantly get teleported back to my childhood.
Those were the days, such great games and all was well.
CLEARLY
in 2024 and nostalgic for his teenage Moments and good period without this shit... I'm 38 years now... french.
Nostalgia overload! Wish I could go back to those times. Good piece of music tbf.
The music that associates with wrecked cars and death. It’s the perfect soundtrack for it.

The cover art is top tier as well. Great days.

One of my first games ever. I loved that song, but as a child it also freaked me out...Scary tune. O.o
this just has that dark sinister feeling to it...love it.
This track is friggin’ amazing - really fits the game it was used for perfectly.. All about carnage and chaos 😁❤️

This track could be used in a horror movie!
Scary and badass at the same time. Love this menu theme, such a shame Jug and Tuscan made music just for this game.

this is one of the greatest tunes on DD2 I think, but hey, that's only my opinion;)
I think I even remember the cheat that meant you wouldn't take damage. Your player name had to be, I think.... !DAMAGE! or something along those lines. Those were the days!
The intro should have been cars parked in an arena or track,at early morning, preparing to derby, with this in the background....
well it resembles an open E played followed by 2 natural harmonics on the E and B string exactly what is played on sanitarium. as for the black sabbath song, i'm not not sure which one of theirs it resembles.
it's also similar to Black Sabbath - E5150
This song should of been the intro for mad max
This sound like the start of a Metallic tune,
I think is called "Sanataria"
Do you know what tune came first?
Bless!

I always wondered if the song Hotel Lobby by Quavo Takeoff used this sound for their song 🤔
Imagine playing on the guitar in brutal heat at night (120 degrees celcius).
Welcome to Hell...
dude, search gam soundtrack hotel click first one then click mp3 all scroll down to destruction derby 2
Is Jug even an actual band...
yes.
Well I mean, they were. They seemed to have formed just for this game, but then split and went different ways. I'm trying to figure out who they are and what they play in nowadays.
