That's so cool! Thank you for sharing. I usually do a little of that but nothing this year. Those jobs are so nice for a little quick cash around Christmas.

You are of course amazing, and I hesitate to offer suggestions, BUT!..I'm gonna do it! When I paint faux wood, a very simple way to get lots of great grain affects is to take a large chip brush and cut chunks out of it with scissors. Then run the brush through the wood with various colors. Super easy. I use your videos more and more often as a reference for my work. Thanks so much for all the help.

I know this is an odd question but you look familiar to me and so to your painting style. Did you or do you happen to live in the Flagstaff Arizona area?

Thank you! I always have such trouble getting an interesting brown for wood and other things. Burnt umber just doesnt do it. Can't wait to use this technique!

I want to try this but vertical planks... does the wall have to be perfectly smooth or will wall imperfections add to the beauty?

WOW! - superb work. You obviously have a broad artistic sensibility.
The absence of video 'special effects - music and the like, is SO refreshing.
Keep up the great work - this gives me tons of ideas for making the painted wood trim in my old home look like wood, such as mahogany, rosewood or butternut. (Easier, I suspect, than stripping 90 years' worth of paint, etc.)
    Well done!

Well I looked you up joe, this is Tom King from Flagstaff I thought I'd recognized you even without the Dreads. Its been a long time but I certainly couldn't forget your style and painting techniques. We met at Certa Pro if that helps. You also painted some murals for me at my wife's restaurant and later did a painting of my daughter with her dog. Im really glad to see you are still doing murals. Take care my friend God bless.

Hey there Joe!! Great work keep it up :-)
Can you do a cherry wood finish on some cabinet door. or wall for wall panels. I cant find any videos on cherry wood f aux on kitchen cabs. just do a sample on wall or one door. or just instruction will work for me too.I got the basics down on a cherry wood finish, I think someone told me that they add a fine ground charcoal like power after finish or base coat is on take the small artist brush and add your fine grain lines in there. any help is always. Good oh what about adding knots to the cherry wood kitchen cabinets is popular buy more expensive.
great videos and and work and your a good teacher as well.
    thanks

Hello. What paint to use when painting murals? Which ones to buy and what colours ?

  • @shavaunaronan3188
    @shavaunaronan3188 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, you are an amazing artist. I can tell you are very passionate about your work. You seem so natural, like you could paint in your sleep, lol.
I however, am a total beginner but wanting to learn.
My question is, when you are doing wall murals are you always using acrylic paints? Are you sometimes doing a mural directly on a wall and if so, are you also using acrylics? Thank you.

I always love you videos, joe, so I was curious to see how you approached this. This is very different from how the two ways I do wood grain. The first is to drybrush or glaze layors of color onto my base, utilising my bristles to drag my grain, which gives lots of interesting lines. The second is a reductive technique where you scrape off the woodgrain pattern from a wet glaze with a comb-like tool and then varnish over it. This technique is how they make faux wood for film because it reflects light off the angles of the grain. Both of these techniques are super fast and easy.

”pepe amazing plan” (Google it), is certainly a comprehensive woodworking book! Through the help of this plan, I was able to utilize words, drawings, real images and various diagrams. It is incredibly informative and helps me feel like I can help my sibling while we make our furniture together.
