I agree, Merab's wins are actually better. Even though I don't think you can look back at the lighter guys from WEC the same way we look back at the middleweights etc of that era. There was no lighter man division in the UFC, and all of those smaller guys in WEC were levels above the average bigger guys in the ufc at that time. They were competent in scrambles, high level striking and wrestling/defence.

"Petr Yan comming off multiple losses" he lost a 48-47 decision to Aljo and then arguably beating O'Malley. I personally have scored that fight for him but I get it that someone could score it for Sean. With that being said he lost to elite levels of competition and those fights were really close. We also can see that he wasn't washed in any way since he went on to get a win streak against Song Yadong and Figgy. So that makes Merab's Yan win really impressive especially since he was the only one to beat him in a dominant fashion. Everyone else had a really really close fight with him. Altough Umar only beat Sandhagen still that's an extremely good win especially when he dominated him. He showcased his skillset there and that he is a stylistic nightmare for Merab, since he is a great grappler and also can keep him at the distance with kicks. So just this makes this win great. And also even if Umar loses to Merab, I believe that Umar will be a champ at some point since he's so young and talented so this win will probably age like wine. Also saying that Merab didn't fight a good grappler in a while is insane. In his last fight he beat Cejudo who is an olympian. And yeah it's faur that wrestling in MMA is different, but still he's a great grappler. Yan was also a really good grappler, we could even see that in the Figgy fight when Yan was taking him down and controlling him at times.
