I was feeding the Magpies in my street just after I moved in. Three of the local ladies(busy bodies) told me not to and said "You're stopping them from hunting for their own food!" Whinge, whinge etc. I wasn't giving them enough food to stop them needing to hunt but I WAS bonding with them. The other neighbours in the street told me about three weeks later that the Magpies had stopped swooping them and their children while they were walking to school. I used to call them, mimicking their morning song, and they would come, four different directions, from four different families to my front porch. If they fought with each other or squabbled they wouldn't receive any food. Within about two months not one local person was being swooped within a three block area and the Magpie families were now working together to help teach the young of each group to look for food. They all had distinctive differences in plumage, well, to me. My neighbours who originally chastised me returned. I was surprised at their apology. One of them even admitted to "adopting one of the young Magpies" and that she had been so lonely since her husband died but now she had a 'little helper' in her garden who would help tirn the garden beds then sit on her lap and nestle in for a nap while she enjoyed her afternoon cup of tea. I was overjoyed. She was rather teary telling me this as she had been the most vociferous in her telling me off at the beginning. I was just so pleased that the Magpies and my neighbours were finally getting along. One of the ladies asked me hopefully "Now, can you do something about the possums?" I. broke up laughing.
I rescued a young raven years ago that had been attacked by cats. Within 2 days he was crying if we left him alone. He wanted to wander and be around with my friends and family. As someone who's had a pet crow, yeah, for a 'not human animal' they're incredibly smart.
I heard it's a 7yo they are comparable with. Amazing either way. ☺️
Bro! That crow is probably smarter then you! 5 year old intelligence....haha.
@@JKThom-59 WRONG word do NOT ever say compatible when talking about children and animals again PLEASE
@@AssortedMold268 comparable then? I see your point.

Black birds have intelligence of a 7 year old js :D
Smarter than your average American college student.
I had a pet raven for a couple weeks , when I was about 11 years old. He just showed up at the back door saying, "hello, my name is Charlie". He had a vocabulary of prolly 500 words. I loved that bird. But, we found out he was an escapee from a retired animal actor game farm and we had to give him back. It was a sad day. Charlie was the best 😊❤
How did you find out? Did he talk in his sleep?
@@fredcox6994 lol, no. My mom did some research and found out that way. By research (in the 70's) I mean she probably made a call to the authorities and they took it from there. All I remember is that he was an actor bird and had to go back home. I was heartbroken.
He escaped for a reason , you should have kept him . He came to you for loving protection He didn't escape because he loved where he was at they must have mistreated him . Too bad you gave him back .
Lucky ass, in America it illegal to own a crow. I've been wanting a pet crow since I was a teen.
fr😢
The bird is like "It's obvious what I need to do, you're just making it inconvenient!"
(enrichment is good though)
It's developing the birds intelligence to have to get that long stick through the tiny gap under the roof even tho it looks like he just threw it to be a dick lmao
Good bird 👍
I swear crows are disguised humans! 😅🐦⬛
