The government infantilizes its citizens(that means they treat us like children). I wonder if these state officials own heavy duty 4x4 trucks, hunt, like to explore and get out into nature. Part of the Wharton experience is being able to cope with whatever it can throw at you. Getting stuck in the mud is part of the learning experience, getting out of range of a cell tower is just the way it is. I first started going back there in the 1960’s. I’m up in years now and rarely get back there but if I went back today I’m confident I know the area well and what I’m doing. Treating it like an extended city park is not a good use of that land. Leave it as wild as possible, let people get to the areas they’ve always had access to and prosecute the people who hurt the land.

Perform road maintenance, enforce already existing laws, and scrap the map!

Why can’t you have off-road for off-road vehicles? … there’s way more sanctuary to go to walk your dog have a picnic. ..

That map needs to be color coded, trails for 4x4s, trails for dad taking the kids out to see nature in the family car.

I was just thinking about this issue. I live in New Jersey and have never been to the pineland's because it's not accessible or well lit for cars and scary. what good is reserving all this land if the public can't drive through it and get to every area reasonably? also what happens if someone gets a flat? is their cell phone service and/or a few gas stations in the park people can access? or emergency phones on the roads? we reserve 22% of our state land for this park and few residents who don't live next to it even visit. its not car accessible or well lit or has emergency areas in case there is a flat etc. there should also be rest stops and restaurants in the park. whose going to visit a remote region when there's no access to food.yes I know bring your own but sometimes people want to quickly access food

The whole point of this park is to enjoy relatively untouched nature…..no to everything you just said. If you’re an outdoorsman, you’ve definitely visited the pine barrens. It’s not a place for city slickers.

@@drebendy nobody is enjoying it. how the heck can people get around without a car? how far inland can they really go without one. no to everything you just said. this isnt a place soley for entitled locals. it belongs to the whole state. lets make the entitled locals aware of that.

@@infoguy1978 you don’t have to be a local to own a 4x4….maybe the problem is your an outdoorsman that bought the wrong vehicle for your lifestyle?? If you want to go see nature that is paved over to access it, we have some plenty of other parks easily assessable to you in NJ. The pines is an overlanders last sanctuary.

@@infoguy1978 and talk about entitlement….these routes are used by the locals to turn an 1 hour commute into less by not having to circumnavigate the pines. These people set down routes, established their families and a way of life there. Who are you, a tourist, to dictate how these people manage their community? The pines are so popular because of what it is!!! If you want to walk a forest with car access go to the Reservation, Norvin Green, high point, the Appalachian, or the Highlands Trails.

@@infoguy1978 and I’m not a local but an avid 4 wheeler from North Jersey who has to go all the way to the pines to respectfully enjoy my extracurriculars because it’s the last place to do it!!!!! It’s not our problem you don’t participate in the hobby and expect us to sacrifice on our end so we can all have a sub standard experience in the park. Should every black diamond ski slope be leveled out and softened because ill-equipped skiers can’t use them??
