Yosuke actually had more experience than that. He’d been playing the guitar a little even before they started practicing. He had had probably the most previous experience with instruments (besides Rise) out of the whole group. You see the instrument in his room during the sequels and I think Q even mentions him keeping it up (though don’t quote me on that last one). But yah, that solo might still be a bit much.

People say English is better I think not because the Japanese voices fit way better than the English because its idol music. Most idol music is in Japanese, Korean or Chinese. Idol music sounds like idol music because of that spice of Japanese language, Chinese or Korean.
The Laura Bailey English version still sounds good. It doesn't sound quite like idol music but more like idol inspired American pop. I think both are great in their own right. But you are right in that, when I'm being a musical purist, I would judge the original as being leagues better than the covers and translations. Cheers!
Personally, the persona 4 anime is one of the only animes I would watch in dub because I watched it after playing the game in English and it just felt correct to do the same for the show.
