Well, when orange fell into the pit, his body was probably close to the wall edge where reds spot was right in the middle. Would have seen the crater first, and he probably panicked.

Can we all just talk about how strong reds knife is, he literally jumped off the airship and hit the top hat clan satellite rocket and it didn't break. Not even the blade breaking the handle and jugging by the way he jumped off and the amount of time in free fall to hit the rocket is mighty impressive and I want to know where he got his knife because now I want a knife that can handle all of that.
