    Here's my review of the 10th Gen Civic: • Should You Buy One? 20...
    In this video, I review the 8th generation Civic Si and tell you all about the pros and cons of owning one.
    This car is a whole lot of fun considering how little they cost these days. Plus they do (for the most part) hold true to "Honda reliability"
    I would recommend looking to purchase one if you want a fun yet practical and reliable car.
    Check out my review of an 8th generation Honda Accord here:

    I had a C6 Corvette, 05 Subaru Sti and got the itch back to get a sport car. I got an 08 Si Sedan....and damn what a life change
    1. Comfortable
    2. Easy to drive. Shifts are smooth,
    3. Low maintenance
    MPG varies but if you shift under 3200,
    City =25

      @@Txcowboy80 overall they got the major dents they missed a couple of small dings that aren't really noticeable. they got rid of the rust around the wheel wells. They sand off the original paint and clearcoat from the car and start from scratch so those faded patches aren't a issue again.

    Nice review . I had an 06 si for about two years . And let me tell you the engine in these things are little gems. Probably one of the best naturally aspirated 4 cylinder ever made. In stock form top speed was 127mph. Add in invidia q300 cat back exhaust, hybrid racing cai, p2r tbs, lightweight wheels, hybrid racing short shifter, stiffer sway bars and top it off with a good tune. And your looking at a super fun dd/ commuter. That tops out at over 140mph which is kinda insane.

    The clear coat can be fixed if you just want it to look better, but if you want it perfect it would probably cost close to the same to get the section repainted. The key is to keep a lot of protection on the paint on those cars that tend to have clear coat issues.

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems like a pretty good deal. They hold their value quite well, so a lot of times it depends on supply/demand. If there aren't many for sale, the seller can bump up the price a bit. 114k miles isn't much on that car though so hopefully it runs well for years to come :)

Honestly I am not sure how much it would go for, but it seems as though a clean 8th Si with over 100,000 miles goes for at least $8,000-$9,000 depending on location. If you have such low mileage, might be worth asking $13,000-$15,000 - maybe more??? I haven't seen one with such low mileage for years so I'm really not sure, but that's pretty incredible though!

    Still have my white 2009 Civic SI sedan, and car as been such a trooper over the years (90K). No mechanical problems. All I upgraded was the stereo, did some sound deadening work, and replaced all the headlights and interior lights with LED's. Car also does great in bad weather, rain and ice or compacted snow. Car struggles even with really good all seasons in heavy or fresh soft snow, so bought a set of winter tires. If you're considering this car, also consider swapping out the seats. The cloth seats are comfortable but require frequent cleaning and care vs leather. And YES...road noise is so bad. Sound deadening is a MUST with this car.

    Nah. the biggest 8th gen problem was the hairline engine fracture you can't see that leaks radiator fluid. Good news is the K20C1 fits in the engine bay no problem if you can afford the swap.

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems like a decent price and relatively low mileage. 2006-2008 non-Si Civic’s were prone to a big issue with the engine block, it would sometimes crack meaning the car would need a new engine.
      I would be cautious of that, and also inspect the paint as well. Those years had the clear coat issues too.
      If those things check out, and the car drives well then it’s a good deal for sure

      Seems like a pretty good deal. The low mileage is great. Only two big things to watch out for on those years/models was clear coat fade and then some of those first gen R18 engines had issues with a weak block. I don't know if there was a recall on them or not but I do know a number of people had their engine blocks crack and had to get them replaced. Wasn't all that common but it did happen. Apart from that, they're solid cars and will last a long time

    • @KingdomAuto

      With all due respect, 225hp to the wheels is VERY common for these cars to make. Take a look around on any 8th Civic forum or Facebook group and you'll find that an 8th Si with a good intake/header/exhaust combo + a tune would easily achieve 220-230 at the wheels. This specific car was actually dyno tested as well (which is how I obtained the numbers).. So I mean it doesn't get much more clear than that.

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@teacherpaco Hey Paco - That seems like a pretty good deal price wise, and mileage is also quite low for that year!
      In regards to what to look out for:
      Specifically with these cars, you want to look out for the following:
      - Clear coat fade (very obvious if it's there, especially on the hood, roof and top of trunk)
      - Third gear grind, shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at a high rpm and ensure that the car shifts smoothly, you'll feel and hear the transmission grind if there's something wrong with the synchro's
      - How much oil does it burn? DOCH VTEC Honda's are famous for burning oil so it's normal almost all of them to burn a bit, but as long as it's not smoking out the exhaust and the owner doesn't have to add 4-5 quarts between changes, you should be fine. 1-2 quarts between changes is relatively normal for these cars, although less is ideal!
      In regards to what to look for in general:
      - Any accidents?
      - Any rust?
      - What has been done in terms of maintenance? Does anything currently need to be done?
      - What mods have been done and have they been done professionally?
      - When you're driving it, does it make any unusual noises?
      Those things should help you get off to a good start - all the best with your purchase!

The K20 engines (Si trim level) were built stronger and have been known to be a very reliable engine (apart from burning oil).

    Great video. I've owned a Taffeta White 2007 FG2 since 2015, about to hit 100k miles. Awesome vehicles. For anyone interested in an 8th gen, the Taffeta White models don't seem to suffer from the crows footing or peeling clear coat defects. On the downside my TW paint is prone to rock chips and gets spiderweb cracks on the rear bumper from relatively minor impacts. Kingdom Auto Consulting is correct, if the previous owner didn't get the factory paint defects fixed within the recall period (5+ years ago, before I bought my FG2 in 2015) then you're unable to get it done now. The paint recall deadline was many years ago. I've also seen online that Honda was only respraying panels with visible damage, so it's possible that body panels that weren't peeling at the time of the initial paint recall are now peeling (Honda wasn't respraying entire cars). The peeling clear coat is believed to be caused or exacerbated by UV exposure, so it's best to keep these 8th gens in a garage whenever possible.

    2010 Civic Si 145,000km $9500 decent deal or overpriced?

    • @KingdomAuto

      Seems quite high but used cars are going for a little more these days due to the shortage of new cars on the market. This would all pretty much hold true for the Canada only CSX too, right? Looking at a 2011 at 86K miles, 7900CAD (~9K total post tax). Worth it?

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The CSX is basically the same car with the exception of the base CSX models vs. the base Civic models. The CSX Type S was essentially the same car as the Civic Si aside from the fact that it came with leather interior and usually a navigation unit.
      The base CSX model actually comes with a DOHC Vtec 2.0L K20 engine, just like the base RSX models. It's not tuned the same way as the Si/CST type S engines and uses some different internal parts, so it puts out around 160hp and 135 ish Tq but it's definitely an improvement over the base Civic engine which was the 1.8 and only SOCH.
      Other than that, they were the same cars :)
      Regarding the deal, yeah that actually sounds like a pretty good price. Low km's and quite a fair price considering the Acura's are almost always priced higher than the Civic's :)
      Hope that helps!

      There's a ton of stuff now for the 8th gen. Lots of lip kits/side skirt trim pieces, especially because of the Type R and Mugen RR Sedan's that were made in Japan. A lot of those bits are now readily available for these cars which is great.
      Definitely can't argue with the fact that the engine bays are small, but where the RSX-S fell short was the fact that they didn't come stock with an LSD transmission. I really like the exterior's of the RSX though, nice shape and aggressive looking as well :)

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seems like a pretty good deal, although mileage is getting a tad high though so you might want to ask about the health of the engine/transmission. Also, see if the timing chain/tensioner have ever been changed on it. If the oil isn't maintained in a K series engine, the chains would stretch faster and this would result in a failed tensioner as well.
      Also would be good to know if the car burns oil too, and how much between changes.
      If all checks out though then I think that's a relatively good deal!

      Don’t get it. Just wait for the right one!! If your gonna have one get one with as close to 140k or less!! Honda’s are reliable but you will probably have a very hard time reselling it with 170k or more miles so good luck cause most people wouldn’t even touch it. I see some car with that much or more miles I instantly don’t wanna have anything to do with it.

    • @mattf2535
      @mattf2535 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd stay away, even w/ Honda reliability, that's some heavy mileage and you'll be fixing a lot more wear n tear. Plus, you don't know if internals were babied by old owner(s) unless you abs know the guy, and an old Si kinda defeats its original novelty.

      Seems like a pretty decent deal :) I'd make sure that the paint is in good shape as the 06-08 years were more known for clear coat failure than 09-11. Also would ensure that the seat belt is professionally fixed.
      And apart from the obvious things - certified, no accidents, drives smoothly, regular oil changes and maintenance, you should be good to go!
      Also the R18 engines are absolute tanks. They go forever and typically have very little issues, so 148,000 miles is still quite low on the engine.

      @@yukonstriker1703 I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with something in the future with an engine similar to the K20. I’m sure it would be a limited production run, more for novelty but I wouldn’t put it past them just yet. Obviously one never knows but I’ll continue to hope :)

    Is this car better than Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2012 please answer

      I love Alfas and have owned two 156 before both their glorious v6 engine. I also am in my mind cross shopping between the UK spec Civic 1.8 and the Guilietta. Somehow I seem to lean more towards the Civic. The Guilietta is still based on the Fiat Bravo, not such a bad thing but still can't beat the Civic which feels more purpose built and still looks futuristic and sporty.

    that engine has got a lot of kinetic energy waiting to be uncorked. except for a k&n drop-in filter, mine is still stock and it's still has got a lot of kick to it. just be sure to treat it well w/ the right honda fluids (most especially the one that comes w/ the a/t transmission variant) and it's practically bullet proof.

    Just bought one 2 weeks ago and loving it so far. 2008 Si coupe, 178k km, $5k. Completely stock (only mod is a shift knob). I want to lower it a bit though, any recommendations for good and affordable coilovers or springs?

      Congrats on your purchase!!! Hope you have a great time driving the car.
      Regarding anything to do with lowering/suspension for these cars; check out Red Shift Motorsports. Chris (the owner) is fantastic. He's probably the most knowledgeable guy out there for 8th gen suspension and he has great deals on his site as well :) He hooked me up back when I owned my Si and gave me exactly what I was looking for.
      All the best!!

      I'm sporting ebach lowering springs. Price is affordable and the ride is stiffer but not harsh. If your on a budget this might be the way to go.

    2009 civic si or 2011 scion tc as my daily driver???

    • @KingdomAuto
      @KingdomAuto  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That’s really down to preference my friend - both are solid cars, reliable and very fun. The Scion has more low down torque if I recall correctly. It’ll feel faster around town and has more useable torque. The Si likes to live above 6000rpm after VTEC kicks in, and it’s a lot of fun to hear an engine rev past 8000rpm all the time :)
      Personally speaking I would take the Si, mainly just because of that K20 engine and the really smooth transmission that Honda made for those cars. But the TC is also a great option that’s a lot of fun and very reliable. It’s hard to decide between the two for sure!
