Like the cleaning, surface prep, finishes, painting, etc. What your doing takes much knowledge and skill. You know more than the OCC boys do. Very nice work, and the best to you.
put 43,000 miles on a 73 blue toaster tank. Traded in for a 77 100S. Both were best bikes I ever owned.(except for weak front brake on 73) 73 was the most comfortable tourer I ever owned!! Miss em both! BEAUTIFUL restoration!!!

Awesome job, down to the details. I loved the plates and stckers as if the bike was serviced at a proper BMW facility. I didn't know there were so many press fitted parts and specialty tools needed. Also, It would be nice if you could merge all chapters into one. I know it might be a bit longer but would make it much easier to share it. Another great restoration, cheers!!

That a rare tank! I rode BMW from 74 to 92 never saw that tank did see /2 with compartments but never a /5............ The metal spark plug caps will short out the spark in a good rain, you won't find them on bikes that were driven had. I put 114,000 miles on my R75/6 it was still going strong when I sold her I new people with well over 200,000 on /5 and /6's............ I had a 81 R 100 RS and a K 75 C with a /7 RS fairing a nice combination

Technically the 4th gear on the /5 and the 5th gear on the /6 is the same ratio. You'd need to add a 5spd trans AND change to a taller final drive to take advantage of it. But yes. I have a /5 and a r100gs so I'm use to the high revs. The engines will happily do it all day.
Excellent work!!!. Have a question: I own a 1975 R75/5 toaster. The indicator on the left side of the headlight is amber but I see some models have a green indicator. If you (or anyone) can shine a light on that, which color would be the appropriate one?? thanks a lot.

Friend Arthur. Yes, only those two screws with silentblock. In the front it has an open support against a rubber. Remove the two nuts and pull up hard and the reservoir will pop out. Enjoy doing it yourself.😉 Best wishes. Loscar 👍✌

I owned an R75/5 from 1972 , awesome bike but if I had one complaint it needed one more gear for top end.
