Here in Southern Oregon, I went down to the pasture and as I was walking along, it sounded totally weird, like the sound of a rushing river, looked down, and thought, "that's the weirdest dust I've ever seen" and then realized what I was seeing was literally thousands of 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch grasshoppers. The chickens are getting fat, but it's not doing much to control the grasshoppers. Normally we get a lot of them in mid to late July, you know, sometimes you see dozens. Right now, it's closer to thousands. Crazy swarm of locusts coming our way. It has been a much more wet winter (yay) but I think it's planet-utopia - Grasshopper Style@
Happy Father's Day Rick. I know you're not a daddy, but you're still a special guy and a Critter Daddy! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the Horsey Men out there!
Reminds me of my grandparent's farm in eastern Washington when I was growing up. As a little kid I would catch grasshoppers and put them in a mason jar with some leaves and a stick, and holes poked in the lid, then eventually let them go. We were easily entertained!
Holy moly! There are so many! Such a pity about your tree... Moki is probably gonna have a rough day trying to catch them all :') And poor Buddy- Boy getting yelled at. xD
Rick: We are supposed to get swarmed with cicadas this year too. Apparently there is a breed that comes out every 13 years and another that comes out every 19 years.. and they both come this year together; which hasn't happened since 1803. Pretty cool stuff
I remember an invasion in Colorado not long ago that was really bad. I saw them eating the siding off of houses AND eating huge holes in window screens. They can be really nasty!
Thank you, Rick 🥰 Does it happen every year 🦗🤔 Lester's dad said that they had swarms of hairy caterpillars everywhere, but they don't seem to like all of the trees 🐛 Hugs for you and your boys, and have a wonderful evening, Rick 🥰🥰
"I'll beat you like a rented stepchild!" - lol - & Subbed for that quip... Summer of '84, on a job-quote with my Father at some Farm in SASK, during the prairie's grasshopper swarm of the decade. We watched a lump of grasshoppers slowly move across the lawn to the front porch as if a ball was rolling under a carpet, and what emerged up the stairs was the client's cat. That screen door never opened & closed so fast in history - and that cat's tail made it through with 8 lives to spare. My Father and I laughed before he too got out and followed in the cat's path to the front door... Respect, eh! PS - Today is my Father's Birthday, and I also bid Happy (belated) Father's Day to you, too.
Here in Germany we have a snail invasion. They are eating all my vegetable plants and flowers. The climate hysterics keep on telling us it will be the hottest and driest summer ever but it is cold and raining nearly every day.
Chickens and guineas would be stuffed and the grasshoppers would keep coming . I've been on trails next to corn fields where there were no grasshoppers in the corn but the other side of the trail would be covered with grasshoppers . Whatever the corn was treated with kept the grasshoppers off .
Southern Nevada gets that once every so many years. This year is pretty mild, but it was insane a couple of years ago. Little birds have a field day, though. I watch them catch, shake (to eliminate wings, legs, etc.), and eat.
Holy Hoppers 🤠! Hope you had fun playing pickle ball! The heat is miserable 😓 We’re having mid 90’s till the end of the month! Get some rest and relax. Enjoy your evening Rick! 👍
Wow so much protein (only26.80% compare to crickets 58.32%) for Mokie boi 🐈⬛🐈⬛..maybe too many for kitties -so they're getting scaredy-catty . Great to see the bois again -missin them dearly 🐴🐴Hope their pasture feed isn't getting blazed way by the swarming
You need some free roaming chickens, buddy looked like he was really scared about havig his foot on the gate, ransom has slicked up and is a good looking horse.
They're tasty fried. Ate some with my oldest brother back in the late 70's : ) BTW, here's something to check out on the subject. Search YT for this video: Grasshopper stir-fry with salt recipe very delicious
I went up to Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio with my brother last weekend and the mayflies are awful up there! We rode first row on some of the rollercoasters and we had to pick bugs out of each others hair 😂 they stung like crazy when they smacked into your face going 75 mph on a coaster 😂
Yikes! That’s a lot of 🦗🦗🦗 😮 Good to see the boys 🤩 thanks Rick! That Buddy,he’s always making trouble 😜😄 Rick,i just watched jami’s video ‘Bathing ALL My Horses in one Video’ (on From Suits to boots) - could you spare her a minute or two to teach her how to do a quick-release knot to tie the horses up with please? ( 2:03 & 3:04 ) Also, maybe if you could help them out with a diet & nutrition plan for their horses & donkeys i’m sure they would appreciate your help? in the same video at 9:35,the paint VooDoo’s crest is twice the size it was a month ago 😧 & in Lester’s video (on the other place) (his page not the sanctuary one) titled ‘We have a problem with the 1st sod instalment’ (3 days ago) at 2:44 & a better view at 3:12 - 3:17,one of their donkey’s her crest has now collapsed 😧😥😥 People have told them of the crest (too rich grass etc.) issues as they started coming up,but they haven’t taken them off pasture into dry lot or anything 🙁 lester did say ‘VooDoo gets a special food’ but the horses all bump each other along from feed bowls,so not sure how he gets what he should be getting 🙁 Maybe lester’ll take the help from you,he’s ignored the pple in the comments. You & the boys have a great day! 🤗 Hugs for all the boys 🤗🤗🤗
I want you to know I miss the horse discussions. And your face! I get it. No incentive to work on it since the stinktube demonetized it. Take care hunn.🥰
Is my foot on the fence dad? Huh, you mean like this? 😂
Haaay Rick! Where's all the chickens? They'd snack all those hoppers right up. I'm hoping you're going live tonight💋💋💋
Hello, May your vegetation be free of locusts, caterpillars, ants and so on 😂
Buddy says creepy bugs everywhere! Bring apples!
Your having grass hopper problems and Lester having problems with catapillers . Thanks for video Rick
That's A LOT of grasshopper's! Buddy, in trouble, 😂🤣😂🤣

I'm in Central Oregon...no hoppers here.
It's so good to see the boys! Thanks Rick 👋🇨🇦👋
Rick, over the years I've watched you, I've adopted your way of talking to your horses. Imitation whinny and spanking threats!!!🤣
❤❤❤ I bet Moki is having a field day with the grasshoppers
Poor Buddy, all he was going to do was wave at dad....really.
For Father's day.
Happy Father's day horsey men! 🐎
Happy day Rick, enjoy👩🌾✌️🇨🇱

I had that in Oklahoma years ago when I was there. It was indescribable!!!
Like a red haired step child! Bahaha far out I lost it when I heard that Rick
There are Cicadas up here in IL, millions of them. Now I know where all the grasshoppers live.
Holy moly! There are so many! Such a pity about your tree...
Moki is probably gonna have a rough day trying to catch them all :')

Wow, thats a trip! Glyphosate maybe?
I wouldn't want to eat that corn. If it's no good for grasshoppers, it's no good for us either.
@@NavvyMom the cows we eat eat it though...
@@tropicaoptica Yes, and that's also problematic.
Good afternoon, big Rick

Heee haaa
Ooo so many of them
His foot on the gate …😂😂👏🏻👏🏻
Hey Rick we have them I'm Oklahoma too. It's BAD.
Reminds me of the grasshopper episode in the Bible! Hope they disappear quickly Rick! I’ve never seen them like this before!
You need a flock of sea gulls to save the day!
❤❤❤❤❤ the horses are looking great and for the grasshoppers I'd get some spray and spray the heck out of them
Wow biblical times! Awe we love the boys!!😂

I feel so bad for you guys. Bag worms are infesting all the trees in Houston too. It’s crazy. ❤
OMG, looks like the end of times plague. No kidding.
The first thing that came to mind when I played this was "repent" "repent".
Have a great week!

Wow, that is unreal! Lester and Jami are dealing with caterpillar infestations in Livingston and Plum Grove! Unreal!
Wow, that's as bad as the cicadas were! 😮
Happy Belated Father's Day Rick!
Yuck. I hate grasshoppers. But I bet the birds are happy.
Good Saturday afternoon 6/15 Rick 🤗🤗
Maybe the grasshoppers are driving them crazy!😮
We just had another Gypsy Moth invasion too in VA. I fear for my large oak trees. I have ten of them. What a mess.
Omgosh...YIKES
Ok that's wild!
Thats incredible, so many grass hoppers.
Biblical prophecies continue to manifest. Hope the boys are not bothered by them. I’m sure Moe-🔑 is filling his belly with them. 😂💯
I'm so sorry! Like The Cicada! Correction, Cicada can damage trees when depositing their eggs but not like locusts. They are everywhere!
😊👋Howdy howdy
@@HorseyGal4ever Great picture and hat!!!!!
Rick, let my people go before the next plague
Whoooooaaaa, that's nuts!
Oh wow!!!
Texas can keep them!!!
Holy Crap, I hate grasshoppers! They look too prehistoric for me-gives me the creeps! Keep on keepin' on!
How are your horses Rick ? I'm missing the updates on your animals although I know you have other things to enjoy.
Ohhhhh Buddy! Always pushing the limits. Yuck to the bugs!

Nice to see you and the horses. Not nice to see the icky grasshoppers. They crunch when you walk. I bet the people that eat them are happy.
I wonder many grasshoppers (or bugs in general) horses eat every year... 3 am thoughts. LOL
Your gvmnt wants you to eat them grasshoppers>
It would suck to drive, they would cover the windshield

@@aerochicc yep. The TLAH channel. Remember Rick also has Good Luck America and Think Like A Dog channels.
how are you doing Rick? Miss you and your videos!
Need neighbors chickens more often! 😅
I think those might be locusts? Locusts swarm, grasshoppers are more solitary.
Aren't they the same thing? Anything can swarm if there are enough of them.
Wonder if the chickens are eating them up.
Oh goody, a grasshopper year. I hope they don't make it to Paris. Last big one here was 2014.
WTH … Texas has lost its mind, man!!
missing Rick and the boys 🚒 🚒 🚒 🚒🚒
We had cicadas for 4 weeks.
HHP!😊
Haven’t seen you in ages
Looks like Florida when we have the baby toad invasion…😊
I'll be in Texas in July, hope it won't be this bad !
So we’re in bastrop at the moment and all types are aggressively hitting the apartment building. They are all different. It’s so strange
Time to get an army of ducks.
Rick I haven't seen you live in nearly a month. Please don't tell me pickleball is taking place of us horsie ppl lol
Wow! Sorry about your poor trees.
Rick where's Mokie cat, tell me he is okay too
Hi Rick
Oh my!!,
7 year locust
They are bad in southeastern Colorado also.
Dude... those are locusts! If the river turns to blood and frogs start showing up... kiss your behind goodbye!
Please do a commentary on Tara and the jumping in the barn with auntie the barn witch.
Too late to cover up fruit with window screening? Fried salted grasshoppers!
