it was kind of a perfect ending though in some ways. most of the show's episodes weren't about the conclusion of the story but the hint of where it was going.
They actually filmed the last episode as a pre-emptive way to wrap up the series should the show not last. They had an understanding the show was low on ratings so they were proactive about it.
