A quirky strategy to be sure, but pretty fun doing close to max damage per hit legitimately. If I had been able to keep Vanille's health in the green, she would have been doing 999999 per hit.
If you didn't know this:
The Tier 2+ ability "Ally KO: Power Surge II" on Vanille's Mistilteinn increases her damage by +130% for each downed ally, so she is doing 360% of her normal damage with both allies down.
You can't use fast casters because they won't cast spells as RAVs, which means they won't die when you want them to.
For Sazh: Any weapon except Rigels, Aldebarans, Pleiades Hi-Powers
For Hope: Any weapon except Airwing, Malphas, Alicanto
Imperil MUST stick on the first turn.
Sazh and Hope should be set up to survive exactly four attacks, no more and no fewer. The ideal case is shown, where you stagger before the third attack and then have your allies fall to a stomp and then Ultima or Quake post-stagger. Two stomps is fine but your times won't be as good. Unfortunately, his typical post-stagger routine seems to be a stomp and then Bay...
Not sure how much more I can lower my times unless I tweak the strategy.

This was my very first final fantasy. A game that got me into the genre and soon playing almost every FF title to date.
some people may hate it for it’s linearity sure but this is the game that sparked my interest into the rpg world. And I think if it was as bad as people said it was I never would’ve went to play other ff titles.

I'm in the same boat. With the first title ever being ff13. Insane hype back then is all I can recall. Replayed 2-3 times whole ff13 series as well as ffx (blitzball!).
The one I'm most looking forward to is ff7 pc which is sadly not on my play list as I sold my console long time ago..
I havent played this since it came out but i remember focusing so hard i was sweating and my heart was racing in some of the more intense fights. I almost want to try it again.
FF13 probably has my all time favorite combat system. Underrated gem.
@@IrrelevantOaf true, I hated turn based combat games before but FF13 and particularly first two caught me off guard. The fluidity, animations and building different team comps was really interesting. As for third I could forgive lack of teamwork since story development reasons I guess and having Lightning basically a one man army character for a fan is not a bad deal either..

Truth be told I always had doubt about the Ally KO: Power Surge ability. But man, after reading about it in this video, and seeing it put into action, I realise how foolish that was of me. Death is still good when it "hits" but this is at a whole different level.

Well it's underused on FF13 because Vanille is the only one able to have it. In FF13-2, Noel and every monsters in the game can have it, but not Serah.

That one normal enemy is the strongest thing in the game and you have to farm him to get the last weapon.but the point is to cast death and hope it dies before it stomps once or twice and kills eveyone. I didnt know it was possible to kill by normal means

FF XIII had great combat and looked fantastic considering the year it came out
yup, only one thing i would change, it would be nice to have the possibility of moving with the left analog stick, and menuing would be done with d-pad or right stick
@@pmsn3674 also the ability to switch leaders mid battle and have faster paradigm shifts, things that 13-2 addressed. Or you know, fully unlock party customization and placement by chapter 1-3 rather than chapter 10.
You mean the best combat of any ff game. Ff13 had many story upgrade progression and character related problems. But the combat is possibly my favorite of any game I’ve ever played in my life

After the bandwagon of hate this game had from players as well as people who hadn't even played this title before judging it, I'm happy to see how many positive comments this video has with players praising this game. It's like the time period where people felt cool to hate on FFXIII has finally passed and the ones still talking about it now are players who genuinely appreciate it.

One of my favorite FF’s
the damage? basically the higher the stagger meter the bigger the damage you do, of course I digress about the obvious stuff like equipment and such but his strategy are making vanille do most of the roles like debuff and buff and the other 2 teamates focus on making him stagger by using ravager. once he is ready, he switched vanille to ravager so you now have 3 ravagers putting stagger on him till he reach the max limit while also switching to sentinel during his attack so you have a reduced damage then go commando to take advantage of the stagger and profit.
Gorgeous looking game even to this day. The PS3 really was impressive for the time. I think ppl forget that the leap to PS4 was rather minor graphics wise.
I think the jump in graphics will keep becoming more and more narrow as time goes on. It's not like the old days when you were blown away by the improvements in graphics between one gen console compared to the other/ I'm old enough to remember being in awe in the jump in graphics on my Atari 5200 over the 2600, or the jump between NES to Super NES.
Well compare games from end of pa3 Era to end of ps4 Era. Or heck even just games from the same franchises. Rdr 1 vs 2, God of war 3 vs reboot. Heck even the remaster on ps4 of God of war 3 pales in comparison to the reboot.
Then you have games like horizon for example. Ones that don't necessarily have a huge franchise, but are still one off games mostly that are still way better looking than ps3.
And for people who think even the ps5 graphics are marginal improvement, compare demon souls ps3 to ps5. It's not even built from the ground up, it's just a remaster. Plus it's the beginning of the ps5 gen. The end of the gen always looks the best. That's when the big name studios release their most ambitious projects.

It also helps that the PS4pro is MUCH more powerful than the launch PS4. The launch PS4 wasn't a whole lot ahead of the Switch, but the PS4 pro blows it out of the water.
The graphics difference doesn't mean much until you start playing on bigger TVs. 1080 still looks good, and it isn't even close to the highest quality resolution anymore. However, not many people have a 4k, 8k, etc TV.
@@MountSilky252 I dunno about that.... I think a lot of ppl now have 4K displays. They don't even sell 1080p televisions anymore as far as I'm aware.
But yeah I agree that the better resolution certainly makes more of a difference with a bigger display. It's why even 720p can look great on the Switches screen. You won't see much difference between 720p and 1080p on such a small display.

There is definitely something special about ff13 menu sounds and character gifs. And the summons creativity! Motorbike Shiva? I was blown away. The Battle theme is incredible as well, it always gave me hope to win.
Honestly, the strats from this game were so comfortable to sink my teeth into. I loved it. This game is just a pleasant experience (for the most part) and I think it holds up pretty nicely graphically imo.

The Mistiltein rod ability is Ally KO: Power Surge 2 in it's 2nd and final forms = 130% if one character is dead and doubles the amount to 260% if both are dead.

Yes there are. The game's also natively capped at 30fps but theres a mod to get 60 and idk if higher even

Yo play it on series X/one X and it looks almost like a remaster. With the back compat enhancements it looks gorgeous. Especially those cutscenes are mind blowing like they still hold up pretty amazingly compared to modern games.

I kinda just switched back to PlayStation when the PS4 came out, so I mostly play on PS4. And never got them on PS3, as it was kinda how XB1 is now, I just had it for exclusives mostly.
So I'd like a nice new remastered bundle, or simply a good port of them on one disc for the PS4/5. 😁

Only after maxing out defense on snow (I think I could get its attack down to about 1600 points or something) and attack potential on my other two did I finally do it. Never have to do it again, thankfully

All these games were just on sale on steam. I just got them all and have been playing 13 for the last week. This video is amazing. I've beaten 13 and 13-2 already before when they came out, but I never got to play lightning returns. I can't wait.

Ff7 8 and 10 were my childhood too. Just last week I got ff9 on pc. So far so good.
OMFG i have a feng dragoon lance, maxed out tier 3, 3 maxed out dmg items, and 1 genji glove... making about 4100 physical dmg, and at most i can only do 300k per hit -__-
First do you have the enfire buff? Second is the turtle debuffed with deprotect? Third do you have the physical and magical damage buff?
