Fun fact apparently talking to yourself is a trauma response. Meaning that at some point in time when you were growing up there was someone you may have held in high regard or someone of importance or just someone you’d like to talk to but never really listened to you or never really validated your feelings or emotions. Like they always brushed it off or never really listened to you. so at some point in time your mind decided the best way to cope with the lack of acknowledgment is to talk to yourself. I relate to how Dan was talking about how he talks himself, because it’s kind of like a way for you to know that someone is there listening. it’s not that your looking for a response, it’s more like your looking for someone to listen to you. and the reason I feel like someone would talk to themselves is because you’re the only one who you know for sure will listen to you and won’t shut you down. sometimes it’s relieving or almost comforting to know that someone is listening even if it’s yourself whose listening
Wow. Thank you for sharing! I want to share this. I talk to myself because it'll be better for my mental health. If I'm mad, I will ask myself why do I get mad? What is the reason? And then comforting myself. Talking to yourself is not Asperger, it's more like a healing thing to do when someone's not there, or when want to know more about your deep emotions.

I completely understand what Dan means by talking to himself! It's not like a two-sided conversation though it's more just me disecting my thoughts more thoroughly than I would be able to in my head. If I'm thinking really hard about something I tend to lose my train of thought. Saying it out loud keeps me on track I guess. It's also fun lol

Holy shit!!!!😭😭😭 This was LITERALLY one of THE best conversations ever. I always watch y'alls new interviews all the time but this just felt so therapeutic in a way. And i love how you both go deep with your questions. It literally felt like a therapy session. I wish this could have gone on for like three or four hours and i would watch all of it lol i will definitely watch this one again!!!!!!

i've been following johnny's journey for a while now (since 2018 i'm pretty sure), and he has grown so well musically. we are pretty similar in age so, through the years, as he released new music, i always loved it bc i was always in the same period of my life. watching this interview now, i'm even more excited for this album bc i still continue to relate to him very much and i'd say even more than i did for his previous eps. what he struggles with seems to be exactly what i struggle with too so im very excited to listen to this project, i feel like it's going to hit right home.

i love him so much and this interview was one of the best ive ever watched
this may be my favourite episode, soley because you can see the progression of Johnny becoming more comfortable. thats not to say that Zach and Dan made him uncomfortable, but i imagine no matter who you are (unless you’re a narcissist) ,sitting down in-front of a bunch of cameras to answer questions about yourself isn’t a comfortable setting, but you can really see Johnny relaxing and becoming comfortable with them

I've been following Johnny since I was 12 I am also now 19 (2 months older than Johnny) so that's 7 years.
I'll admit sometimes closer than others but much love for him. Still hoping he comes to Melbourne Australia in concert.
I relate to Dan. I have to speak out loud to myself to make sense of my thoughts. My internal dialogue is too slow and foggy. I often talk to myself out loud. Sometimes I am talking to God cause that's what I believe. I really enjoyed the depth of conversation in this podcast. 🦋💞✨

I think that musicians and people that learned music have different thinking and perspective about music and songs. For example- which song on the album is the best. But if you want to sell or be The BEST, you need to think about what people like, what sells, what is catchy, and then when you will be big- you won't have to think about it cas people gonna like u no matter what.

I'm also a soft spoken person, at least I know I'm not the only one lol. I love Johnny so much! All his music is so good! Fun fact: I also write my own songs! I haven't done anything with them yet. But Johnny is my inspiration, so I might one day. My dream is for Johnny to listen to my music when I release them, and hopefully him and I can become the best of friends. He's really not that much older than I am, I'm 15 and he's 19. Only a 4 year age difference!

I was watching this on Roku and had to find my tablet to comment. I know there maybe some kidding but you went to far with saying Dan needed a therapist because he talks out loud to himself. There is absolutely nothing dysfunctional about doing this. Some people just need to hear the words to process the issue.
