Tempe's streetcar seemed like a pretty solid system when I tried it. You answered my question as to why they went with battery-electric, I guess overhead wires can be unsightly, not something you'd usually think about as a train enthusiast.
True. Also I think they didn't want to impact the trees on Mill.
