Well it's not the song about people that passed away but it definitely is the song about beloved people who are gone (in a way they left your life). It's about the regrets you have about those people. So as you see each of them prepared a gift for the loved one. But it's not like they're excited about preparing a gift because they already knew that the reality was fake. I guess you know that according to their concept, members came from EXO-Planet and each has a superpower. Believing the theory, Tao (the one from EXO-M who had the power of time) previously turned back time for them to do to their loved ones what they regreted not having done when they were really together. So they knew the time has been turned back and they got a "fake" chance to get things right. That's why you didn't see the excitement on their faces. So in the end we see them realizing that you can't use your superpowers to fix things that are already broken. And that one chance and one gift is not enough to save relationships. The past should remain the past, you just need to let it go and move on. So Tao turned back time again the moment before they could see their loved ones and hurt themselves any more. That's what this MV is about. It's great song even though it's sad. They released it on Christmas and New Year to remind people that it's a perfect time to let go of the past and move on to the brighter future. Thanks for you reaction! Good bye Christmas by Lay (he's an EXO member too) is an amazing song, is in both, Chinese and English version but I suggest the Chinese version because the lyrics are deeper than the English ver. This song is from his solo winter album I think you'll like it a lot. The video that's uploaded in the sm channel is the Chinese one but it doesn't have subtitles... What I like about EXOs music is they tend to let the vocalists sing without too much special effects to their vocals, like letting their pure vocals stand on itself. I find that very impressive because this means when they sing live, it sounds like this if not better. It's such a beautiful and somehow haunting song with a lot of symbolism in the MV which are a bit difficult to grasp if one does not know SHINee but nonetheless beautiful! Onew is really well known for his really unique voice colour and he also sings opera and holds the record for the longest note in K-Pop with 40 seconds!
