Two years ago I purchased a pink guava in a 5 gallon at Home Depot here in southwest coastal Florida. It was the first tree I planted in this house that my wife and I had just moved into. Two years later it's tall enough to hang over the roof. The fruit is delicious.
Bought my first Guava plant the other day, from my favorite health food market. They've got a small nursery out front, where I always seem to find a gem or two that gets me very excited. I found a plant, unlabeled and had to get an employee to tell me that it was a Guava. Bought it for $7.99, about 2 ft. tall. I think that's a bargain! But, since it is not tagged, it will be a total surprise to see what kind of fruit it produces. Don't know if there is any way to tell the difference just by looking at leaves.
I have several Guavas trees in my yard. The fruit is so delicious. I have acquired a Ruby X Supreme tree it's supposed to be great tasting. Your video makes me want to eat a guava. Too bad mine are not ripe yet 😔
In SoCal where I live it's very common to see these trees growing with our weather! Kind of luckily and unluckily the weather news said we have a bigger chance of getting hurricane conditions this year so, that might be a good thing and a bad thing. Especially a bad thing if you grow lots of cacti like nopales and cactus apples/prickly pears...
Hey, I was curious how often do your Guava plants thin out already pollinated buds? We been having some extreme temperatures and im unsure if this is from that or natural in a first time flowering Tropical Pink
I know I'm late. But, you can get it at Mexican convenient store or some Asian market! Or if you want to buy a plant, go on eBay and buy the grafted guava tree so it can fruit quicker!
You made my mouth water and left me wanting a guava. First thing tomorrow I’m going to the store the get some guavas, but of course they don’t even come close to yours. The guavas in my supermarket are small. I would say two bite size or in my case one bite size.
I got a pink Beaumont guava tree and the fruit look like your too. I planted a Thailand white guava onto the ground last year and it gave me one fruit (baseball size) which is super sweet, kinda of like eating sugar. That 1 fruit had bird pecking damage which I hope is not the case for the super sweet attribute.
Ok! Guess who’s going out to buy a tree? My daughter and I tried a pastry with guava and cheese from a famous bakery in LA! She wished we could buy the jam! I said, “Let’s just grow a tree..and one of my fav you tubers probably grew one...” SURE ENOUGH, here you are! Thank you! Love when you enjoy your harvest!
I have a huge garden I have a pear tree an apple tree carrots tomatoes cucumbers and when I was about four a guava tree randomly started to grow and when I was 8 I picked some guava and it was pink when I bit into it
Hi Wendi, do you live in LA or OC, I wish you can share with me a little brand of pink guava. I want to graft to my tree plus it keeps for boring. I retired more than 5 years ago. I live in Lakewood and near the Lakewood mall. Thanks in advance Wendi!
When You had it in the pot for two years did it fruit, if it did how much? I live in the coast of Charleston SC so its pretty tropical. I live in a condo with a bright sunroom and wondered how it would do indoors I was going to buy one grafted from my nursery thats 3foot
Nice , how do you deal with squirrels and birds eating into your share though? Ultrasonic pest repellant ? Angry dog ? Pitbull pee spray ? Whats your 'strategery' ? For convenience i 'pick' pink guavas in the local hispanic grocery store though.
Hi..... We are in S Calif too. We just realized a bird must have dropped a seed into one of my pots and IT IS A GUAVA! I'm so excited, I wanted a guava tree! Now where to plant it ? Thanks for the tip on pruning to keep it smaller, genius.....

I know most of guava trees are not grafted.guava is one of my favorite fruit .and its good for health too. has more vitamin c then orange almost like in papaya.guava heve a very special smell!! people or hate it or love it
Did your guava produce fruit while in a pot? I'm wondering because I would very much like to keep a guava plant, but I live in the east coast, where it can get pretty cold and would need to keep it indoors. :/
Isabel Navarro-Bledsoe I have several guava trees in black plastic nursery pots that fruited and the fruit was actually sweet. I personally have notice they like lots of sunlight to give sweet fruit.
@Wendi Phan, What is the brand name, the price and where you purchased it from of the sea salt you use for planting/gardening? If you can show the product etc.
What could causes a guava tree to dry up and die within just a few days? ... i have a very nice medium guava tree about 45-40 years old that have been producing a lot of fuits in past years... but just this past week, all the leaves on the tree dries up, and when i pruned the thick branches (about 3-4 inches in diameter) that were especially dry looking, the wooden braches are very dry as it it has been dried and dead for a month ... the leaves did not fall, but dried on the branches.
Could anyone tell me what zones the pink guava can grow in? Specificially can they handle North Carolina weather? I have 2 and a 1/2 feat tall potted one, can it handle like 10-20 degrees fahrenheit outside?

Janice B great buy
If the leaves are redish then it's a pink guava. If it's white than it's a Thai Guava
Where did you buy it from ?
I bought one. I was told by a resident expert that the Pink is the best for the bay area. Sweetens and takes cold better then the White. I hope so!
knowallcity where did you buy the tree?
Wendy thanks for what you do! Where can I learn more about the sea salt you use for minerals?
She would be talking about a product called 'Sea 90'
I have several Guavas trees in my yard. The fruit is so delicious. I have acquired a Ruby X Supreme tree it's supposed to be great tasting. Your video makes me want to eat a guava. Too bad mine are not ripe yet 😔

Guava is sub tropical, but it is one of the hardier fruit trees.
Let us know how it grows! Good luck!
Hey Wendy! Where did you get your guava tree from? Thank you.
Wow. Four years asking this question, and no answer yet 😅 you probably need to write down her name properly so that she answers

Grow it if you have room. Make sure to mineralize it well, you won't be disappointed. :)
Mineralize? what kind?
