Two years ago I purchased a pink guava in a 5 gallon at Home Depot here in southwest coastal Florida. It was the first tree I planted in this house that my wife and I had just moved into. Two years later it's tall enough to hang over the roof. The fruit is delicious.

Bought my first Guava plant the other day, from my favorite health food market. They've got a small nursery out front, where I always seem to find a gem or two that gets me very excited. I found a plant, unlabeled and had to get an employee to tell me that it was a Guava. Bought it for $7.99, about 2 ft. tall. I think that's a bargain! But, since it is not tagged, it will be a total surprise to see what kind of fruit it produces. Don't know if there is any way to tell the difference just by looking at leaves.

In SoCal where I live it's very common to see these trees growing with our weather! Kind of luckily and unluckily the weather news said we have a bigger chance of getting hurricane conditions this year so, that might be a good thing and a bad thing. Especially a bad thing if you grow lots of cacti like nopales and cactus apples/prickly pears...

I got a pink Beaumont guava tree and the fruit look like your too. I planted a Thailand white guava onto the ground last year and it gave me one fruit (baseball size) which is super sweet, kinda of like eating sugar. That 1 fruit had bird pecking damage which I hope is not the case for the super sweet attribute.

... i have a very nice medium guava tree about 45-40 years old that
have been producing a lot of fuits in past years... but just this past
week, all the leaves on the tree dries up, and when i pruned the thick
branches (about 3-4 inches in diameter) that were especially dry
looking, the wooden braches are very dry as it it has been dried and
dead for a month ... the leaves did not fall, but dried on the branches.

Could anyone tell me what zones the pink guava can grow in? Specificially can they handle North Carolina weather? I have 2 and a 1/2 feat tall potted one, can it handle like 10-20 degrees fahrenheit outside?

The leaves will burn at 35 degrees plus wind chill. You could try growing in a green house.

Grow it if you have room. Make sure to mineralize it well, you won't be disappointed. :)
