Thanks for making this video. Very informative. I was a little surprised you were waitlisted by Vandy and rejected by UCLA and NWU. Your package was definitely good enough to get into them. It proved again that college application is unpredictable.
It would be super helpful to hear about your experiences at brown so far (classes, social life, weather, just in general) since I'm considered ed but haven't had a chance to visit! Tysm :)
Thanks so much for making this video! Your videos are extremely helpful! Am I allowed to ask how much you have to pay to go to Brown? My parents are in the same income bracket where we make around 150-200k, but I still want to apply for aid.
Do you think I could contact you about my application next cycle? Tbh my resume looks strikingly similar to yours so I'm wondering more about suggestions on how I should frame my common app essay
Thank you for your sharing your detailed stat and application process at Brown, do you get any kind of merit scholarships at brown , how much do you actually pay for tuition if you don’t qualify for any scholarship, really appreciate the help!
Hey man, thanks for the video. I’m currently a sophomore in high school and I’m thinking about doing a BS/MD, and I stumbled across your video. I actually do a lot of the ECs you do (xc, indoor and outdoor) and I’m also Chinese with a family background in medicine. My question is, how do I stand out as a candidate? I’m taking dual enrollment classes at my local community college, but my school is very competitive when it comes to GPA. I’m also lacking medical job shadowing/volunteer hours, so I was wondering how/when I should do that. Thanks again for the vid
Definitely get some clinical experience. You need a good essay and personal story about why you have decided to pursue medicine as a high school student. This is the main factor that sets your app apart
@@sparklelistzhi, I’m a sophomore in HS also. I suggest reaching out to a bunch of local professors or medical professionals. Generally, some of them tend to take students over the summer or during the year
Thank you! I'm applying next cycle, and I would love to hear your opinions on applying ED to Brown and if it might increase my PLME chances? Also, I haven't been able to shadow during hs especially because of covid, will this drag down my chances significantly?
Applying ED might help your chances because it's a binding decision. I think the acceptance rate is higher on average but the people who are admitted are still equally qualified. I don't think shadowing is required, but make sure you have experience in medicine that can answer the question of why you should be admitted into plme.
@@leonzhaoo I heard applying ED might increase chance to get into PLME but it might also put you into just normal undergrad and you still have to go because it's binding, is that true?
@@leonzhaoo I haven't been able to get any because of covid :/ I was applying all over sophomore year but then the programs were all shut down. thankyou so much for this video! I found it, and the rest of your videos to be incredibly helpful. I am a junior currently, so I will be graduating in the class of 2022. How do you think PLME applications will change for my application year and do you have any advice to stand out?
Thanks! I'm not sure how plme applications will be different. There will probably be less of a focus on SATs and more on other aspects of the application. I can only talk from my own experience. I think doing what I loved to do helped me to be true to myself and that showed in my essays, which helped me stand out.
thank you so much for your video it was so helpful! One question please, if you're an international student, is it possible to get full financial aid if you demonstrated the required need? and also, in case you get full financial aid, does it continue for all the 8 years? thanks🙏
Hey Leon, thanks for the video, this was awesome. I'm really interested in how you were able to shadow/get volunteer experience in the OR in high school. Could you give me some details on how that opportunity arose for you? Thanks so much!
Sure, I was lucky in that my mom worked in the OR so she connected me with some doctors there. Def harder nowadays bc of covid but I would say any personal connection helps
Hey, thanks so much for the vid man, really helpful. Just had a question: I struggled to find doctors to shadow until recently, but I am applying next cycle, and I will not get that many hours (
I'm sure that there are other students facing the same dilemma with the covid situation. I would focus on the parts of the application you have more control over
Is physics in high school a requirement for applying to the PLEME program? The website said 2 years of lab science above the freshman level is required. I already took 2 years of lab science: chem and bio. Is it necessary to take a physics class too, this year?
I would recommend taking physics. Even if it's not an actual requirement taking it shows that you are more prepared. PLME requires undergrads to take physics before med school
Hi bro I'm an international student who wanted to apply to the BS/MD program. However, I seriously need a full ride. Apart from Brown's PLME that gives full ride, which other college offer full ride for international students for the BS/MD
As far as I know, Brown PLME only offers need-based scholarships for both undergrad and medical school. I'm also not an expert on school's policies for international students. You would be better served with a google search for that.

I'm not the best person to ask about this since I didn't apply as an international student to any bsmds (hence, I don't know what each school's policy is). A quick online search will probably be more helpful than any info I could give

How much aid did you receive? And does your aid continue to Warren Alpert or does it stop after Undergrad?
