What's actually wrong with the sunroof tracking mechanism?

I had high hopes; your problem is exactly the same as mine, my sunroof opened more on the left, then got stuck in the same position as yours. I took the motor out and and am currently trying to find an error in the mechanism (I didn't see that link you showed, so thanks for that). I would like to see you take it to the level of a complete repair rather than just a quick fix. I can get mine to close now; it's easy with the motor out, but I want a complete fix. I'll let you know what I find out.

@@grantde I don't know I spent 10 hours trying to resolve the problem had it completely disassembled and was unable to resolve it

I had same issue. I just pushed it closed and havent opened it again in 10 years.😂
