Did you notice how the hospital changed? Lived in Columbia 1972-77. Every time we visit we are amazed at how the trees have grown and changed the look of neighborhoods.

My parents were the first people to move in on Spotted Horse Lane in the late 1960s. I sold the house when I retired in 2016! I saw Columbia before the houses were even built. From farm land to the over built place it is now. So much change! Back then the promise was Columbia is 1/3 open space and always will be! Not that way now!

Thank you for posting that video. We lived in Columbia MD from 2000 till 2004 and loved it very much ! It is interesting to see how it looke like in the "old" days. I can recognize many places and buildings we've been to, including Columbia Mall, Lake Kittamakundi, beginning of Howard County hospital, where our son was born in 2002.

:) So awesome! Bring back the petting zoo at Symphony Woods! We used to go to RenFest there too. I remember "jousting" in the woods. haha And the cinema at Lake Kittamaqundi. and of course, the much loved People Tree! Great memories! Thanks for sharing!

Right, that's when Symphony Woods was actually woods, not the pathetic strip of trees that's left around Merriweather.

Although it may not have much interest for you, I enjoy going to the Howard County web site and viewing the aerial photos taken over the years, especially the sixties and seventies. That's the road system and development I remember.

It's funny seeing Howard Community College back in 1975. That building at 8:21 is now actually the Library. They have built so much around it.

I may be wrong, but I think at that time it was called the Cross Keys Inn.
