Peerless Double Oak Rye is a top 5 bottle for me right now. Just incredible.
I've had the hard truth sweet mash rye, as a store pick 🎉😊 it was wonderful
Bryan at Hard Truth is putting out excellent juice. Had a great time with Cam doing a pick there last year. A must visit distillery.
I paid $99 for my Peerless DO and it's absurdly amazing. So is the DO bourbon, which retails for less and is just as good if not better.
Walleye run is also very tropical
Hard Truth is incredible! I'm from Indiana and it pains me so much that it's priced as high as it is with an insane amount of variations, makes it hard to commit to dropping the money on a new bottle from them.
I'm also from Indiana. You just nailed why I haven't pulled the trigger on buying Hard Truth. Also add in the age statement. I appreciate the transparency but 2 + years for that price is hard sell.
Dan looking more like Gary Busey every single video with this new hair… and I like it.
no womder you guys have been best friends forever...you're def the ying/yang combo. hehe, good stuff!
If you ever see the first edition of the Hard Truth Mellencamp rye pick it up. It is obscenely maple-forward on the nose (with some flan thrown in for good measure) while drinking somewhere between a rye and a bourbon. Fantastic stuff.
I have two batches of the Peerless Toasted and I really enjoy it. I want the DO and the DO Rye. Later this spring they're dropping a Toasted Rye. Can't wait for it.
If you guys haven't gone back to the pinhook, the 9yr barrels (at least the one I got) are pretty awesome, almost like a baby RR15 with a ton of oak, tobacco, leather, spice.
I got one of brewzles peerless DO one of the best bottles I had this year
I thought they don't do double oaked picks
Was just at Hard Truth a couple weeks ago for a whiskey thieving tour. They have some excellence stuff aging right now. Left with a Sweet Mash Caramel Malt that is phenomenal. Cheers!
I haven't had the hard truth.... but that peerless is AMAZING 0:57
Here in the LA region the peerless DO is 89 consistently
Your New Holland single barrel rye pick tasted like a straight up fruit cocktail. I miss it so much. Do another pick!
Dope intro
I get a strong BBQ sauce note on the Peerless.
Love them both, but love the Peerless a tiny bit more.
As a bourbon-first guy, Hard Truth has impressed me more with their rye releases than with their bourbon. Hard Truth is now my new favorite distiller with Frey Ranch dropping back to second favorite new distiller. And I still love many the legacy distillers. Peerless Double Oaked bourbon is the winner compared to the Double Oaked Rye for me, though the main bone I have to pick with Peerless is their price of their Rye.
Still skeptical about buying any more Peerless. Their basic and DO bourbon wasn’t anything special to me for the insane price tag and the DO rye is generally $140 around here
Find a Single Barrel Peerless Double Oak rye, it's a heavy hitter. Even friends that aren't whiskey drinkers were impressed
Great Hard Truth review. Been waiting for you guys to review them. Did a tour with them last year and it was phenomenal. Can’t wait for them to release more stuff. If you want an older Hard Truth bottle it’s called Old Schoonover. It’s 14 years old but I think it’s $200
yall should do a double oaked blind. i did one and was surprised. had WR DO, WR DO pick, Nulu DO, Peerless DO, OF1910, and Jeffersons twin oaked in mine. for me, regular WR DO won, followed by Nulu DO, then WR DO pick, Peerless, 1910, and jeffersons in last. i liked them all, but the vanilla in the shelf WR did it in. now i gotta go get the hard truth.....
I still need to try Hard Truth. Love Peerless
Peerless double anything is great!
Need a Hard Truth pick. They are fantastic Ryes.
I really hate the price for Peerless DO Rye, but I will pay it so it never leaves my shelf. Hard Truth is good for the price though.
You know, if you come down to Hard Truth for a barrel pick, you could swing back through Indy and hit up Vida. Smoked Lamb and Wagyu Ribeye currently on the tasting menu. 👍
to me peerless rye reminds me of parkers double barreled but less proof and cost
Love you guys but really wish you could keep it PG so I can watch with the family around 😂
🎉🎉🎉
is Dan ok? Also, the whiskey's look dark as night!
Sweet mash is the way. Wilderness Trail has some really good offerings and their SiB BP stuff is only around $50.
DO rye from peerless is top 5 on any shelf you put it on
What is the difference between sweet and sour mash?
When is Just for Men gonna be a sponsor?
Sour Mash helps keep the pH at the correct levels with minimal effort. Sweet Mash you need to be more careful. Funnily enough, I've heard distilleries say they do it for "consistency" :P
I liked peerless a lot but it is marginally better because of price point.
Just getting into ryes. Do you think the double oak might be too much for a rye newbie?
Is that Dan or Rip from Yellowstone?
Constructive criticism: fix your center camera focus... Your side camera focus is dialed. Mirror that for the center camera. The foreground is awful, the background is clear. Your faces are a little fuzzy, the bottles on the box are completely out of focus.
Great reviews guys! Been watching for a few years now 🫡
Woo hoo
The Hard Truth Mellencamp collaboration rye that I have is a great bottle 👍, Peerless is too expensive for me and 🤷
Looooove that Peerless
So a 120 dollar bottle is better than a 70-80 dollar bottle. Peerless should be really glad the hard truth lost is all I’m saying. I want to see hard truth come out with something older, it seems like they are more concerned with making more sku’s than anything right now.
The Hard Truths I have had I have not been a fan of. I feel they are heavily pushed by IG content creators.
Doing the anus/anise mix up in '25 is rough.
If I live until 2075 I'll still say it so don't you worry
@@BourbonJunkies anus.
That Hard truth is for sure not $90 srp. More like $75.
Just what I saw on breaking bourbon.
Hard Truth - priced last week in southern Indiana is $90.
@@whiskeyyum1341 for what bottle? I can get this bottle and do have this bottle in Indy for $75 at total wine.
Thrilled to see Hard Truth on this channel. I would be happy if Hard Truth and Sagamore were the only rye I ever have again
Redemption rye is amazing !!!!! And way cheaper
