Evidently, according to fans who were in the audience, this was his fourth try to sing the song. He wasn't able to get thru it without crying. This was his first TV appearance in 7 years and he had been thru alot personally and professionally. He was about to release his 7th album and also do a series of concerts, so he choose this well known and respected show to 'make his comeback'. So he was very emotional on this song which he and the pianist cowrote during their military service. Its really about his life journey thru all kinds of crap where he got screwed over several times by management companies, and his hope for the spring where he will bloom again. He has music hoing back to about 1998 I believe. Some people like his older style of singing but he changed to this - a more natural sound for him. There are some videos that tell his story. But he is truly an amazing singer, and song writer. He also does musical theater and has won best musical actor. He won stage of the year, the year this song came out, for his Dreamer tour. He has several OSTs for dramas, my favorite being The Day for Mr Sunshine.
I'm not trying to make an issue of it but i was in the audience and he sang the song twice. that's his second try haha

Park Hyo Shin is definitely something special! I listen to his music every day. Chills abound anytime I hear his voice. The collaborations between him and Jung Jae Il are just awe inspiring. People make a big deal about Dimash, but Park Hyo Shin is just.... I don't have the words. Your reaction is spot on! Shell-shocked and floating in eargasmic Nirvana. Welcome. LOL
Dimash is good, but the main thing for him is to demonstrate the capabilities of his voice. But Park Hyo Shin shows us the beauty of the song. You want to listen to his emotional voice again and again. It's magic.

@LesageSinging Listen, I completely understand you! I balled like a baby the first time I saw this performance, too. That's his power. From then on, I became a die hard fan of his. One of the most powerful story tellers I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.
I'm trying my hardest not to info dump right now and you probably already know, but he's truly a legendary singer here in Korea. A class of his own, truly. Came out SWINGING at 19 and has only gotten better over the years. His story also tugs at your heart strings, like here.
I really hope you dive more into his discography and his history. This won't be the last time you are touched so deeply by our Captain's sincerity.

I have to comment on your wonderful video after seeing your honest and emotional response to this performance. I admit that I am moved to tears every time I watch him sing this song. It is hard to explain the emotional impact Park Hyo Shin has on listeners when he performs with his emotion so completely exposed. I was lucky enough to be there at his concert in 2019. Among the many memorable performances during that 4 hour long concert (!), PHS sang a version of Wildflower that ended with him and the audience performing a callback of the "la la la" refrain of Wildflower against a theme from the next song he performed "Sound of Winter". It felt like all of the audience had joined PHS' spirit and became a single entity singing from our hearts. I have never experienced anything like it before or since. Jung Jae Il, the pianist is the co writer of the song, and the composer of the Original Soundtracks for the films Parasite , and Okja, among other works. I always feel this is a genuine duet, and the way it is filmed really shows that.
And Mickey 17 also Squid Game.
Been a while but hey! I love park hyoshin hes got such a unique, deep,slow vibrato. Another fav for me is jung dong ha; raspy, strong range etc.

You should also check out the Korean cross over quartet “ Forestella “ . They sing in many different languages often combining genres. I think you’ll love them. Two of the members are classically trained. Third member was an amateur rock singer and fourth person a musical actor. Together they create magic.

Park Hyo Shin is considered as the singers' singer in Korea, he is a vocal God. He puts emotion into every song he sings. Please look more into his portfolio, he is magnificent. He also does stage musicals where he has won awards. No one sings like Park Hyo Shin.

If you'd like to see another performance by Park Hyo Shin, you should see his video entitled "Goodbye" from 2019: th-cam.com/video/Xp8Ep1W-azw/w-d-xo.html. He's been in another entanglement with his record label since then (they weren't paying him his advances or his royalties), so he is just now gone into the studio again to record another album. So that should be out around this summer. I am really hoping to go to Seoul this summer to see him perform - I am told it is an experience - he sounds as good live as he does in his studio recordings.

Park Hyo Shin...yes good looking man with an amazing voice. I think PHS doesn't just sing his songs he feels them and we get taken up in that emotion even though we don't know the language. I thank V of BTS for 'introducing ' us in the rest of the world to this amazing singer in their collab Winter Ahead and now thanks to reactors like you he's becoming more 'out there.'
