Out of all the K-POP companies, YG Entertainment is known to pay their artists most and is one of the few companies that do not impose a trainee debt system or impose a monetary penalty for withdrawing from an artist contract.
A few years ago, it was disclosed that YG Entertainment spends $100,000 USD per year on each of their trainees. The budget accounts for the staff required to monitor and care for the trainee, the instructors providing all the training, the room & board costs, health care costs, transportation costs, and a monthly stipend for the trainee (this is deposited directly into the trainee's account, so they can use it for their own needs and to learn money management). None of the trainees are required to pay for any of this, even if they end up withdrawing from the YG trainee program and go to another company.

Ofc YGE has its flaws, but some positive things about YGE are they do pay their idols well and trainees come out of their trainee years with no debt as well as having solid skills and huge stage presence. Additionally, they often nurture the self-producing aspect so their artists can earn from that too. I always get drawn in by YG artists' personalities as well bc they have such cute personalities which contrast with their on-stage image.

Ruka is now 22years old and she is even more powerful. Her vocal rap tone and stage presence now looks like and sounds like a prowling tiger. She roars and boy you sit up and get really stunned at her power on stage. Watch their Tokyo fan meet which is more a concert than a fan meet.

Ruka stole my heart in this intro. I became emotional while watching this for the first time almost 2 years ago and still feel those emotions watching it now with you. If you haven't already watched the member reaction to YG choosing the final members for Babymonster for debut, then watch when you get a chance and you'll see the connection at the end of it with Ruka saying here she wants to pay back her mother's love.

RUKA ❤ is the oldest of the group and is super outgoing and happy, I can't wait for them to see LAST EVALUATION so they can get to know the girls and their training well.

Yes it is heartbreaking to think of the trainees that don't make it. That is the reality in kpop and really any other competitive field.
That being said, many of these trainees end up debuting with other groups. For example, Miyeon of g-idle was a trainee under yg with the Blackpink members but was cut. Another example is Minju of Illit, who trained with the Babymonster members before finding her current success. These are just a couple examples of dozens of idols that left big 3 companies to debut elsewhere.
The same applies to survival shows. Many contestants that don't make the final cut end up debuting in other groups, benefitting from the exposure and experience. A couple of examples are Soyeon of g-idle and Yunjin from Leserrafim.

YG is always the king of urban music in Korea, there is no Kpop agency with better rappers than YG, the best thing is that they never change that urban and street style, that is why YG groups are so successful because regardless of the era. or what is in fashion, great rappers always give us, YG DOES NOT follow trends, YG IS THE FASHION.

@13:00 No, YG trainees don't get paid. They do get an allowance though, so how they spend it is up to them, usually just enough to spend on their off days though since all living expenses is covered by YG.
But even that is actually not the norm. Most K-pop entertainment companies put their Artists in debt for their training, so they continue to not get any profit share other then their allowance until they've payed off their debt. Which is why so many YG trainees who don't make it into a YG group can afford debuting in another company's groups (as they are VERY likely to be picked for debut).
YG artists who debut on the other hand get profit share from day 1 as YG consider training an investment and not a debt to be repaid.

I fell for Ruka at this very moment. The tears and her little chat with raps even with her mother, got me. Hook line and sinker. She is so charming and dedicated to her craft.

YGE idols get paid really well, it is know that their idols are wealthy. Trainees don't pay either as the company see it as an investment. YGE has its flaws but that's not one. They respect their idols personal life with things like dating. Those things are really cool. Problems historically come from not release much music which is a pity because they craft 10/10 artists and after debut they waste their talent. That is changing now apparently as they hired many producers to release music faster, Babymonster had this recent mini album and they will comeback with a full album this fall. Blackpink took 4 years to release a full album for example.

Many trainees are young, but they made their own choices and spent time for their dreams.
Of course, some make a debut and others fail.
But even if they have achieved a lot of growth and failed to make a debut through this process, they grow by learning the physical and mental skills to do anything.
Success is a wonderful thing, but failure is also a valuable asset for your next success.
I don't know anything else, but just by failing as a trainee at YG, you can enter another company as a top-ranked player and even if you're not debuting, you can look for a career path in other areas of the same industry.
Anyway, challenging themselves for their dreams motivates many fans. "I can do it, too."
We want baby monsters to grow bigger and be loved in the future.

Ruka is all rounder , she can sing, dance, rap, compose and arrange songs, she even leads the members in dancing because she has 16 years of dancing experience and she has the most hip hop DNA among the members even when she is quiet , she has the strongest leader aura among the other members. and that's the reason why YG said that she has a lot of charm and YG is very confident that we will fall under kawai ruka's charm 🦥🔥

In terms of contracts YGE has always been the company that has paid its idols the best, since they were a small company until BIG BANG which literally put YGE in the big three. And I don't think things have changed, so I think the girls will get paid well with their music, concerts and advertising with brands.

YG pays its idols 50% of all its profits and if the idols produce or write their songs they give them even more percentage, YG is the kpop agency that pays its idols the best in all of Korea, that's why YG has so few groups, however that guarantees that the idols give their all and make more efforts to shine since they know that if they are successful their reward will be immense.

There were a couple Chinese girls (maybe 3...); two tried out for a Chinese pop group. Lisa was the Dance mentor for the survival show called: Youth With You #2...(and #3 boys). The girls made the show, but didn't end up in the group. **Good survival show for you to watch.
**Plus ...the trainiees get an allowance while they are training for the group.
    Great reaction!! Cheers 🍺😉🇨🇦

I think you guys should react to "Baby Monster Members Announcement Reaction" Its the girls reaction as YG announces the final members of Baemon. It was the last episode of the "8-part Final Evaluation Serie" where YG had his top 7 trainees undergo a final process to select the "5" members who will debut as Baby Monster. YG was supposed to debut only 5. Its crazy really.
With regards to what these girls are getting interms of pay , No need to worry, YGE got the best deals for his artists amongs all the kpop companies.

Great Reaction Along For The Ride! RUKA has the YG Swag down to a T! She brings a lot to the table and can also coach her members when it comes to dancing! In regards to pay! I know that BlackPink was making about $10 million dollars each in base salary! Plus whatever they made from merchandise and record sales!
And their TH-cam Channel generates about $15 to $20 million dollars a year alone!
BABYMONSTER already has deals with brands like Pepsi-Thailand, ADIDAS and Vogue Korea! Also YGE doesn’t take money from his Idol’s for the time they spent as trainees! Like some of the other companies do! We don’t know what their base salary is but I pretty sure it’s in the millions! And their TH-cam Channel is probably already at a Billion Views with all the content they have there! So every time we watch BABYMONSTER content on their TH-cam Channel we’re generating money for them!
    👶😈🤘🙏🏻

Okay so just to explain why they celebrated Ruka becoming an adult, there’s a Korean tradition that when you turn 20…you are considered an adult. They call this COMING OF AGE and it is literally an event for the young adults. Just like how you’re considered an adult at 18 years old in other countries or like a celebration when you turn 16 aka sweet 16. It’s kind of like that in SKOREA and yep Ruka is 22 right now. These introduction videos and their Last Evaluation survival show was filmed around 2022 and was not released until last year along with the final line up announcement.

@18:45 there is actually a history of parents pocketing their child trainees who made debut for the money they earn.
So what YG does is pay the money out to the artist regardless their age, but assign them a financial manager.
This is by no means a flawless system as Lisa was actually scammed by her manager for 1M$ as he had a gambling problem.
While the public story is that he payed it back, my guess is that YG payed it back as they assigned the manager and swept the incident under the roug as best they can.
Personally i think its better that they assign a manager for their funds who they will reimburse IF the manager turns out to be dirty. Because they can't be made responsible for a parent stealing.
But I'm sure there are people who blame YG for that system too.
While there are many things about YG i think is absolute bullshit. How they manage their trainees and debuting artists when it comes to compensation is not one of them.

With YG you don't worry about what all idol earned from their contract.YG one of the fair company to provide for their artist.. YG spend 100 thousand dolar a year for 1 person when they in trainees..and what i read.. 40% for company and 60% for artist for every performance or advisement..

dont worry all YG idols end up young and rich....YG is one of the companies that pay well....even as a trainee and you dont get to debut....you have no debt coming out of there. YG has allocated money for training facilities and needs of trainees...from education to their food and dorm.

YG has exceptional training and offers a lot of perks for the trainees. Yes, the trainees do not get paid…BUT they are given allowances from the company and they don’t have to pay that off. Someone in the comments already said it, but YG sees these trainees as investing for their future. A day of training is basically like school upon vocal/rap lessons, dance lessons, and composing lessons. They also have access to workout in the gym with a trainer, acting lessons, language lessons, conflict resolution/debate lessons, and there is an on-site mental health counselor as well + YG senior artists are available to help guide or mentor them too. There will be a loss of investment when trainees leave the company or get cut from the company, but as you know it is really hard to train and debut in YG. It’s even harder to be a YG artists too because as you know releasing music or having comebacks you have to go through a long process and get the green light by the higher ups. Which is the main reason I get so frustrated with YG management. They don’t know how to manage their artists well and YG artists go hiatus a lot before releasing music again. Their priorities is just really weird and there are so YG artists that could have been more popular had they have proper promotions and more music. But that’s one of the many reasons why a lot of YG artists have left the company. Now the only active YG artists and who have renewed their contracts is AKMU, WINNER, and BLACKPINK (they renewed as a group, but for solo activists they have their own company or signed with diff company). Then there’s the new generation YG artists with TREASURE and BABYMONSTER. So yeah…YG had so many talented artists throughout the years, but I’m glad those artists are thriving after leaving YG. They get to release more music and have more opportunities than staying in YG. Ughh my love/hate relationship with YG. I LOVE LOVE THEIR ARTISTS (CURRENT/FORMER), but really dislike the YG management. 😡
