Would love to see the difference between the dry signal and the sound after being processed on that lovely equipment! Keep it up with this awesome content ;)
Thanks Ave, records are always a great way to listen to music. And just that connection to the artist that we got back in the days of no internet, I gotta preserve that.
@@devondetroit2529 I used to run my Ambient tracks through just a Cheap VCR player with a blank tape that I got from Goodwill. This was years ago and don’t remember exactly how I recorded onto it
A video on your record collection woud be great, particularly showing stuff you listen to without the intent to sample, just to chill. As always, great videos!
Great video! Loved the tour! Have you looked at the Juno 106/60? Really warm sounds and fits perfectly to your style imo. It can be a little expensive though. Thanks for the content as always!
So glad you got the Argon8! Would be nice to see a comparison of your beats pre mastered and then mastered with your process. Thanks for another great video
Great tour! I appreciate the detail and process flow you provide about each piece. Btw, I got that same small keyboard you got in the background! There is some unique sounds coming out of that! You always got the dope vids!
Thank you for the tour if the studio, hermano. Loved the studio! When are you going to post the video of the "J Dilla beat making process?" Thank you again for the the tour. God Bless you!
I’ve taken time off of my studio but I Love the Tegelar Audio gears… I highly recommend not to get caught up in gear… I’m over $100K in on my studio and it is just a hobby…
first of all. really appreciate your content! thanks a lot man, youre doing an amazing job. concerning this video: when you where talking about the transient shaper function of your compressor. I was really waiting to see the thing and to see what kind of different "shaping" options it offers. when the camera went into zoom modus I really had to laugh hard, cause I am german and it just gives you three different options which are german words for different kind of metal stuff, metal elements. im not even sure what the right english term for that is. but yeah I like the terms they are using for those settings. and again: thanks a lot for your content, keep it up!
and one other thing: do you use the Heritage Audio M/S EQ pre-MPC or only in your mixdown? cause Im always thinking about how far you can shape, say a sample from a jazz record before you flip it. also thinking of multiband compression and stuff. trying to use those samples like you would use multi track recordings but i never really put time into this.
Awesome as always. Great Setup! How do you feel about MPC One as a starter MPC? Seems like a steal at $600. Bought a 2000XL, but sold it a week later-couldnt deal with the small screen and the slow 15 year old interface to get a simple sample done - so I decided it wouldnt be worth my time. I have Sp-404sx, 303, 555, love them all, and the workflow is a breeze.
Are going to do one of your process? From sample to mixing (with exporting and troubleshooting)? I know you have a lot of beatmaking videos, but I'm very curious about the next steps, like DAWs or programs used after making the beat in the MPC or any other device. Thanks and keep it up
2 yr old video but my biggest tip is don't get too focused on the gear and start making music. I know very well how easy it is to fall in the "gear trap".
I love mine. Feels like it's made out of spare parts of a battleship. It's stury & heavy. Great keybed. If I want another synth I'll just get the module and midi control them with the argon8x. If you have an Argon8 I recommend getting a Strymon Nightsky (it sounds like a million bucks)
Hello. Its a kind of weird i would choose a setup similar to yours. I have seen two o three of your videos, and would see more. I like hardware for me are 'chiches' o pieces of decoration and to use. I like anyway computers, having screens to work. I was making since 14 with machinew but stopped at 22, i got sick, then i comeback with a guitar, yeah im going to take some pieces from your setup. Good work i enjoy it a lot. Keep going.
@@mpchead Yeah, I only watched videos of it, but love the sound. 8 voices is tough - but people are making beats w it, so there has to be a good workflow. Maybe I'll just use Decapitator on tracks. It's a lot cheaper than $1,500 lol.
@@mpchead Cool cool I’m Investing into a SSL fusion and I’m running everything into lol Even my oldest beats off my mpc 2500 just running into a old digi 003 into Protools sounded way more full and fatter than how I do now exporting my stems from the x into pro tools… I tell people all the time it’s a difference and a preference. Most kids don’t give a rats ass but I do I love fatness and warmth in my production… Btw you dope dope bro I enjoy it watching your videos…
Marlow, I appreciate the tour of your studio. I’ve been watching your recent content and noticed that you’re also using the MPC Live 2. How does the Live 2 play a role with your music creation? I’m thinking of either getting the MPC X or the Live 2 but leaning more towards the Live 2 because of the portability. Do you plan to stick with the Live 2? Thanks again for the knowledge and the music.
Yes at this point I prefer the Live 2. The portability is such an amazing thing. The X as tones of control but the Qlinks don't work sometimes, it is really annoying. The X has more I/O but you can hook up an external usb interface to the live and have more I/O.
Thanks as well I have the X and been really thirsting for the live the X is amazing but I just can’t be comfortable for hours always reaching for controls I’m thinking I’ll prefer the interaction of it being in my lap
Yes I don't have those anymore, I wasn't using them. The Live and the monitors are sitting next to the window with my laptop. Not so much part of the beatmaking process now, that's why I didn't include them.
The sound of the X is great its just sterile. Too clean. But you can think its like a clean canvas you can add color to it as mutch as you like. You cant take color away though like old samplers have if you need a cleaner sound.
Marlow I'm new to all this. I told you before I have a Isla S2400 on the way. Where do i start with the Analogue rack you've got going. I would like to add drive and compression and warmth and all but haven't a clue where to start. Cheers.

@@mpchead Thank Marlow! I do have one more question! Do you ever get any kickback from TH-cam when you sample vinyl in your videos? Copyrights or anything?
Dude keep that argon! I have one too. Just listen to the sine wave as a sub it's so tight deep and defined. Also tip just mix 2 osc together using a standard saw/square/sine for the body of the sound and use a wavetable on the 2nd to define a unique top end which you can't get from standard waves. I have next to my ms20 and it really holds it's own as a warm powerful synth. You won't find much better in digital. Keep the fuck out of it.
