Seeing what one gets in the kits can sway certain people away from buying them,so they can save their money and avoid a letdown. However these are toys not models so they will be perfect for my needs. Beat to Quarters...Thank you this video has been very helpful indeed. BB from the OK.
Stern windows of the 3rd rates are they? Seem way too big also. Play Naval Action to see some really nice models. Unless they are more lake craft which seem to be more squat?
Lot's of errors, but one was too much to ignore: the swivel guns were on the gunwales, not up in fighting top (which you called a crow's nest). edit: spoke too soon ... I'm sorry, but the idea that the compass was at the opposite end of the ship from the wheel made me (literally) laugh out loud.

hatch not door! its a captains gig. The compass is in the binnacle which is back by the helm as the helmsman needs to see it.

In order front to back masts are Bow Sprit, Fore mast, Main mast, Mizen mast
I like the cut of your jib, sir.
I found it easier to keep the deck and masts all separate from the hull to paint and then assemble them.

Actually, in some cases swivel guns were taken to the fighting tops, in fact, some ships had lockers on the fighting tops for the swivel guns.
