    RULES CORRECTION: For the 2-player game, in order to swap a card from your hand with a card to the shared pile, you must also discard another card first. You may not simply elect to swap, without playing/discarding anything.

      I agree - this one was particularly difficult to get from the rules as although they're just one sheet they DO leave a lot of questions that occur when you're actually playing through a game!

    Fantastic, compact presentation. Wonderful. As a fellow TH-camr I know it is much harder to make short vids than long. Well done!

      Geek Gamers Thank you! I’m always trying to get my videos as short as possible while still explaining all the rules but like you said, it can be challenging. It satisfying when it all comes together though :)

      MyklSkeleton You also got the ultimate compliment from my teenager: “yeah that was good, mom.” I will be watching it again since we were still quite rusty with the game as it’s been on the shelf for a while. We took it out to play 2p.

    Fantastically explained (and SO much better than I managed it). This has recently become my go-to game in the early morning coffee shop visits. It's literally one deck so you can pretty much wrap an elastic band around it and pop it in your pocket. In this sense, it's easier as a portable game than my other current favourite: Friday!

    Really good explanation. I have a question though. When drawing a nightmare, you always instantly resolve it UNLESS you have no cards in your hand? Is that correct? I got stuck at one point because I drew multiple nightmares in a row and wasn't sure if I just needed to resolve them all in a row or not. Thanks!

    Love your video and am new to solo gaming. I like Onirim and have tried to play it today. I find it’s super hard to win this game UNLESS you use the “little incubus” (hate using that name by the way so I’ll call him the little black ghost) as it says on the very back of the rule book as a “protector” which they recommend for beginners…is this normal? I like board games and not the one on the app on iPhone…seems it doesn’t keep track when you nullify a “nightmare”…again is this normal to not win much on the actual card board game? Thanks!

    • @MyklSkeleton
      @MyklSkeleton  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it’s normal to lose quite a bit at first but solo games are usually meant to be difficult. Think about it, if you played and won your first 2-3 games would you even want to play again? Part of losing is that feeling that you were close to winning and maybe next time you’ll get it. Just keep playing and I bet you’ll start winning more. Good luck!

      @@MyklSkeleton thanks! Yeah guess you’re right but type A personality here lol. Any other solo board games you’d recommend for someone just starting out who’s older (but not old!) that have pretty straightforward rules? Easy-ish to learn? Thanks!

    My first so!o game - bought after seeing it in the Top 10 games for another TH-camr. I had played one game whilst carefully reading the Rules. However, this video just helped to confirm it all. Merry Christmas

      This was my first solo game too! I love the solitaire feel but with extra layers of depth. I found the rules a little tricky at first but once you have the flow down it’s pretty intuitive. Hope you enjoy it, happy gaming!

      @@AliWade1971The expansions are fun but I still mostly play the base game. I’d suggest sticking with that until you’re comfortable with it and then moving to adding one. Can’t remember their names but there’s a couple that are pretty simple. 2-player is fun too , just check my rules correction for that one. I got a rule wrong in the video

  • @mrdadstache1460
    @mrdadstache1460 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    In the rulebook just below the section on resolving nightmares, it states that “if you have -less than 4 cards-” you keep drawing/resolving. But that may leave you with a hand of 4. But you’re supposed to draw up to 5. Am I missing something? It seems contradictory.

    • @MyklSkeleton
      @MyklSkeleton  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re essentially in a loop at this point where you are drawing cards and resolving nightmares and doors until you get back up to a hand of 5 cards.
      As an example: you play a card and now have 4 in your hand. You draw a door and choose to unlock it with a key card so now you have 3 cards in your hand. You next draw a location card and add it to your hand so you’re at 4 cards now. So you draw another and it’s a nightmare so you discard from the draw deck and remove it from the game. You’re still at 4 cards so you draw another. If it’s a location card then you’re done because you have 5 cards now.
      Does that make sense?

    I know that it is probably just me, but this is so annoying and unnatural to watch a card review which in the player used only one hand.
    And I really really tried. I quite watching as soon as the 2 players mode began - why?
    Because when I saw the faster speed video mode - I realize how much does the one hand playing is bothering me. so even the fast mode wasn't made it batter.
    Somehow, it feels just as a lake of self-awareness in the performance.
    Cards are playing with 2 hands. Seeing it executed with less is simply awful.
    Thanks anyway...
