I am currently studying Asian History, I really want to focus on the Indus Valley, and Southeast Asia. Myself, I am Cambodian, but I deeply appreciate Japanese Culture when I took a Asian Literature Class, I really love Yosa Bosan, and Matsuo Basho. I really love, Japanese Buddhist history, Heian period and before. Also the Edo Period was interesting too.
Beautiful Gion; Kyoto. Only in Japan you can find this kind of events, surrounded by a veil of mistery. They are one of the true artists of the world. I ❤ Japan. I ❤ their culture and traditions. Blessings. 🤗
I remember the very first time I visited Kyoto, maybe twelve years ago, after having studied several books about the city beforehand. I could only stay for about 4 days, so I planned each hour, from about 5am each day., often taking the expensive taxi to maximize the time I could spend there. After having memorable moments at Yasaka Jinja, Kiyomizudera, Sanjusangendo, Fushimi Inari, Ryoanji, and Kinkakuji, before the first night came, my feet felt compelled to wander restlessly in Gion at night, tracing my way through the busy street lights to Hanamikoji Dori, where the famous Ichiriki Ochaya stands, like a monument from my deepest dreams. I stood in front of the curtained entrance, just awe-struck, wondering if it could still be in operation. At that very moment, after few seconds, a painted face paced out from there, who expressed no surprise at me just standing right in front of here as she exited. Without a further thought, I impetuously chased her (she stepped so quickly), asking in desperate tourist English, "Excuse me. I'm sorry to to bother you. I traveled from Canada and I was wondering if you would be so kind to pose for just one photo for me." With no attempt to hide her annoyance at my gesture, she herself gestured a clear "one" with her finger, speaking very quickly in Japanese, and stood there, posing for me in the middle of Hanamikoji Dori, the center of the tea district, and I fidgetingly put my camera on night setting, and snapped one permanent pictorial memento of that beautiful moment in time. She looks celestial in it, I assure you, the very picture of beauty itself. A year later I moved to Japan, lived there for 8 years, and have travelled to Kyoto about 8 times also since, sometimes through typhoons on a moped. I am back in Canada now, but I still dream of retiring as a gardener in the northern countryside there, either near Hieizan or Sagano. It has always been my favourite city in the world since.
Such lovely women and such a beautiful tradition. They seem like a parade of flowers. The world is blessed that the Japanese women and Japanese culture are striving to preserve the beauty of the past.
the way they walk is already an interpretive dance to me, oh, my God! that's how gracious they are. when they smile im already melting with ecstasy. when they giggle my heart wants to jump out of me. when they talk its like a morphine i dont feel anything but joy, honor is thier badge, wisdom and artful skill is their tools, but damn, they are married to the art. life is a big contradictions and chaos.
Nice to see Japanese beauties in one lump. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. There are no details. Is it some festival or what. They discreetly enter some house or temple and come out quickly. Can somebody throw light on this. Japanese are good people. I love their workaholic nature.
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad that you enjoyed this video. 【Hassaku(八朔)】On this day, the Geiko and Maiko-san visit various shops and tea houses (chaya) to thank them for their patronage. Thanks😊

小さい頃、東京にも芸妓さんが居ましたが京都の様に受継ぐ制度がしっかりしていたら江戸舞妓さんも見られたのではと想いが馳せます。

Absolutely Stunning!!

I'm not kidding seriously, they look elegant and beautiful💗
I spotted my favorite maiko wearing my favorite color... Violet 🙏💜🌸
Blessings. 🤗
Thank you for your comment.
I'm happy to hear that you're interested in Japanese culture😊

Viewing this with deep respect for all involved in practicing/living this timeless culture and tradition.
By the way I have never seen Pontocho at daytime. How colourful it is! I had no idea. Thank you for your wonderful portrayal.
Thank you for telling me a good story😊

Such lovely women and such a beautiful tradition. They seem like a parade of flowers. The world is blessed that the Japanese women and Japanese culture are striving to preserve the beauty of the past.

着物姿の動作が美しい。
the way they walk is already an interpretive dance to me, oh, my God! that's how gracious they are. when they smile im already melting with ecstasy. when they giggle my heart wants to jump out of me. when they talk its like a morphine i dont feel anything but joy, honor is thier badge, wisdom and artful skill is their tools, but damn, they are married to the art. life is a big contradictions and chaos.
'When they talk it's like a morphine' ...O_O Cool it Edward Cullen
Nice to see Japanese beauties in one lump. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. There are no details. Is it some festival or what. They discreetly enter some house or temple and come out quickly. Can somebody throw light on this. Japanese are good people. I love their workaholic nature.
Thank you for your comment.

I wonder if the maiko and geiko will be able to participate in Hassaku this year D; Everything's been canceled, I hope this doesn't get canceled as well. I'm always amazed how the maiko and geiko can keep their composure in those black kimono and heavy obi when it's so hot outside!! It's also fun to watch the juniors run ahead of their seniors to open the doors and move the noren for them ^^ And it was such a treat to see smiley Mamesumi-san ^^ She's one of my favorites
