I think Angler is supposed to be genderless. It could reproduce asexually, or it bred with another Angler variant that they weren’t aware of initially. I’m thinking Froger (Froger is one of the quieter ones and if it was Pinkie, the offspring would probably just look like normal Angler with varying amounts of eyes and color, save for Blitz) could’ve laid the eggs that eventually became Pinkie and Chainsmoker, and Angler and Pinkie made Blitz. Or maybe Angler’s form is the result of some sort of infection, and it contaminated a frog, another anglerfish, a viperfish and a blobfish. The fact that Pandemonium isn’t an Angler variant but has similar behavior proves that the behavior isn’t what makes them variants of Angler, it’s something else. Blitz could get its gray color and three eyes from Angler, and the little bit of purple near its eyes could be Pinkie. Blitz could’ve also just evaded capture the whole time, as it’s literally stated by Team Overseer to be faster than the CCTV cameras, and it’s quieter than some of the others, so I don’t really see how they could catch it if it was outside the Blacksite. Not sure where it got its speed from, but it’s clear that every Angler variant has some freaky mutation that makes it unnatural, except for maybe Froger, which is another piece of evidence suggesting that Froger was around the whole time and just didn’t get caught. Froger is the most normal out of the variants, it’s got two eyes, not too many teeth, and its audio cue isn’t particularly loud like the others. If you die to Froger, Team Overseer states that it was aware of the EXR-P and did a second sweep of the area. Perhaps this is some sort of sensing ability that it has, and it uses this to know if someone’s coming so it can either hide or attack. Maybe Chainsmoker is separate from the others and it was just a blobfish that got into the Let-Vand Zone and inhaled the green smoke from the underwater beacons. This would explain why Chainsmoker doesn’t have teeth like the other 4, though the smoke is just as good of an explanation. Thanks for coming to my Angler Ted Talk.

And also, I think the reason behind Pandemonium not being an Angler variant is because he's not really a Fish, unlike the others, which are purely mutated fish. Pandemonium, however, is just a bunch of decaying flesh piled up together I'm pretty sure.

All the anglers have that They’re all made out of smoke, they don’t have a physical body. They’re face being 2D is canon, it says this in the document.

Well tbh the facility is fucking MASSIVE. Plus half of it is sorta.. y'know... flooded? You can't really hear things if water's in the way.
