    The Jack wants to play with the cat. He’s trying to get the cat to chase him!

    This Jack only wants to play - when they mean business they don't care how big and bad the other guy is, they just wade in, take the other guys' best shots, and it's death by Jack Russell.

    More of a stray rather than a true feral cat. Feral cat wouldn't have stayed around for the cameraman, but would have run and hid.

    Merriam-Webster allows that a feral may be "either" "wild" or "escaped domestication".
    Our vet described our two as "semi-feral". They escaped the neighbours and moved in with us. They arrived house-trained but shy of humans, and have not fully settled even after five years here. They are very territorial and even chase away other members of their own family. They were obliged, however, by me, to leave their sister alone when she moved in to have a litter.
    They weigh 5 (female) and 10 kilos (male), and do not back down against other animals. They are reputed (by neighbours) to have killed interlopers.

      I know they are siblings because they lived on our back porch briefly as kittens. The three look like totally different breeds.

    • @davehill7257
      @davehill7257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Andrea Vitanza For one thing I didn't say it was a Jack Russell. My dog is bigger than a Jack. I know because I had a Jack for 14 years until 2 years ago. And I know if this terrier I have now ever got hold of a cat he would tear it a new a-hole! And my whole point is I would help if needed with my .22 rifle.

    • @davehill7257
      @davehill7257 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Andrea Vitanza Do you have any idea what the term means, tear it a new a-hole?? It means the cat would get his sorry ass kicked all over the place. Who the hell ever said the dog would 'tear ii apart'? A dog, even a pit bull, doesn't need to tear it all apart to kill it! Wow! You are some special kind of stupid!

    • @yourpp5235
      @yourpp5235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ferals don't always live in groups. Feral is when a cat is born without an owner and live without an owner, they live alone or in groups. While a stray is a pet cat that has been abandoned by the owner.

Cats that live in a groups are not called ferals, however feral cats often live in groups or colonies called clowder. Again, a feral cat is a cat that is born without an owner. For example, there are lots of cats that live in the wild and many of them are solitary, they are called feral cats not stray cats.

    Terriers meet their match in cats because a cat's instinct isn't to run. They use intelligence to fake out and distract, as well as fein strength and advantage in order to buy time to assess the situation and best escape. This confuses the ever living fuck out of an animal like a terrier who charges to provoke a chase that it will win thru persistence and also it's instinctual intelligence of the chase. Notice the cat doesn't stare down the dog, It instead calmly looks to where it wants to go which signals it is not a threat and just wants to leave. The thing is a cat will also take notice of the fact the other animals tend to look in that direction in response to the cat doing so. This the cat uses to it's advantage like a boxer feining movement. See, in this video the cat notices this mirroring and later uses the fact the dog looks where it looks to it's advantage. Also notice when the dog charges the cat it swats at the dog and/or charges back which freezes the dog because it's not the normal reaction of prey. This then leads to a strategy for the cat to fake and Fein it's way out of the situation without ever putting itself at the disadvantage of prey aka turning your back and running. Even more interesting is the cat did all that whilst keeping it's best tools in it's toolkit which is eluding with agility and speed. Cat's use their best weapon as a last resort, as an ace In the hole. They try and confuse first which only serves to exponentially increase their advantage of ellusiveness

      Dude dogs are good at gripping but awful at finishing off animals... They just don't have the tools to do so efficiently and have much worse reflexes than most carnivores. Cats on the other hand have pretty sharp claws and teeth along with excellent senses. In short, it'd be the cat that would take your JRT I'm afraid
