This series is the reason I bought a rusted out GS750 that didn't run. I had never worked on a motorcycle in my life, but three months later I've got her up and running and slated for a test ride this weekend. Watching your videos during the week and working on the bike every weekend has been like therapy. You, sir, are a master. Thank you.
Wow! I’ve been called a lot worse 😉. Thanks for the feedback. I actually miss doing the video series as it all came to a pretty quick end. Took it for a run last week and it still runs well. Still having problems with the paint bubbling on the tank again. I think there must be small pin holes that I missed. Good luck with your test ride! Send some photos! Cheers. 👍🏼
Not sure if you finished this bike but i have gauges in klm and live in canada , got the bike just for the motor going to scrap the rest , maybe i can send ya the speedo and tac and any other parts mine was a 79 model . Would rather give the parts away im not useing then to scrap them , i had to track down a spark ignighter and had to buy used on e bay so i know how hard parts are to find , not looking for anything just pay shipping and i will send what ever you want .
I’d love to take you up on that offer as I’m currently working on a ‘77 GS750, that’s if the parts are still available. I’m also in Canada(Ontario). Let me know. All the best! Carlos
@@deegz dam i just scrapped all but the tank last week , only have a mint tank , the paint is faded but no dents and elblems are good also still has working fuel gage in it , the onlt problem is i dont have the key . I know the inside is mint because i can shake the hell out of it and it doesnt make any sound inside like no rust and the gas shut off has the vacuume shut off so the last time it ran it was sealed up like a vault ...
Hi, squeeky bum time now as you near the end. I have the same bike in UK originally from US in Potomac Blue, I've changed it to the Euro/UK colour Strato Blue (O3J). It was 'restored' here in about y2k but not that well so I'm slowly correcting it back to factory. Re exhaust silencers ... do you have any knowledge of the Tranzac Silencers in QLD? Any idea what their 4-2 look like from what I can see they look like the Marvin without the cone on the end? Look forward to seeing the episode when you're on the road! Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave. Yep, getting very near the end now. Waiting on a new seat pan as the old one is rusted out. That's coming from Vietnam. Then the silencers from Marving in Italy. Who knows when that factory will re open! Apart from that, not much left to do. Not familiar with the Tranzac silencers. I searched a lot to find as close as possible to the original and the Marving looked the best. Unfortunately they dont do the headers so I have lined up a guy in Tasmania (Verex exhausts) who can make them for me out of stainless. I have sourced a full set of the finned header clamps that cleaned up really well. I plan to make mock ups of the headers out of PVC once I have the silencers and send them down to Tassy. Since this is a US import it will have to have an engineers inspection to ensure it complies to the regulations of the day back in 1977 including noise levels. Fingers crossed! BTW I should have episode 14 out tomorrow.
Just got my hands on a 78 GS750 and glad to find this playlist. TY!
Cool! They are great bikes. Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
It makes me so happy you made this series . Just bought a gs750 project
