It is amazing that over 200 years later the signal of 2 longs a short and a long are still used as a warning (or announcement) as I understand it. It started when the Queen of England traveled by ship and they used the Morris code for Q, to announce the Queen was there (and to make way). When she traveled by train they used the same code. Stay warm folks, and God Bless!
I recently heard on a Danny Harmon video that the sequence is morse code for the letter Q and means "quarantine" as in "quarantine the crossing". I didn't know that.
Sorry, but that Queen Victoria story is not true. British trains do not whistle long-long-short-long at grade crossings and, to the best of my knowledge, never have. There would never be any need for a train to whistle to indicate that the Queen was on board. They would never need to tell other trains that the Queen was on board, because British railways are all signal-controlled, so the signallers (dispatchers) would already be keeping lower-priority trains out of the way. And they'd never need to tell road traffic at a grade crossing that the Queen was on board, because all trains have priority over road traffic, just by being a train.
The 2 longs, a short and 2 longs were a signal that the Queen's ship was coming (and a warning to get out of the way). It just so happened the letter Q was associated with that sequence.@@beeble2003
Cincinnati Eastern power always looks great. Nice and clean. If you didn't know better you'd think they were brand new! It's obvious they take a lot of pride in their equipment. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Three locomotives should ensure success in making it over the road as today's train has substantial weight with only six empty cars. I'm sure the crew wants to get home today without doubling the hill. Just looking at that frozen ground reminds one you don't want to get stuck and Chessie seconds that! Apparently one of the shops has room to start working on those flat cars and you can tell they used to be Autoracks with those little ramps at the end of the car to allow you to move to the next car. Now that the car no longer has the side panels all that's left for their artwork is the small graffiti on the car frame. Glad you were able to make the most of our shorter days and CCET didn't disappoint
CCET always has something interesting going on. I would like to find out more info on those flat cars. Good thing my truck has four wheel drive. It comes in handy especially in the snow
More great train action in Ohio the three locomotives and in Mount Orab with the rock and grain trains, then in Williamsburg with Chessie along for the ride as well as the pet's and the slide show another great video and Thank You Jaw Tooth.🇺🇲🤠🐕🦺🐈🇺🇲 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
I like that you are always accompanied by your great friends, that is wonderful dogs. Take good care of them, they are our best friends. Greetings, friend JT.
Yes, it is true, friend, when you love them but feel that way for them, but we have to trust that God gives life and returns to the creator. Our God gave us his friendship in this painful World so that our lives may also be accompanied a little by his faithfulness. They remain faithfull, and many times es are the unfaithful.
Thank you, JT, for the railfanning videos of a big, heavy Cincinnati Eastern Railroad consist pulling the hill in the beautiful countryside of Ohio. The end of the last video showing the end of the train disappearing around the curve in beautiful colors of fall was awesome. Thank you again.
Great catch of the CET working hard with all 3 locomotives! Always a treat to see your local short line railroad riding the rails! Thanks again JT for another great video to share with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort my friend! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Odds are in about 2 weeks, that hill will be snow covered. Wonder what Loki will do in snow? Noted rusted, ancient rotary signal in the background. Next year, RAM is supposed to have combined 600+HP Plug in Hybrid pickup truck. Could be interesting transportation? Supposedly, BN&SF experimented with battery locomotive to act as a brake going down dangerous hills and a boost going up steep hills.
I really like your videos, there are so many interesting trains and a lot of old driveways from enterprises, I like your approach to filming, you even show moments like riding on rails, which can determine whether a train has been traveling for a long time, very cool!!
Hi JT, Im really loving these locos they are stunning when clean, sparkle against the bright blue sky. Their horns are so loud too! That train was heavy needed all 3 locos strength to get up that hill. Fab video again JT. 😊👍
Great video JT!! ALways awesome to see the red and black locomotives working hard! I was in Abingdon, Virginia today and came across an old set of train lights still standing along a stretch of track in town. Sad that they've pretty much cut the rail traffic in our area, but thankful I can come here and watch your video's! Until next time!!
Cool 37 railcars, thats a long one. Joo, and in Ohio its cold, i can see it. We in Berlin we have 10 cm snow, wind from north-east and -2 Grad celsius. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
See crossties, treated and untreated in gondolas coming through Roanoke VA on manifest, You can see them good from pedestrian Bridge, nice video and like hearing the Leslie air horns!🛤🚂
Always enjoy seeing the CCET in action! I still bet they wish they had another stretch of siding, so they wouldn't have to drag those flats around. Great video JT! 🚂🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
The Cincinati Eastern Railroad needed all that power to move all the loaded cars on this train. The engines were working hard to bring the train up Williamsburg Hill.
Nicely done JT, this is great! Lots of power there. Oh...are you going to the train show in Warsaw, Indiana on Saturday? I believe there's a NS line and local Chicago Fort Wayne & Eastern line near there. It would be awesome to meet you!
Cool video today JT! I always enjoy the CE trains. 😊😊 I have a personal request to make. A young man named Adam has passed away after a short illnes. If anyone feels led to pray, please pray 🙏 for grace for the Isley family and friends as they deal with theis terrible loss. Adam was closer than anyone to being my own son! Needless to say I'm heartbroken. 😢😢😢😢😢 Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. 😢😢

I think Jaw Tooth mentioned that the MP15DC had recently been used to switch rock cars. The pair of GEs are stored out of service, as far as I'm aware.
The switcher was being used to unload the rock cars but for the past month it has been on the maintenance track in Sardinia. There are 3 other locomotives stored out of service in Sardinia. The other units were shipped out west to other lines that they own.
Love the sound of diesels working hard!
Me too!
These Cincinnati Eastern Railroad locomotives offer a pleasant harmony of red and black! Set against a blue sky, they make lovely images. 😀
thanks for watching!
I agree!
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars it is rare to have the entire operating roster on one train

NS is the only railroad you'll see the horn pattern signs also.
