ईरान में उप राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए सीधा चुनाव नहीं होता है. राष्ट्रपति बनने वाला शख़्स ही उप राष्ट्रपति को चुनता है. उप राष्ट्रपति लगभग वही काम करता है जो किसी देश में प्रधानमंत्री करता है.
