I love the Advent calendar. It turned out so beautiful and fun. Here in Germany we celebrate X-Mas on the 24th of December, so on X-Mas Eve. We open our presents on Christmas Eve and continue to celebrate on the first and second days of Christmas. I know it is different in the USA. I was surprised the first year I lived in St. Pete, FL. I was expecting to celebrate and get presents on the 24th. So the Advent season is over on Christmas Eve, that's why our Advent calendar has 24 pokets or doors.
Love your advent calendar! You did a great job. Can't wait to see all the others from your sew sisters. I missed you--so glad you are back. Hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Gorgeous calendar! I love love love Pom Pom’s! I have always wanted a reusable advent calendar and never think about making one until advent and I have no time. You have showed us how doable the project is.
Oh, Michelle! That is so cool! I don't think i've seen a handmade advent calendar before. Very, very nice! I see you're going to be on the Vlogmas Tour! I am too. I am day 8. I look forward to seeing what you have made! Have a blessed weekend and happy sewing!
You have until Dec 1 - so YES, there's still time :). I should have timed how long it took me - but if I had to estimate, I'd say all in, it was probably about 2 1/2 hours of work.
Hi Michelle, It looks amazing. 🎉So much fun. I made my daughter one out of felt about three years ago. I found iron on numbers at dollar tree. That saved me a lot of work because I don’t own a cricket. My family comes from Germany. We always had advent calendars. They stopped on the 24th, the night that Jesus was born. This evening celebration is very common in Europe. Something to look forward to when it’s dark and snowy outside. I have pictures of the Christmas tree 🎄 with real candles from when I was a baby. I shutter when think of the fire 🔥hazard. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy your calendar. Please let us know what the gifts were. Dotschi ❤🧵🎄🎅🏻
Thanks for the history lesson Dotschi! I've seen pictures of trees with real candles - definitely looks scary! I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well - and I'll be doing daily shorts videos to show what the gifts are in the advent calendar I received 😊
Very cute… I could see palm trees in a Florida themed advent calendar too! I did a beaded cross stitch ornament for my niece that was a decorated palm tree with “lights”. She lives in Orlando. So nice to be able to customize all the parts to your recipient. When will you reveal the one gifted to you? Can’t wait to see them all. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Oh snap - that would have been perfect - I'm so bummed I didn't think of that! BUT the trees are only loosely sewn on so I can change it - THANKS for the suggestion! I'm totally changing it!
Love your advent calendar. I sewed one for both my kids (now in their 40's) and every year I fill it with different flavors of Kcup coffee. They love it!
Awesome job on the Advent Calendar. I grew up always having an Advent Calendar and I made one for my kids when they were very little. I also made one for my nieces and for some friends too. They are not easy to make, but I found them to be lots of fun. If you decide to store the calendar during the year I would recommend that you roll it over a pool noodle to keep the felt from creasing. But it is so cute I would be tempted to keep it up all year. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Super adorable! I grew up with them... always heavy paper/cardboard. We celebrated on Christmas Eve and had 24 little doors to open. I'm second generation German/Austrian so grew up with those traditions. I carried it over with my kids but it's only been sporadic with grandkids.

Thanks so much Carol! I appreciate the recommendation of using a pool noodle for storage - I wouldn't have thought of that! Happy Thanksgiving 😊

That's so awesome! So you opened all 24 doors in one night? Not one per day starting on the 1st?
@@MichelleSewsAgain one per day... sorry for being unclear :)
