If you combine his MLB stats with Japan stats, he was one of the greatest players in the game. The guy hit 2646 hits and 507 Home Runs combined. Not to mention he was always so clutch. One of my favorite Yankees of all time. Thank you Godzilla!
The best quality about him was that he was so clutch. He hit hard when the team needed it the most. Sadly stats don't tell that story, but anyone who saw his games will remember. He and Jeter kept the morale of the team up with hustle plays.
grrrindz I agree and they're HOF chances are scarce because of that I'm a Dodger fan and I can't believe Nomo wasn't inducted if he was like the Jackie Robinson for Asian Americans tbh I'm a Yankees hater but Matsui and Jeter were the main reasons I started to Love baseball as a 8/9 year old before that basketball was my favorite (and of course I was a Laker fan) but now even though I like basketball I love baseball more
One of the greatest Asian Baseball players of all time period...glad that Ohtani hitting is getting compared to Matsui's he really was a complete hitter.
What the ++++ is this stupid music? He gave up so many home runs coming to MLB. I swear I saw the guy hit one to the warning track every couple of days.
Since learning about hitting from playing two company slow pitch soft ball (2018) , I like the at this point feel some would call the, old man way to swing (Hideki Matsui's swing) HM. The way HM swings is baseball poetry.
I'm Japanese, I like Matsui, and I think he's a decent player, but wouldn't dare say he's HOF worthy or anything near that. But still, I think it`s fair to say that he`s one of the greatest Asian players to have ever played in the major leagues.... still waiting for an Asian hitter to have a season like `04 Matsui.
He'll always be a Yankee to me
For sure he was pure yankee from day one he fit right in.
this dude was always so clutch

We would have seen players like ichiro and Matsui much sooner if it weren't for the agreement that the MLB and NPB had back then
Truly and underrated great . All time playoff performer. One of the prettiest swings as well. He and Bernie Williams!!
GODZILLA
People would say that's racist but that's his nickname so I'm not hating
+Dmoneyblanco even people in Japan call him Godzilla
Dmoneyblanco I'm glad you don't care... I wouldn't want you to get upset for something a big as calling a Japanese man, Godzilla
The best quality about him was that he was so clutch. He hit hard when the team needed it the most. Sadly stats don't tell that story, but anyone who saw his games will remember. He and Jeter kept the morale of the team up with hustle plays.
I wear #55 because of Matsui. Godzilla is my favorite player. He is a big influence in my career as a player.
This guy had such a technically beautiful swing. Respect from a Red Sox fan!
Never thought I’d watch a Matsui highlight reel with J.Cole in the background 😂! Love it.
A great all around MLB player. I’m a Yankee fan so he will always be a Yankee to me. He was exciting to watch play. #Legend ⚾️🐐
Matsui over A-Rod in any clutch situation any day
He retired as a Yankee yesterday. What a guy, he will be missed.
One of the best Yankees in history. He was just a joy to watch. Loved using the Yankees in MLB 2k6 and 2k7. Yankee fan for life right here 💯👌🏽
Yankees vs Red Sox in 2k6 is a damn near perfect matchup
Awesome video! This guy was such a smooth hitter, too bad he could only DH by the end though. Once a Yankee always a Yankee!
that bat flip is legendary
What's a bat flip? What time?
He was my favorite Yankee when I was a kid. If you needed a clutch hit, he almost always came through.
He swings so hard its unbelievable
hedeki matsui was a good ballplayer. Love this vid.
he was a beast player he will always be a true yankee
This is one of the guys I was growing up with back in 06
Gotta be one of the most underrated players of all time.
He seemed to always get a hit when it was needed most
Music Ruined it.
Backgammon88 it did
I wouldn't be surprised if Hideki gets himself a plaque in monument park.
If you guys watch the anime major s5 the player name itao is basically based on hideki matsui
Second most loved Japanese player behind Ichiro
now seeing how there is less asian players in mlb. batters. and how short their given chances are. matsuy n icrho really had great mlb career s.
grrrindz I agree and they're HOF chances are scarce because of that I'm a Dodger fan and I can't believe Nomo wasn't inducted if he was like the Jackie Robinson for Asian Americans tbh I'm a Yankees hater but Matsui and Jeter were the main reasons I started to Love baseball as a 8/9 year old before that basketball was my favorite (and of course I was a Laker fan) but now even though I like basketball I love baseball more

Thank you for good movie!
You do great. I love your highlight videos.
Sox fan but Matsui is my favorite Yankee all time. Sensational swing, always scared me when he was up
this music is a grievous assault upon all reason and good sense
I plug in my ps2 for mlb 2k7 just to play as him and Ichiro
Matsuri should be in the hall of fame
A Yankee forever.
Miss these days, the classic Yankees 😢
He was a great guy and really clutch we'll miss yah hideji
godzilla. so cool. so smooth. so clutch.
I miss Godzilla
Matsui should be in hall of fame
We thought we were getting a slugger. We ended up getting a newer version of Paul O’Neill. Much more complete player than anticipated.
GODZILLA!!!!! 💥🦖
Godzilla! True monster for the Yanks💪
homerun king of japan
Godzilla king of baseball and my favorite Yankees player
2019 anyone? 🔥
Dude was very clutch
My favorite baseball player ever in Hideki and my favorite rapper at the moment J. Cole. Great job
Goddamn I never realize how much of a beast Matsui was....GoYanks
ikr matsui was mvp for a reason. he da real mvp
Charlie Mulhall lmfao he never won an MVP shows how much you know
Baller Life He was talking about when he won world series MVP. that shows how much you know
One of the greatest Asian Baseball players of all time period...glad that Ohtani hitting is getting compared to Matsui's he really was a complete hitter.
If we’re counting his Japan stats (which we should) Matsui should be in the Hall of Fame
イチローもいたんだw
Hidecki and ichiro should both go into the hall of fame . They both performed great in the mlb
did you already do brett cecil? If not, can you do one for me?
I'd been more familiar with the Bronx's right field bleachers since his appearance.
He was clutch
That swing is beautiful the bat speed is crazy
He was a great defender as well as a clutch hitter
We winning it this year go Yankees
What the ++++ is this stupid music? He gave up so many home runs coming to MLB. I swear I saw the guy hit one to the warning track every couple of days.
the guy who requested this also requested the music
I really like when he was in the outfield when I was watching games even if he was playing for a different team
Good job
Matsui-san. GODZILLA. i was in the house for many a HR.
I WAS SO MAD WHEN HE WENT TO THE ANGLES
It was a exhibition game for Matsui to return to Japan.
The music ruined this
Since learning about hitting from playing two company slow pitch soft ball (2018) , I like the at this point feel some would call the, old man way to swing (Hideki Matsui's swing) HM. The way HM swings is baseball poetry.
Awesome Yankee, terrible music
Meeting him tomorrow
Sayonara
Such a smooth swing
1:43 "We up, we up, we uuuup, got me up all night... we up, we up, we uuuup, into the bleachers in right" hahahah xD

I'm Japanese, I like Matsui, and I think he's a decent player, but wouldn't dare say he's HOF worthy or anything near that.

THEPTRAMO I think he's right on the bubble. He could get in depending on how heavily they weigh his career in Japan & his sub-par defense
I think Ichiro and Matsui belong in the hall of fame.
