I really enjoyed this video, and watched it purely out of curiosity, I don't plan on buying the Axe, but it's a very cool and valuable feature. You are a great speaker and I enjoyed your video, keep doing videos! All the best.
good tutorial, but with the mic and the piezo both connected to the axe fx, you could do a "live" tonematch (recording the source and reference at the same time in the tonematch block). this will give you an even more accurate match!
Also you don't need the fx loop to do a live tonematch. Just set Ref Source to Input 2. Set the mode to live and start the matching proces using the front panel TM block page with the two frequency graphs. Press the up button, play all over the neck in the style you wish to use the preset for (strumming, single notes) and press enter. Done.
Awesome! Thank you very much for another great video Bernd!!. You should consider gathering your videos on a DVD and sell em as instructional videos for the axe :)
LOVE your videos Bernd. Have you tried putting a pitch block in to get the higher octave frequencies to simulate a 12 string (in addition to the chorus you used)? I have not yet tried it but plan on it. Your method for capturing a "better" acoustic sound is brilliant. I have some pretty good mics and pre amps and a great guitar with onboard electronics. Soon, I will follow your lead here and tone match a great acoustic sound that I can play live with my acoustic's onboard pickup and/or mic. Tools: Taylor 710CE, AKG 414 BULS, Blue Woodpecker, Shure SM81, Universal Audio LA 610 Mk ii, Universal Audio 710 Twin-finity, iMac, Logic Pro Studio. Thank you Bernd and please keep the Axe FX vids coming.
Es geht akkurater und einfacher: MIC Preamp in IN2L, Piezo in IN1. FX-Loop BAL LEFT speist TMA Reference (Block Input Left), IN1 Kette->FilterBlock (BAL RIGHT) speist TMA Local (Block Input Right). Danach AB Vergleich: DAW Channel 1: MIC Preamp, DAW Channel 2: Piezo via TMA Block. Das Ergebnis wird positiv überraschen.
Nice tutorial - wandered here while looking at your guitar course info. As I'm new to the gear used in a "home studio", could you please elaborate a bit more on exactly what gear is needed both to listen to and record (via pc) eg a mix of 2 instruments (eg guitar and synthesizer) + microphone. I ask because a lot of people and music shops are "pushing" the simple solution of a combo amp + audio interface, but if one plans to go a bit more fancy with effects etc., then separating effects and amplification / speakers makes sense. A list of equipment you use would be helpful.
As you've got a lot of experience in this gear, could you please give a bit more info. From your experience is it worth paying more for an audio interface eg I looked at Steinberg UR44, Tascam 20x20 / Zoom UAC-8 and then there's the more expensive MOTU and RME (I saw you using an NI in one video) ? Which monitors do you use ?
One more thing I forgot - how does one play something (in digital form eg. mp3) in parallel to an instrument - do you need digital inputs on the audio interface for this (not all audio interfaces have it) ?
That is really cool. All of that setup for that adjustment. I think I would rather try to find a good recording wav of an acoustic rather than do all of that setup.
Is it possible for you to export this as a cab or a preset? I don't have the axe-fx but I have an ax8. I would like to use the piezo pickups on my electric to get an acoustic sound live.
I am interested in the tone matching aspects of the FX2. Could it match this intro watch?v=UrOPJXrUWII with just a little bit of guitar before the band kicks in. Would it be able to tone match something like that since it's so short?
No, you won't- it would be better than to do a new tone match to the acoustic to your electric. It won't sound like an acoustic, but it'll sound way more "acoustic-y" and is a really cool sound in and of itself. Hope that helps!

All the best.
Pro trick : watch movies on Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Bodie Tripp definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for years myself :)
Thank you for making this video. I am an experienced engineer but love these creative ideas that keep it all fresh.
Bernd!!! Very good and profesional video my friend! Happy to see you on youtube!

This is excellent - can't wait to try this - thanks!
It did sound much more alive.. Great tutorial.

Outstanding tutorial. Thanks so much! Alles Gute!
Amazing job, Bernd. Great stuff!
Maybe it will sound strange but this one the best Fractal videos i have seen see far:) Powerful tool :) Be creative, stay creative !
This is amazing !! thank you very much for this tutorial!!!!!

This is a superb video. Thank you. Extremely useful tips 👍
thanks for the nice words!
Great Video Bernd! LG :)
thanks for this :)
You are welcome!
really helpful, thanks!
Great video lesson. Thanks!

Can you share a tone match ? ... and if so could you share it please. sounds great !

You Need an Audio Interface and Studio Monitors - and the Software Like Cubase, Ableton, Logic. That should be it :)

paying more starts paying of at the level of RME oder UAD. NOT Motu, had one, did not like it at all.
That is really cool. All of that setup for that adjustment. I think I would rather try to find a good recording wav of an acoustic rather than do all of that setup.
that would be enough, yes!
Very clever. Tnx dude.

Very, very cool.

Is it possible to use this method to obtain an acoustic simulator?
Yes, exact same setup. You just use your electric instead of the piezo pickup. Sounds good thought it only comes close to acoustic, not 100%.
Thank you, I'll try :)
Once its tone matched can you switch to an electric guitar and still get the same acoustic sound?
No, you won't- it would be better than to do a new tone match to the acoustic to your electric. It won't sound like an acoustic, but it'll sound way more "acoustic-y" and is a really cool sound in and of itself. Hope that helps!
You would have to do a different sound for every guitar. Tried it with my electric, it is good. But better with acoustic OR Piezo ;-)
Please say "Do you have the continuum transfunctioner" on your next video. =)
Is this possible with a Kemper profiler?
does sound good,do you leave a tma or change it to a cabinet?
leave it as tma
:-) Huge smile
