    A cloudbreaker 2 was the disc that helped me break 400 feet. I know it’s not for everyone but I carry DD3’s because I like that rim width for throwing for max distance and when you beat in a stable disc it just has a better/more consistent flight than an out of the box flippy driver that may only last you a month before it flips into oblivion. Just my thought as to why more everyday people still like the cloudbreaker, it’s a very glidey predictable driver that gets better with age 👍

  • @Tsxtasy1
    @Tsxtasy1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Couldn’t agree more. I rarely throw distance drivers and I can throw 400-450’. Slower, easier to throw, more workable discs will lower your score.

    I fully agree with your takes. When people are surveyed, most Disc Golfers max out less than what you need to really throw distance drivers properly, yet they're the most popular discs. I only have four discs above speed 9 in my bag. Two are speed 10, and the other two are for specific shot shapes in specific wind conditions. I may be a noodle arm who plays short courses, but I've got a lot better by forcing myself to learn to throw a Claymore 250ft than I did by sticking with fairways to get the extra distance. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on one of these to check the feel. I didn't love my 15-yr one and sold it, but these seem to be a little flatter, less stiff, and less turn-resistant, which are what I didn't like about that one.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dude, I agree so much with your rant about people throwing 12speed meat hooks. As much as they are being sold you'd think we'd have 100,000 players touring,lol. I rarely throw over 9 speed and I score really good on Nashville courses. Yes, I love it when I'm throwing putter and other dude is throwing a flex with a 12 speed cause thats the only way he can throw straightish. Gotta throw what the pros are throwing tho 😉

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly! Seems like I'm the only one who can't consistently throw 450' based on the Cloudbreaker sales 😂

    • @prattacaster
      @prattacaster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ApolloDiscGolf Consistent is the key. Sure I can get a Raider out farther if I have a perfect throw but my Saint on average is going to give me better distance if I fluff one. Also, a lot of people think they are throwing hyzer when they are actually throwing flat or even anny. I don't see a ton of players actually hyzer flipping shots

    • @ApolloDiscGolf

  • @joeblow2426
    @joeblow2426 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This redesigned MD1 is just coming out today, as you know. So it can’t be the best selling disc. I bet it will be popular, and they will sell a ton. But your probably right; it is unlikely to out sell the Clouldbreaker. People want distance and they think the discs Eagle and Simon throw will help them get that distance, too. An unlikely prospect if you don’t have the arm and/or good form, as you said.
    Interestingly, A lot of people don’t throw midranges because they would rather force a putter or throw an easy fairway. Like you, I love my mids, especially my Uplink. Yeah, I’m going to buy an MD1. I’m a sucker for a straight flying disc.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh yeah, I have no doubt it will sell well! I just think it should sell better than the Cloudbreaker because its so much better for more people! But people like throwing the max distance stuff that the pros are throwing even though something like this will suit everyone's game better!
      And yeah, mids are so good! I think people just don't think they are that important because pros don't bag a ton of them... but that's more because of the courses the pros play hardly call for a mid range out of their game! It's all drivers and approach discs mainly!

    I don't think of a mid range when someone is shredding a course. If I'm doing really well I'm rarely throwing a mind. I throw a driver park the drive then have an easy putt. Maybe my drive isn't perfect and I'm left with a very short approach. Not using a midrange for an approach. There might be one hole on the corse that is short enough I'm driving with a mid. Many of the in the bags I've seen from the pros. Have minimal midranges compared to the other classes of discs. I think you are over hyping this disc.
